Great reaction. You are too funny! Those “butt out” pants are pretty famous. Not to disappoint you, but that was fabric, not a hole. He didn’t even tell the band he was going to do that. The drummer, Michael Bland, said they finished their prayer circle and Prince turned around and headed towards the stage and that’s how they found out. I believe the rapper, Tony M, still performs with the NPG. Rosie Gaines, in my opinion, is the best vocalist Prince has ever had in his band (and I really like Shelby, Elissa, and Liv). Check her out in Diamonds and Pearls Live, a performance to benefit Special Olympics. I think she is still alive but she’s had some health challenges. Her nephew is Ro James. He had one album, but I’m not sure whether he’s recorded anything else. Rosie had her own band and a few releases of her own.
I love Rosie Gaines, she was the best vocalist for sure.
Lorenzo thanks for this information! I love this era in Prince music, the songs he did with the New Power Generation, Diamonds ands Pears, Cream, Get Off.. But I did not know that the lady singing in them is Rosie Gaines! I love her song Close, another great hit to dance to!

There is a live performance called "the ryde dyvine" in which Prince drives the yellow car into the venue (paisley Park) Prince performs around the 26 min mark. Another great Prince live performance.

Classic performance. He did a closed set rehearsal. Arsenio hosted that year, and he coukdnt get in, he got mad so the gave Arsenio an award for hosting 3 yrs in a row. At the end it took them more than 5 min to clear the stage, Arsenio was trying to adlib, finally he said, "go, leave, i hate seeing naked gold people..."

The singer is Rosie Gaines and the 'rapper' is Tony M, they were part of the NEW POWER GENERATION. Rosie has had some health issues for some years now and we haven't seen or heard anything from her.....she is still living though because the Prince community would have heard if she passed.
Tony M is still perforning with the NPG and whatever the group configuration is right now. ( there were many different variations of NPG over the years )
Award shows are ridiculous; a handful of great performers made award shows tolerable trough the years.

U still need to check out "head" from 1981. That was racy. Thats dirty mind tour. Dirty mind album got no radio airplay so u can imagine how the concert was.
