we northerners are often labelled by the southerners as illiterates due to the fact that some of us don't speak good English having forgotten that language proficiency doesn't actually determine how well one does in life. Unless we value what is ours i.e our language and stop continuing to quantify intelligence or brilliance based on the ability of one to speak a good English we won't ever appreciate the good minds that our great but battered Nigeria has to offer.
When I went to south to serve I was looked down upon at first by my southern fellow corp members for the fact that I'm a northerner and that equates me with an illiterate boko haram. I stood up and addressed the matter maturely clarifying the misconceptions that many had about us and I'm sure many were agaped by just me being able to express myself with poise as if that is much of a big deal.
unless we treat one another with respect, ours is the image of shame in the eyes of world. cf

I served in the Northern part of Nigeria and met a with a very large number of intelligent and diplomatic people. It is said that the Yoruba race is a set of diplomatic people but pls don't mess with the educated northerners. However, there's a lot of work to be done in bridging the wide gap between the poor and the middle class(didn't mention the rich because that's a far cry).
Yerseer, if it's within your ability, kindly communicate with SLS and tell him how much he's needed in helping to restructure Nigeria. He's a better candidate than Atiku and other options.

@ Etop Nathaniel : Sorry to disagree! It takes pragmatism to do what Sanusi did as Governor of CBN. The policies put forth by him and his team to save the nigerian financial system have nothing to do with being just theoritical. There were serious real situations, issues to deal with and Sanusi did not shy away from tackling them. Together with NGozi they did a great job. I don't know what your definition of practical is, but if being practical is being able to address practical issues and problems and find solutions to them and implement those solutions, clearly Sanusi is a practical and able man as evidenced by his track record at the helm of the CBN.
Your claim that " These ones focuse on a system not on the people" is totally inaccurate. In removing rogue, incompetent and corrupt bank CEOs and replacing them with competent and honest ones, and putting in place sound risk management processes and advocating good governance, Sanusi's focus was clearly not only on a system but also on people. The focus on the system is surely evident to you. So let's address the focus on the people. When you remove rogue, incompetent and corrupt bank CEOs and replace them with competent and honest ones, and put in place sound risk management processes and advocate good governance, you are fixing a system ( you rid the system of bad people and process) and putting the right people at the right place (first focus on people), the ultimate result of all these being that not only the system does not collapse but it also outputs what is expected of it : the well-being of its stakeholders, depositors and employees and their dependents (second focus on people). Shareholders' investment and potential return are protected; depositors' savings and potential returns stay safe; and employees' jobs are saved. By also tackling inflation, Sanusi's focus was the people of Nigeria as keeping inflation under control is protecting people's purchasing power. As you can see the man is not just about making statements he is about results for the well-being of his country.
Finally, when you say : " all the same they are good at taking orders and not giving orders. " you seem to reduce leadership to being good at giving orders. I could not disagree more. Whilst giving orders is part of leadership, the latter is way more about motivating people to act than ordering them to act. In addition to being able to give order and motivate, leadership is about being able to set realistic goals and plan and think strategically to achieve them. During his tenure at the CBN Sanusi has shown these qualities. He is not perfect and has never contended to be perfect but he could definitely be an excellent president for Nigeria.

This man was wasted as a traditional ruler. He can contribute more without the shackles of that archaic institution. Probably good for everyone that the ignorant ones dethroned him. Their loss. All of our gain.

We spend our time and efforts chasing criminals who mispent or did some kind of 419 when we should be thinking about ways to make sure money and power never gets into the hands of these criminals in the first place. We should be busy building our nation instead we are always firefighting. There is a WORKFORCE problem in Nigeria.
