    I'm the lady that did this with Gorilla tape :-) It was all I had in the house at the time. I like your version without the frame. It's been two years and mine is still holding up. I did find a dead spider stuck to an exposed sticky area recently soooooo watch for that. Great video, I'm glad you got some inspiration.

    Interesting! This actually looks closer to a fabric grid than the poster board version. Though, the fabric grids I'm seeing atm are all under about $10.

    • @nathanaellathrop5799
      @nathanaellathrop5799  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Yeah grids are really only expensive when they’re for the pricy softboxes. The down side is that these don’t fold that well, but the upside is that they’re crazy cheap and can be custom made for any size softbox.

    Why don’t you just use white tape to minimize the light loss?

    • @nathanaellathrop5799
      @nathanaellathrop5799  Před 3 lety +3

      Joseph Lippencott That might work! The light probably wouldn’t be as direct, since the white would make it bounce more, so I guess it’s a matter of preference.

  • @deenugent473
    @deenugent473 Před 3 lety +1

    I love the idea but wouldn't it stick to your softbox when you want it off? Don't get me wrong, I'd love to save money but I think that it will be troublesome to take it off if it starts to stick.

    • @nathanaellathrop5799
      @nathanaellathrop5799  Před 3 lety +1

      So far in the years I’ve had it, it has never stuck. If you do a really clean job of taping, and run a thin strip around the whole grid, it’s very stick free.

    • @nathanaellathrop5799
      @nathanaellathrop5799  Před 3 lety

      That’s a bummer. Some folks have made grids out of card stock, which might be a bit lighter. Also, I’ve found that adding bagged weights, such as ankle weights (which I have found at thrift stores) to the base of your light stand helps keep the whole thing more stable.
