im glad i was born in a more modernized year like 2010 where all these old torture methods are deemed as scary and when people found studies that these methods can actually ruin all of our lives. i know for a fact that it sounds horrible being born back then when these torture methods were around. 💀

They made punishment terrible for a reason. Nobles had Knights(cops) and so did the king. Catching somebody was incredibly difficult.
They ballenced this by making the punishments excessive if found guilty. Steal? Get the hand that stole cut off. Cheat on your partner? Get your eyes gouged out so you won't be enticed by the look of others.
Back then your family and perhaps the church were the only people who would stick up for you as a civilization.
