I am a certified Google Trainer. Be aware, when and if you decide to take the level 2 test you want to study how to use a lot of the apps Google utilizes that aren't as popular. Sometimes, unfortunately, "things" aren't where they are in "real Google," either. Good luck! I love following you and share your videos with so many teachers I train weekly.

I took both exams several years ago. I was the only teacher in my school to pass Level I and the only teacher in the district to pass Level II (others were later successful). The exams were extremely rigorous, with many time-consuming multi-step performance tasks. Most people needed the full 3 hours or even ran out of time! If you failed, you needed to wait 14 days, second fail: 2 months, 3d fail: one year!

Congratulations!💃 I'm proud to say I have passed both levels 1 and 2 Google certifications examinations. Passing made me feel Google empowered.😎 However, I did complete the Google Fundamental and Advanced training before I signed up for each exam.

Can u explain the purposes for taking the exam? Is your school requesting it, are u getting a pay raise, is in required and is it just a test re: google in the classroom? You can tell, I'm so confused.😊
@@pattidavis8043I completed the training and sat the exams simply for professional development because I wanted to confirm my test-taking ability in today's world.😊 I also regard Google as a positive in education and assume the certifications enhance my email signature.💃 A plus, the exams weren't an out-of-pocket expense because my school received a grant for Google examination vouchers, and we were encouraged not to make them go to waste.💸

Props to you for going in blind for the level 1 exam. When I took it through my old district they really scared us about how difficult it would to pass. It wasn’t till I took it that I realized it wasn’t as hard as they built it up to us. 😅

As a side note, you can look up the answers if you want to while taking the test. From what I understood, the webcam is just to make sure that you are the one who is taking the test the whole time.
Ahhh, yes... that makes sense! I just looked into it further and it appears the certification exams are open-note. I always assume that exams aren't that way so I didn't look anything up or even touch my phone while I was taking it 😂

Your video encouraged me to take a look and get certified. I did PD on this a few years back and never pull the trigger on the test. So I decided to give it a chance yesterday (after having 4 years of Google everything and classroom experience), but now feeling a bit discourage with the Google test. I thought I was doing well with my knowledge of Google programs through the training pages and failing miserably with the review tests. Maybe I hit something different in the education section of the website, but not feeling great. :(

I'm so happy to hear that this encouraged you to look into the certification! 🥰 As I mentioned in the video, there were definitely questions I was unsure of, even as a pretty tech-savvy person so don't feel bad at all! I took Google Level 1 and passed a couple of years ago. I have never ventured into taking Level 2 though. You got this!
Wow! The test has changed. When i took it a few years ago it was all based on actually creating documents. It was hard and I ran out of time.
Yup, I am sure they change the exam every few years as the technology changes and maybe they changed the format of the exam to better fit the content.

What are the benefits of taking the exam?
It familiarizes you with everything Google has to offer that is relevant to teachers. Some districts or schools may ask or prefer that you be level 1 certified.
Having a certification can be a great resume builder and definitely helps establish credibility if you're giving PDs to other educators, either through your school or as a consultant. Certifications can definitely be a way to open new opportunities professionally, if it aligns with your goals.
I have never been at a school with good tech. I took Google Educator Part 1 right before leaving Japan. Passed on my second try, and then I was in China for 5 years. What to note about China...Google is only accessible here with a VPN, so when the time came to renew (after 3 years) it didn't, it seemed pointless. I tried at the end of June to see if I could pass without studying, and I didn't the first go around. It didn't help that Google through a VPN was also incredibly slow the night I tried. It's fine too. I wouldn't call myself "not techy" but never being at any school with good technology and the last time I was at a school where Google for education could be used at all being 5 years ago (as Google is largely not used in China) I'm just not in good practice with it. I'm leaving China in less than a week though, and going somewhere where I can use Google again, I'm doing my second go around shortly, after having done some studying. Hopefully this time around I get it!
Thanks for doing this! I took the Level 1 exam a couple of years ago when i used Google heavily in the classroom. It expires after a couple years so i need to take it again. Waffling on whether or not i should study for it. I did the last time and found it pretty easy.
I wonder if you have other listeners who could compare it from two years ago to today.

I’ve heard of it before and it does interest me but I’m not sure what comes next. During the pandemic one of my coworkers was a google educator and never explained what she did or how she did it! So I was always confused of what it is!! I hope I-make sense. 😅😊❤

They have changed the test during the last year or so. Before that, you would have had all the multiple-choice and performance tasks. I think there was an issue with staffing with Google so they changed the test to multiple choice only. You would have breezed through the task.

I was wondering about this! I also took it a few years ago and remembered it being very heavy on performance tasks - like "send this email, make this sheet and put in these formulas". It was very interesting to see it is only multiple choice questions now. I feel like the performance tasks is what made it take a few hours. Thanks Michelle for your videos! I've watched every one for many years - they helped me when I was interviewing for my first teaching job and I'm going into my 6th year now. :)
I don’t mean to sound like a hater, but the exam is super cheap unlike the Praxis tests, so I wouldn’t expect it to be a very difficult exam.
The exams are completely different so you can't compare them. The PRAXIS test is to earn a teaching certificate to actually teach so it makes sense that it would cost more and be more difficult. That being said, I personally didn't study for the PRAXIS and passed without any issues so I didn't find it to be overly difficult. Everyone is different.

Did you ever receive your score? I just took and passed the test, but they only emailed me my certificate link and not a score. I contacted Google to ask about this, but I don't know if I'll ever hear back.
Good question! I assumed you would receive your actual score but I was mistaken! You just get notified that you pass and then get your certificate.

Hey Michelle. I’ve been subscribed for a few years now! I remember you had your eyebrows microbladed.. are you going to touch it up at some point? It looks like it’s gone.. curious about the process.
I had them microbladed 5 years ago and never did any touch ups so it has definitely faded but it's still there some if you look close up. If I had done touch ups, it would be more noticable but I personally chose not to.
