    • @TheFrugalCrediTnista
      @TheFrugalCrediTnista  Před 3 lety +1

      It could if it's new; when you pay off newer collections they can increase your scores a bit (depends on what else is going on with your credit) because you are bringing an unpaid collection to $0 paid collection. I'd SETTLE it vs paying it in full if you do decide to go that route, and I typically advise to dispute the account for validation FIRST, if it's validated, then negotiate a settlement in exchange for deletion. Quite a few companies do this now.

      Hi Justin,
      Medical providers are granted access to our medical information (very limited) to collect on a debt. Once they have been paid their access is terminated. Thus, some will just go ahead and delete once they have payment because they can no longer validate the debt if requested because they should no longer have our medical info on file

      +CCVPGUY If they have everything available to validate they debt they can pursue you for payment via the court systems - aka sue you.
      Have you checked your statute of limitations?
      Have you asked them to validate the debt?
      Do you have proof of the debt?
      I provided a LOT of details on dealing with collections through my book found here: bit.ly/CollectionBook
      As far as Pay to Delete; that's totally up to the collection agency; they don't have to do it and less than 20% do. Keep this in mind when planning your next steps.

That's a red flag and its answered a LOT, dispute an actually error - dates, balances, monthly reporting, anything. Those have the highest chances of getting removed.

    • @TheFrugalCrediTnista
      @TheFrugalCrediTnista  Před 4 lety

      If you can't pay it, you can't pay it. Let them know paying it in a week isn't an option and what other options do you have. If nothing, you will take the hit with your credit. If you can settle the acct, do so for 50% or under. Sometimes they offer this option right before the account is charged off, other times a little after.
      As far as credir, try to have everything else in your credit stellar and keep it there. As Sprints negative reporting ages it'll be scored less.
      I'd also dispute it if you find any little thing inaccurate once it reports - dates, balances, etc

If it's reporting every single month with a balance, paying it can give you a slight increase (some of our clients have gotten 60pts so it depends on how new it is too), negotiating a deletion is always best. If it is older, not actively reporting, then it can greatly reduce your scores. @TheFrugalCrediTnista  Před 6 lety

      Hmm why would you want to pay it in full? What would be your desired outcome by doing so? If it's to get it removed, most original creditors (especially major ones) will say no. If it's a smaller company or a collection agency, your chances increase, but after they get their money, they are not as open to deletions in exchange for payment. Doesn't hurt to try if your debt meets that criteria to see what they say.

    • @TheFrugalCrediTnista
      @TheFrugalCrediTnista  Před 6 lety

      The state statute of limitation probably hasn't run out, because each payment renewed it
      Federal reporting limitations is different from state-based statute of limitations. Federal reporting limitations mandates that no item can remain 7yrs from the date you were first past due on an account and never brought it current again. Statute (state) of limitations state that a creditor cannot enforce payment of a debt past a certain amount of time. Some of the things that can restart the statute of limitations is any payment, or any written payment arrangement or written acknowledgement of the debt (varies per state)
      Look up your state's statute of limitations to get clarity. If you need help and are on FB visit www.CreditMakesSense.me. If you need to chat schedule a consultation at creditsolutions.as.me/CreditChat

After the reporting companies repmoved this account, this collection company came out of no where and sent me the letter saying pay. Then 2 weeks latter they just sent another letter says i can settle for $400 now instead of the original $3400. Sounds desperate by them? So the original delt isnt reporting now. • @TheFrugalCrediTnista
      @TheFrugalCrediTnista  Před 6 lety

      The credit bureaus removed Chase because of the 7yr reporting limitation. This is the Federal Reporting Statute that I mentioned above
      Chase can still legally sell the debt, which they did to a collection agency
      From here, you have to research if they have legal grounds to enforce payment per your statue statute of limitation guidelines. This is the state-based statute of limitations rule.
      Two different laws.
      You didnt detail the date you last made a payment or your state.

But my question is how am I to dispute it with the credit bureau, under what terms? I can't dispute it by asking for a "debt validation", because by paying the debt I've already verified it. For best results, try to find an error - no matter how small - and dispute that. Some do not respond since it has already been paid resulting in a deletion
