This has annoyed me, it’s just too good. I’m insanely jealous; we’re obviously of a similar vintage - hauntology doesn’t even begin to describe this, I’ve never seen such an accurate regurgitation of the things I grew up watching. I really wish I’d made this. Sensational.
I really wish his channel would get more attention. I personally think he's a comedy genius! I've showed a few friends and they all love his madness but he deserves to get way more popular!
Ah, memories of Christmas TV in the 70s. Grandmother gone to bed, the noises of an old house settling, the smell of macaroons heavy in the dark hallway air. Awake in terror and confusion.
101% on point - but therefore there's Quentin to brighten us up with this extraordinary production. Mission accomplished I'd say, Sir Smirhes - merry Xmas and sweet holidays to all of you ❤
Yeah just that hole 70s flavour is brilliant. It really takes me back in time to when I was a child. I really wish I was a 60s kid but being early 70s born is the next best thing
@@graguitar6493 Very true - I often think back to all these crazy moments in the 1970s. The TV series, the toys, the people, the clothes, the colors, the design of allday items, the look of kitchens and livingrooms, the sweets... no problems at all since we had no responsibility at all, we were kids and could enjoy life.
I do not know what that black and white bit of 'found footage' is before the Robin Askwith sound card, but its freaky, nightmarish and absolute genius! Oh I love QTV!
Apparently telly in New Zealand in the early '80s was basically lifted from UK TV of the '70s, because almost all of this makes perfect sense to me. Now I can't imagine Christmas without a fever dream Goodies/Doctor Who/Crown Court special.
Ah I remember this was the Christmas I got my first ever Ceefax box set! It was all the Ceefax that had been on that year - on VHS - in a box set. Over five hundred cassettes if I recollect. Watched it countless times - such fond memories!
Just discovered Quentin a few days ago and went through the back catalogue and this is my favorite so far, the crown court/Dalek/goodies/Benny hill mashup is one of the most brilliant things I’ve ever seen.
Absolutely fantastic!, This is real entertainment, better than regular stuff on tv. You are a breath of fresh air , thank you very much. Wishing you and the QTV team a lovely Christmas 💗
Thankyou Quentin and Co. I have plenty of material for tonight's impending nightmares having watched this masterpiece! Ps, I love Comfrey, is he free at all? PPs, Merry Christmas to you all and all fellow QTV fans! 🎅❤️
Absolutely magnificent! Thank you so much for all the entertainment this year, you've genuinly brought me joy with every single one of your videos and I'm always excited when I see that a new one has been uploaded. I wish you merry Christmas and all the best for the upcoming year!
Ye gods! I'd forgotten that Crown Court ever existed! My only memory of it is thinking "when's this crap finish? Where's Mumfy? Why isn't Camberwick Green on?" I'd probably have quite enjoyed it if it had had Davros in it, though. I hope you're planning a feature film soon, with Gentle Geoff, Ken, Quentin, Uncle Derek, etc. all turning up at the same time and turning out to be the four riders of the apocaplypse. It will be the last word in cinema. Never mind 'el Topo'. Ah, one can dream! Merry Quentmas everybody!
Quentin, Comfrey, John Sindy, Bill Nairobi, Dick Pelican, Rusty Jesus, an ambulatory Crown Court podium...ahh,my cup runneth over with various unspeakable unguents. That was the best ever, thank you! Please bring us more QTV with plenty of warped music, all wrong test cards and that distressing thing with the besmirched banana, it's the pinnacle of my existence in this crepusular vestibule that I languish in. Bless you and may nebuchadnezzar bring you a nice crumpet for your efforts. #CAMPAIGNFORMOREQTV. 🏆
This is spectacular. I especially enjoyed my ride on the judge podium. You can't see me because I have my invisibility cloak on and it was kinda Quentin's moment anyway so I didn't wanna steal the limelight. Have a very wacky tacky Christmas Quentin and tell comfrey to lay off the booze!
Mr Smirhes this QTV special has made all my christmas wishes come true , what a superb video. Reminded me of The Goodies , Benny Hill , and a splash of Kenny Everett all with that special Quentin Crazyness and pure terror mixed in for good measure. The Askwith open mouth ident at the very end of the reel will be giving me nightmares forever haha. Wishing you all a very merry christmas and thanks again for all the wonderful madness & mayhem.
This oddly numinous footage is as warmly festive as the traditional tankard of creme de menthe many enjoy at this time of year. Redolent of sprout water and giblets. Thank you Quentin.
All my neurons are slowly turning into little tiny Quentins, flashing, pulsing and dancing about in a snowy delight this Christmas. Yes, this season’s festivities will be very special indeed, one for the books.
In 1975 I was in my 3rd year at junior school (year 5 in new money) and our teacher, Mrs Pilgrim, made sums more interesting by using Rusty Jesus as a variable in mental arithmetic (which is illegal nowadays). She would ask us all things like, "If Rusty Jesus is equal to 7, what is the area of a caramel tart divided by Rusty Jesus? In centimetres, not inches!" We all knew the answer in inches, but the curveball was giving the answer in centimetres! We did not like Mrs Pilgrim.
Reminds me of a more tolerant age, where you would tape 'Nighttime' over tapings of 'Nighttime' over tapings of 'Nighttime', on and on, year after year until year later, when you're older and spending another sleepless, pointless adult night re-watching these tapes of youth and finding an, almost absurdist, montage of meaningless clips until you realise that most of the people featured are either dead (or very old). Comforting. I would watch more but I have cheese scones to make and I shall make them, you see if I don't! oh, congratulations on another superb video.
Merry Christmas Mr Smirhees. I hope you got the card I sent to you. I didn't know your address so I just wrote "To Quentin Smirhees and Comfrey" on the envelope and posted it 1st Class.
All my childhood christmas dreams are alive once again I feel so emotional like the time I found a Readers wives magazine aged 7 behind a bush just off the A1 slip road at Burton Coggles. Huzzah Quentin and thrice more huzzah, I will add a drop of old mother Trevors finest carrot whisky to the goblet of my Model 852 "Queen Anne" Goblin teasmade this Christmas morn in jubilatious celebration.
Crown court meets the Goodies. What a razor sharp evocation of 70s zeitgeist. P.S As a late comer to your cultural offerings, can I ask is Comfrey the illegitimate child of Humphrey cushion, late of Hickory house?
Only you could bring the daleks into a goodies style set. Interesting to see comfrey doing some other rolls as well in this. I still miss comfreys psychotic mood swings. I really hope you 2 have some ideas in the pipeline for more of that. The Avant Garde stuff near the end was A1. I've watched it 5 or 6 times already.

And the feeling of uncle Barrington's hot sherry kissy-wissy breath on my neck as I feigned sleep.
How to have a trip without actually doing acid. Pretty much sums up the 70’s. Please bring it back.
Everything Quentin does is utterly terrifying. After watching his work I feel like I'll never sleep again.
My Christmas wish for Quentin: Peace, good will, and trousers.
Trousers are overrated and so are pants...
Trousers chafe the thigh though

Crown Court and that depressing theme music. I used to watch that on my own when I was 3........Yes, I had a strange childhood!
Sean , have you ever visited Blackgang Chine , here on the Isle of Wight ? It ticks a lot of similar boxes .
