  • BiodiverCity is a groundbreaking project in Malaysia, involving the development of a trio of sustainable artificial islands off the coast of Penang. The project is a government-led initiative focused on enhancing Malaysia's livability, economy, and environment through sustainable projects and development. The masterplan, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in collaboration with Ramboll and local architects Hijja's, aims to create a new sustainable global destination where cultural, ecological, and economic growth is secured, and where people and nature coexist. The development is part of the Penang2030 vision, with a clear focus on livability, socially- and economically inclusive development, and environmental sustainability for future generations. Penang's rich biodiversity has been affected by urbanization in recent times, prompting the creation of BiodiverCity as an Urban Mosaic comprising three distinct islands.
