Zyryab (Paco de Lucía) - Los Azulejos Live at Fécule Festival

- Los Azulejos perform their arrangement of Paco de Lucía’s flamenco classic "Zyryab" with guest musicians from Switzerland, taking you on a sonic journey through instruments and sounds of the east and west!
Ziryab was a virtuoso oud player, singer, poet, and a prominent figure in the Islamic Middle Ages.
Born in Bagdad in 790, he was chased from the city by his jealous teacher, and ended up moving to Córdoba (Andalucía) as a court musician, where he became a major influence on music and fashion, giving birth to the first modern conservatories of western Europe. He is thought to be one of the early roots of flamenco music, and was celebrated by Paco de Lucía with this composition from 1991. More than a thousand years later!
This arrangement was recorded live in December 2020, at La Grange de Dorigny, for the digital edition of Fécule Festival. It is intended as a double tribute to Paco de Lucia and Chick Corea, two geniuses of music and great inspirations who recently passed away.
Special thanks to Jonas Guyot for the opportunity to perform at the festival.

@@longleglaurin6937 That's actually a soprano saxophone, not a clarinet!

Superbe performance bravo à tous
Bellissimo arrangiamento.
Grazie mile!
Bravo ! Excellent rendition.
Great! The oud sounds much better then the instrument on Paco´s recording. The whole thing does not sound very "flamenco", but that´s OK for this composition.
Nice version - very cool
Magiquement sublime !!

wow

if austrian internet was any better i could have enjoyed the 4k version but meh just audio is fine eough
YOU GUYS ARE PRETTY GOOD YOU NEED TO PROMOTE THE CHANNEL MORE
Thank you we're recording new clips! :)
Best
There's a Moroccan guy who played this before you , you should give him credit for that ...just the oud player I'm not talking about the whole band
This tune was written by Paco de Lucía, not by any oud player. We played the line fron the original mandolin player. We did not listen to any Oud version. Playing the same instrument as someone else doesn’t mean you stole anything, there is no intelectual property associated with the simple use of instruments. Only original music has to be credited, if the instrument doesn’t change the notes. Thanks for understanding ;)

Nothing personal, it just sounded identical sorry
They play the Oud in Spain too???
Not really, but Zyryab used to play the Oud back in the middle ages. This piece is a tribute to him!
