  • Orange conrod, green and upper yellow cranks create a parallelogram mechanism.
    There is a 4-bar linkage of the pink conrod that connect green and blue panels.

    My guess is that the forces on the small mechanism parts must be enormous. (small translated to huge swing)

    Can you please explain what is the material of the upper part of the mechanism? It looks like it gets longer while folding the gate.

      No special requirement for material of all parts of the mechanism. Ordinary steel is good.

    Ok so I commented on your 1st video for the unfolding gate but it was the wrong one. Yhis is the one I was looking for. Is there a special relationship between the links for this linkage?

    • @thang010146
      @thang010146  Před 6 lety

      Links of the 4-bar linkage were determined by "try and adjust method".
      Please use the CAD files (their links to download are in the video description) for getting the dimensions.

    Dear friend. I plan to make these gates in metal. I kindly ask to explain leverage development method for opening and closing the second part of the gate. In your files Autodesk Inventor I see that different levers 118 mm, 30 degrees a second 110 mm 33.7 degrees. Why do not they symmetrically? Milorad . Saint-Petersburg. Russia

    • @thang010146
      @thang010146  Před 7 lety +1

      The symmetrical dimensions do not give good result. At first an antiparallelogram mechanism was used but no success.
      So the lever dimensions were determined by drawing (trying step by step to get the most reasonable ones).

      All clear. Thank you so much.

      hello milorad. did you made the gate in metal?

    • @Milorad1970
      @Milorad1970 Před 6 lety

      Yes, I made bi folding gates. But, the work of these gates was not very successful. Because, due to the large inertia in the critical points, the gate folding mechanism worked not correctly. I used levers and thrusts for the second door. Video: winter 2018. St. Petersburg. Russia. czcams.com/video/tsiYwDlbOZc/video.html

    Does the second door (half gate) move independently of the first one?

    • @thang010146
      @thang010146  Před 5 lety +1

      No. There is a 4-bar linkage of the pink conrod that connects green and blue panels so the two panels don't move independently from each other.

    hello sir please let me have your contact details. I am in process of making bi folding gate. I could do the top mechanism but unable to understand the bottom mechanism. Please send me a sketch of the bottom mechanism. Also the second leaf gate cantilever is becoming problem how i handle that. looking forward to hear from you.

      Dont use this one. There is a collision with the linkage when closed. It is not a strong design and has a pinching hazard.
