First of all thank you sharing this. This was very interesting to me how the process of marking foundations has lots of similarities but yet is quite different to how we do it other side of the globe.
Did I understand it correctly that the property boundaries are marked to the road with some kind of (offset) marks? And you used them to setup your total station? Also I don't if know if got it but what did you say you did at the end? I think you said "azimuth angle" but what does it mean in this case? You checked that the total station hadn't move in the time between start and the end?
(Also sorry if my explanations are hard to understand. English is not my 1st language and I don't know how to explain all the technical things in English so I might use some wrong terms.)

Hi. Many thanks for your comments.
In Australia, boundary corners are setback off the road and in this situation the boundary was approx. 6.5m from the kerb line.
The reference marks on this job were drill holes and wings - triangle cuts, placed in the kerb on both sides of the road.
Sometimes the reference marks are buried underground ( see my other videos) and when the corner marks have been removed or
disturbed we can use these reference marks to re-establish the corners.
Before the survey, I drew up the property boundaries and reference marks in my survey CAD software and loaded that into the total station.
Then each corner and reference marks have numbers. I measured the reference marks with the total station using the Resection program to get my position on the property.
If you wanted to set-up your total station on the reference mark, you could do that.
But, I wanted to be setup so I could see the whole site.
As I only used 1 tripod setup with my total station, I measured to a distant object " V" on the pole with reflectorless measurement.
Yes I used this mark to keep checking my orientation and make sure my total station hadn't moved at all. Well a few seconds (") is ok.
      All was good.
It was quite challenging to make the video but I'm getting better. I have bought a special bracket to hold my camera on top of the total station.
I will make some more videos like this for you and others to enjoy.

@@globalsurveyor Thank you very much for taking time to answer me so thoughtfully!
This is all very interesting to me how the same profession is done all over the world. Also happy belated global surveyors day! I just learned yesterday that it even exist. :D
I'm still currently studying this profession(currently at Lapland UAS). I started it roughly 2 years ago so I'm still quite new to all of this. I also got some real job experience last year while I as studying. Currently I have "off season" but I will get back to work when the spring and summer comes fully. Still loads of snow and ice everywhere so the job places don't really need us in the winter.
And I can only imagine how much you have to walk back and forth while making video like this. And yes, I noticed that you placed your camera on top of total station. I think that was very creative of you. Total station can also be great as follow camera, I just learned that. :D
Also if I can give you some critical feedback I wish the audio was a bit louder. I had to turn up my speakers quite high compared to other videos on CZcams. I have done some video editing in past and if the program you use have some kind of "normalizer" you should try it out. It boost the audio volume while trying to keep it close to original as possible.

Add to that normalization comment I think this quite nice explation how it applies to video editing: czcams.com/video/OKSWPrT5upo/video.html

@@PeeHooo Many thanks. Yes I noticed that I was just a bit too far away from the camera but I will try and speak louder or boost the volume. All the best with your studies and chat soon.
