  • My other passion, I brought this video from an old channel of mine and added a little info.
    The Kolb Firefly Ultralight weighs less than 254lb lbs and is like flying a dirt bike.

    Great video and nice you have a ballistic parachute .... just in case you ever need it ! I've heard many say too much weight and I've never had any problems. Oh well to each his own I would rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

      The weight of parachute doesn’t count against weight limit of the aircraft.

      When I called it in to the sherif’s deputy he said it’s not even the first time it’s happened in that area.

      Wings are a big target i guess. I wonder how much fun it would be when the guy in the airplane started returning fire. 😁

    Seeing your legs in that high altitude view really looks sketchy lol

      It was so cold it was unbelievable. I did make it to 10k feet a week or two later. It was July in Texas and I was wearing pants, parka, gloves, hat. The other dudes at the airport got a kick out of it. The part I left out is that I only had enough to climb up haha.

      @@dadmobile960 Noob question!
      What's the temperature at 10K and how that affects engine, aerodynamics at that height?

    • @dadmobile960
      @dadmobile960  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@learndesignwithdev it was probably in the 40s-50s. The Kolb with the 447 had no problems climbing that high either. It feels pretty sketchy up that high though, it felt like I was above the horizon in my little plane.

    Where can these be bought? The Kolb website doesn't have a sales page

    • @dadmobile960
      @dadmobile960  Před 2 lety +1

      You would have to call them directly if you wanted one new. They can be found used in good shape for 7kish

      @@dadmobile960 it's pretty cool you can get up in the air for that price range. Are there any upgrades that could be done for a bigger fuel tank to travel further

      @@a-carpenter9229 I always kept mine within the FAA Part 103 guidelines. As long as your buzzing around rural areas nobody will care.
