Life Flight Saved The Driver, We’re Saving The Truck.

- This Toyota Tacoma slid off the road and tumbled into a canyon, severely injuring the driver. Luckily the 17 year old passenger was mostly uninjured, and able to provide immediate life saving first aid before running to the top of the mountain to call 911. The firefighters and paramedics spent hours tending to the driver and getting him pulled back up to the road so he could be taken by life flight helicopter to the hospital. Since then the drivers family has been trying to get the truck out, but we’re unable to pull it up the cliff. So I bright the Ford 4x4 wrecker up to give some more pulling power. They did the bulk of the work the day before by repositioning the truck and clearing a path through the brush, which made my job FAR easier. After some hard pulling we got it back up to the road so it could be loaded on their trailer, then we cleaned up all the debris in the creek. The pickup is totaled, but luckily the driver is alive and on the mend.

That 17 year old is a hero of this incident
Even though his father was not aware that his son was in the truck he apparently was supposed be there at that time, who knows how long the driver would have been down there before he was found and the out come may have been very different. Glad to see that you and Grumpy were the one’s to help them recover the vehicle.
If this was Heavy D, they would have a crew of 12, 6 vehicles, one giant inflated ego, 20 tonnes of utter bullshit and half of the video would be adverts for dodgy products.
Casey has a Grumpy with a silly hat.
Perfect summation, deadly accurate!
Heavy D would have also piloted the life flight.
Facts
I don't think they're to ego-y. They help a lot of people also.
@@wendy833helping people out doesn't negate my points, they are looking for content the same way Casey does, or MOOR. The fact that people can be helped for free and the helper get paid is one of the best parts of You Tube. I wish more people made this type of content.
As for the ego thing, watch the next video analytically, see how often Heavy D say "my" or "I" , look how much of the video is taken up by a close up of Heavy D talking despite everything and everyone else being way more interesting, how often he has to be in control of the machinery, they literally stop the recoveries so they can film heavy D climbing into and using each machine from 4 different angles, usually with someone praising how good he is, this is the reinforce he is the master, the focus, vehicles are never "the Het" it is always " my Het " then with a comment about how great it is, then by inference how special he is for owning it.
He has started no end of videos with comments like " this is the greatest 'whatever' video you will ever see" " or " stop what you are doing now and listen" only for it to be yet another dodgy product.
If that isn't inflated ego, I have no clue what is.
And an honourable mention to the fake Titles video where he flew to Scotland and lied throughout an entire video to promote a known scam. That is ego, thinking his paycheck for selling his integrity was worth ripping off the viewers, despite him being richer than most of them already.
Somebody better get that kid an award, not many kids even leave the house more less do something that selfless
👍
As a remote flight nurse, I want to say thank you for helping people in situations like these. I often wonder what happens to the vehicles after rescues.
Knowing many peeps that like to get out there…and sometimes things just don’t go right..even for the experienced…other times peeps are idiots..your there for em All either way…Thank You👊🇺🇸👊
Strong work Casey and Grumpy. The camera never shows how steep things are but that looked pretty steep! Just clearing the "trail" looked like it must've taken a bit of effort.
As a frequent viewer of recovery channels, I often wonder about the vehicle occupants! We've seen some gnarly things, and the laws of probability say that it's likely not everyone is ok after these wrecks. 😕 I'm in awe of the work that you do, with critically injured people in unthinkable conditions. ❤️
This is a Toyota, he’s gonna put a windshield in it , was it & drive it . Win for Toyota, I hope he recovers.
Thank you for all you do as well
Im so proud of my brother in this situation he planned it in sections he told me but im just so proud of him. Also dave (the driver) is ok, his eye is not doing good and he broke some ribs but hes ok. Thank you for getting the truck out for us that would have took long time. Thank you for doing it we appreciate it.
Great video Casey. And Grumpy is going to need a raise, now that he’s been promoted from part time cameraman to hydraulic operating engineer.
Congratulations Grumpy, you deserve the raise.
I approve of this message!!!!! Lol
Me too😂
I'm sure Casey will double his pay. Twice nothing is still nothing 😂
@@johnnyadams1755 Possibly a little more expensive gas station Snacks will have to suffice? A man of his talents deserves at least that.
maybe a set of Rugged Radios for instances like this would be handy
Grumpy did a great job on the controls. That was a great recovery, one less thing the family has to worry about.
Casey you and grumpy deserve a lot of credit for all that you do. This was a big recovery and kind of tricky with that cliff you got the job done.
Having the family involved with the recovery definitely seemed to make the recovery a little easier.
I am glad the driver survived the accident.
That 17 year old young man saved the driver's life getting him out then getting him help
They absolutely made it easier with all their work the previous day, and were a great help on the recovery as well. And yes, that kid most definitely saved the drivers life
For someone who is "not very good at this" that was an impressive recovery! Of course you did have an "old dude" on the winch and old dudes rock! Way to go Grumpy!
What I appreciated the most was the Family there to police and collect the debris and prep for recovery. Leaving the area a tad bent and broken but not littered. Great recovery. And Spikes are good luck for sure!
That man needs some kinda reward for that hike for service to call 911
There must be a fine line for Carina, knowing your expertise and you being very sensible, and then seeing you clinging to a hillside above a creek.
😰
What a hell of a recovery. The camera may not show how steep it is, but Casey standing with one foot on the dash and one foot on the roof perpendicular to the ground sure drove the point home. Nice job.
Grumpy, that's the best response to the silly spike covers, keep up the good work Casey
Be careful there's a guy on here (unless I made him have a coronary) that no matter how many times I told him the spikes are plastic and bumping into them will knock them off the truck had a fit about my comment that my boys have them on their trucks saying if he bumps into them and gets cut up he'll sue and only bad drivers have them to crowd into cars shredding the side of the car I believe he thinks mad max is based on a true story he'd probably crap his pants if I parked my Fury next to him in a parking lot
i'm a 74 year old grandmother; i watch all of your videos because i love to watch men at work, especially ones who have such a delightfully intuitive understanding of physics!
Hey Casey. How about taking a drone with you on some of your callouts ? Just don’t like seeing you guys get hurt . Thank you for helping people out. . 👍👍👍
Casey, I think this ranks up there as one of your more spectacular recoveries, so awesome seeing that truck come up and out. Great job!!!
Nice to have Grumpy. We need more Grumpy on the channel!
Definitely a bad one, glad everybody made it out alive.
Sure hope the driver of that truck makes it through this. Best of luck brother. Great work as usual Casey! Looks like you’re keeping the “lucky” spikes!
That was a tough recovery. Good job, Casey.
I happened to be listening to the scanner and heard this call, glad everyone is gonna be okay.
Man to be 17 again, you can almost walk away from anything.
That was my problem I was only 14 when I put my Silverado down a ravine and busted up my spine and skull
Just hope the driver will be alright, also nice to see you and Grumpy working together...while you two have the grandest of fun you two certainly get down to business when needed. That said...his spike hat, hilarious!
Wow. That was a crazy rescue. Only a Toyota would crank and drive along the river bed after that fall. Our entire family drives either Toyotas or Fords. I’m so glad you’ll were safe during that. Prayers for the man that was in hospital from the wreck. Stay safe and God Bless
@@tammyreeves168I was going to say the same thing I’ve had several tacomas and as long as I did the maintenance they never let me down once and I used them mercilessly off-road and on the farm and daily drivers never had a bad one
Good to see Grumpy back with Casey. What great recovery from the middle of nowhere's ville.
All that brush that made this so difficult was probably what saved the drivers life and possibly others. I am sure it slowed the decent into the ravine. It was good to see that some capable help was there to assist.
Most likely so. It’s definitely what saved the last car that went off there
Hats off to all you guys! Someone raised that 17 year old right great job!
That was a heck of a ride off the road. They were lucky to survive. Made for an interesting recovery. Be safe you two!
Good teamwork guys on an awkward extraction from the creek; impressed that you got all the junk back up out of there too. Looks like the spikes gave Grumpy super powers. Hope the driver makes a good recovery
A cool thing about you putting these videos up is that when the driver of the truck gets to feeling better, he'll be able to watch you getting his truck out of the ditch!
What a ride that was. Nice family that needed some help from Casey and that grumpy feller. You guys reaffirm my faith in humanity! ❤👍👍
They was very blessed to still be alive
Bad accident! Lucky outcome, all things considered, and what a blessing that the 17 year old young man was there, and not trapped, or badly injured.
Well done on a challenging recovery! Plus 👍👍 for cleaning up the debris, and following "leave no trace" even under such difficult conditions.
Spiky Grumpy for the WIN(ch)!😀
17-year-old sounds like a very sound mind a very strong body and a lot of courage
Looks like Grumpy got good instruction on how to run the boom and winch lines. Casey climbed down and got the truck out and then they went back down to bring out the trash. Soon nature will remove any trace that they were there. Hope everyone is safe.
Hey, Grumpy - back on January 11th you forecasted Casey hitting 200K shortly. He's now at 200K, so you weren't too far off in your estimate. Love the spike hat, but you know it's going to go right over the heads of the people that whined about them 🙂 It's always fascinating to watch Casey haul up something that's been damaged to the extent that this truck was - far more skill than most people recognize.
Gotta love Grumpy's sense of humor, heck of a recovery, I'm sure it was a lumpy ride going down... Thanx !
What a job! What - a - job. Great work! Glad to hear that everyone is recovering, and what a smart 17 yr old! Great job & quick thinking on his part!
Casey, you really shine in these messes. Great Job.
That was a difficult pull. Your tow truck showed what it's made of today.
Another difficult recovery effortlessly performed by Casey and Grumpy! Good job and thank you for helping the people out. BTW Grumpy's hat is gonna blow up the internet🤣🤣🤣
Another great recovery with the " little wrecker that could " - keep up the great work and be safe out there 👍
That’s a great idea for a line of children’s books
Am I mistaken? I didn't see the Taco on the trailer and the last I saw was it "driving away". Did that "wreck" actually start and run and drive away under its own power?
And good job by Grumpy working those controls gently and smoothly, too! That's the beauty of hydraulics over electrics.
That 17-year-old did a heroic deed after stabilizing the driver, too. Great job by all!
The guy said that the day before they flipped it on it's wheels and drove it down the creek and as far up as they could so I'm sure they drove it home
There was a comment in the video about the owner bringing out a trailer. I don't know that it was running, thought I heard somebody say to pop the clutch to start it. But just rolling it down hill to the trailer out of view could have been all they did.
Yes, the Toyota started up and drove onto the trailer under its own power.
We drove it up onthe trailer to take it home
Wonderful team work on that rescue. Casey you directed the recovery with your operator skills. Grumpy was so necessary for the recovery and appeared to run the wrecker winches to Casey's direction. Casey hooking into the Toyota where necessary to move the Toyota truck past tree stumps and up the hill to the road. This was a great day for Casey and Grumpy when it comes to recovery work. Great job by both and the customers help.
Stay safe and enjoy this recovery for awhile.
Casey, as a retired FF some "clear" commands might help and create less confusion when multiple people are giving commands. A brief pre-flight/pre-winch review works wonders,
Slack
Tension
Stop
These are really all you need, there are of course more, but anything else and I have seen people question what the commands were when the screaming starts. You did amazing (like always, you have an awesome understanding of this stuff) I am just offering a suggestion and not trying to critique. Keep up the great work, i appreciate your videos and usually learn something new. Never too old to learn.
Hell of a recovery. That Tacoma looks like it handled the wreck like a champ. Impressive work
I hope the driver is doing well and the 17 year old passenger is as well. Casey and Grumpy have done another great job. Job well done. Thank you for everything you do for people.
Those spikes gave Grumpy wings. . . LOL.
What a crew Casey and Grumpy with his Statue of Liberty headband. Lmao.. 😂 great job guys.
That Recovery was awesome! Thank goodness everyone is recovering. Nice to see Grumpy! Thank you for sharing! 😊
Another good commercial for how tough toyota trucks are. Launched off the road, kept the wheels and rolled away mostly under its own power
Sobering recovery. I have an 04 Tacoma with extended cab and a shell. 300k miles and seen some difficult roads and terrain, and it makes me grateful to be keeping wheels down so far.
I have and will continue spending s fair amount of time in the mountains driving around. But videos and stories like this will always put a pit in my stomach. So greatful everyone came out alive and the son did what he did!
Good to see Grumpy ! Appears to be getting around pretty well! GREAT Job!
Tarzan in the branches? I'd say George of the Jungle is more your style lol.
I never took physics in school, I didn't even know what it meant way back then. But the more I watch these recovery channels, the more I am learning what it is. You have a great understanding of physics, Casey, and you're very good at teaching it also. Thank you for my continuing education in my retirement!
Good to see Grumpy out and about again. make sure he wears his lucky spikes more often. LOL Glad to hear the driver is doing ok.
You were not lying that guy is very lucky to be alive! You and Grumpyioust P Spikelhood did an excellent job getting everything out of there.
Thank you for sharing this video it’s definitely one of the best ones you’ve had for a while!
Impressive recovery. Love them old Ferd diesels, that was an era when the "built Ford tough" tag line was accurate.
Amazing the 17 year old took action and knew exactly what needed to be done.
Very lucky people. Surprising that the truck could still run once you got it on the road! Good job guys.
I was more impressed it steered getting them running is usually the easy part
Glad to see grumpy missed seeing him
I think grumpy has been drinkin somethin spiked 🍺 great job as usual Casey and grumpy
the old red tow truck ,,I just really like that truck
Another great recovery, very technical this one and it was done flawlessly. 👍
That old tow truck did really good.
That old tow truck is a Beast!
My brain couldn’t figure out how the truck got like that until you said they were out there the day before trying to rescue it and then it made a lot more sense haha. Nice recovery as always!
Glad folks survived that fall, wow. And well done tO Mr Bostian for his clear headedness in managing the crisis - very smart.
Grumpy did a great job on the winching. Love the hat Grumpy 😂
Thank goodness no one was killed. 🙏
Grumpy’s Spiked Hat😂Great recovery😳both lucky to survive! Thanks for the awesome video 👍😎Stay safe!❤️🙏
Please be safe, your dealings with poison oak must be numerous. You both did a good job.
Grumpy spikes are the best spikes. It was neat to see the right part of the tree still being helpful after the top left. Hope the driver has a full and speedy recovery. Now we all want to see you ride the mini trains!
The jobs you get done with that little one ton wrecker are just amazing. That diesel must weigh a ton for the front wheels to stay on the ground, most of the time, and a heavy frame. I'm a Chevy guy but I have seen several of them, around the same vintage as yours, with the frame bowed between the bed and cab. You have a tough one that along with your knowledge has done it all without fail. I wish the driver a full recovery.
That’s why you never tie down the front end. That’s the trucks way of telling you to try something different
Impressive, efficient with 2/1 system; your patience and expertise paid off. And you cleaned out the environment & helped out the family in a grand way. Thanks for taking us along.
Maybe that model Taco has that "get stuck crawl out" option, if it starts!👍👍
The “Luckys spikes” save the day!😊
3:37 …. Never a dull moment with Casey 😂
Especially with those spikes!
Grumpy back..... hip hip hurray hip hip hurray..... Grumpy back....
those 2 boys took one HELL of a ride
I thought the guy said his dad was driving and his son was the passenger
@@davidwoermansr still two guys in the truck
@@tncountryboy06 2 guys yes 2 boys no
@@davidwoermansr lol. You’re definitely not from the south.
@@tncountryboy06 when I was a kid the stars and bars flew on the courthouse so you're probably right I must be from up by Canada somewhere
They were very lucky they did not get killed and you did a great job getting that out of there
Just glad the gentleman lived to learn from his experience that loose stones are not grippy the faster one drives. I had to learn that lesson as well.
Washboards on curves can make things go sideways quick even at low speeds from what the guy said it was an older man so I'm betting speed wasn't a factor like it was with the kids he pulled out of there with the TJ
I'm glad that Riley was able to see the trains.
I really hate it when brush is cut off high! It's very dangerous and could cause someone to be impaled, especially on uneven ground when slipping is likely.
Casey and grumpy....so American 👽🤖👽
For a "Grumpy Old Man", he's not doing bad at making me laugh 😂
Bless you Grumpy. Nice work Casey 👍 One Grumpy old man making another Grumpy old man laugh. (but I'm only 67).
Good that you had some extra help that was quite a rescue!🌹
Absolutely love when you guys get together, that guy rocks.😂
That was a good pull. They are lucky to walk away alive and not impaled by a tree or branch
According to the Toyota truck commercials you should be able to just drive it home.
Please don't take these as negative comments as I don't do your job, just observations. Watch where you put your hands inside, if it's warm and sticky you don't want to touch it - no judgements on anyone, just a general rule.
Climbing harness to winch yourself up and down? This is going to happen again.
Y'all did a fantastic job of recovery - I just want you to be as safe as possible.
Thank you for a great video!
I said it on the insta post and I'll say it again. Someone had a real bad day. 😕 I sure hope the driver is ok. I'm glad to hear the passenger was physically ok. That's a lot for a kid to deal with, so hopefully he's mentally ok too!
Nice work Casey. I know the camera never shows how steep it really is. I'm glad to see Grumpy back for more sketchy things!
My goodness Casey, what a job! Amazing team work with everyone involved in getting the truck up that steep hill.
Although I have all the confidence in the world in you, I found myself holding my breath more than once. You are amazing.
That was a tough one. So glad Grumpy was with you. His spikes were great! That accident was crazy. Glad the family came to retrieve the truck from you.
Lucky to be alive indeed! Amazing recovery. Thanks for taking us along.
I am very thankful that no one died and I pray for a full recovery for the driver.
Nice work and appreciate Uncle Grumps also Working The Truck. Good job guys
I adore Grumpy!
Wow , lucky guy. Not a lot of damage to the Tacoma.
you done all the hard work all I did was sit down and drink tea , nice to see grumpy back at work
Glad "shit didn't happen" with all those sticks poking out! Also reckon Grumpy was doing a good impression of "Happy" in this one!
