What amazes me the most is that the "zoomed out" architecture view always roughly makes sense. They actually thought about what the entire building looked like

I’ve always thought some of these levels were weirdly laid out and seem like they should merge together. This just confirms it. I wonder how they pulled that off?

Idk but they could merge, this is weird because they don't have to :o

This was basically something with optimisation as the rooms not connected with a "door" or a "portal" (This was the name for triggers connecting rooms in the editor) were not rendered if not on sight and directly connected with a door.

Developers made space paradoxes in Tomb Raider from 1 to 5. There's a big one at TR4's Angkor Wat level where the rooms with and without water at the level's end mix

About 4:33 I think there's a reason why the room is there: in the Colosseum there are two doors in the part of the arena where gladiators fight, you can reach both doors but one of them is never opened. Either 1) they didn't want the player to get scared by the dark void that's outside the map; or 2) they wanted the player to reach the correct room regardless of the door he / she chooses to open. Or maybe both, I have no idea.
I've seen the rest of the new videos you've uploaded about TR 1 and TR2 and IMO those space paradoxes exist because the devs didn't have the time and energy to bother fixing them, making each level and ensuring that it works correctly already takes a huge amount of hours so they were probably like, meh this is stupid I'm going to focus my energy on finishing the game and doing whatever I want with each level. They did all the games that came out after TR1 in only year, LMAO, if we were them we would do that as well.

Which door is never open ? I think they all open at some point if you don't take the shortcut?
