Thanks for the vid, you should pin a comment letting people know you aren't supposed to cut the flat metal strip, just pull it back out.

I did this install late last year. Instead of cutting the band with the nuts, just secure the nut/mount and pull the bar out aggressively… it is holding the nut on with tape only, so it slides off. I inserted the bar into the circular hole next to where the OP inserted his. I had to trim my black, lower brackets about an inch for the hood to close properly. In their full length they caused the hood to teeter-totter a little bit. I let the manufacturer know this, so maybe they have started shipping shorter ones

Thanks for the video sir. Gave me the courage to do this install myself. If I may add to your installation video..... I used a small flat chisel under the plastic rivets and a slight tap with a hammer, the rivet came loose. Next, like you I went thru the elongated opening and screwed in the the ball screw from the outside. Here's what I found out .... on the nut extender arm, place the jagged part against the metal. When you screw in the balled part into the nut, the jagged part of the screw catches on the metal and you get a tight fit. If you use the flat part against the metal behind, when you screw in the ball screw, it just spins and does not tighten. I don't know If I make any sense. I did my install today Aug. 14th. Took about 20 minutes after watching your video.
As someone mentioned already, you don't have to cut the metal .... just pull it out, it's held in by electrical tape.
Thanks for taking the time to do this video. Cheers from Ontario. 👍

I just received this set of struts today. (9/13/23) Glad I found this video! Instruction “manual” really is next to useless! I have a ‘23 Santa Cruz SEL Premium. Having read the reviews and comments about the lower brackets touching the hood, that’s the first thing I tried. No contact, no problem. The company must have corrected the issue.

I did the identical install, but my hood is not closing comfortably. Did you have this problem also?

Trim the top of the bracket down about 3/4 to 1”. Basically at the bottom of the top hole, then redrill the same sized hole. It’ll still raise/lift properly and at the right height.
