When Westin said that the door was a smoking deal, then I seen Waylon smoking, I thought, oh shit here we go again
I was there last time. I seen it!
I was a welder for over 40 years. On taking the broken bolt out. First weld a smaller flat washer to the broken bolt by welding in the center of the washer. Then weld a nut on the flat washer by welding the outside of the nut. Then you can use a socket or wrench to back it out. Worked good for me. And love to watch you working and all of the knowledge that you have.
I'd say you learned enough from the gentlemen who painted the Peterbilt to be able to paint match the Ram. Go for it. I did
He should probably paint the entire side so it matches.
Paint halfway into the back door to blend the paints you'll never know
@@billybobthornton4186 You cannot 'blend' part way on a body panel. Clear Coat malfunction etc. Get door/fender/hood pro painted.

Im not disagreeing with what you guys are saying but he has 530k subs for a reason. I dont exactly like how he destroys everything but his video are for entertainment purposes and trucks are just material things they're not something to make a big deal about

You’re spot on disconnecting the batteries. I didn’t really believe it. I welded on multiple vehicles without disconnecting the battery. No issues. Then on my 2004 Dodge Ram Cummins I was making a new flat bed. I did disconnect the positive cable and left the ground cable due to the amount of welding. It boiled and ruined my brand new interstate batteries. Did some research. It said to disconnect the negative and the positive. Now I’m a believer.
I know a guy who welded a stack to his flatbed and fried the pcm amd ecmc on a 2 gen cummins
What I love about this is that my dad's garage was a lot like this garage, shit falling all over the place all the time. But a lot of great projects were done in my father's garage.

One trick I learnt many moons ago when I was doing my panel beating apprenticeship, When it comes to snapped bolts in frame grab a couple of old nuts and weld down the centre of them to the snapped off bolt. That way it gives you a bolt head to put a socket on and prevents those accidental tacks onto the body, Essentially it creates a new bolt out of a stuffed one and it’s saved me many a time.

My dad just loves watching your CZcams programs and then he saw that you were on another site Mopar in Michigan bragged about you of taking a 2019 replacing the door in the fender and I was told I'll total old vehicle and you were fixing it guess what the new door and fender that's all I needed great job

If you’re worried about welding the fender to the bolt, just put a nut or washer down, so you don’t hit the edges. 👍🏼

Westen I got a tip for you, you've certainly paid it forward. Your way worked but I think only because the truck was so new and there was no rust or anything. Next time in that situation, if it's an older truck, take a nut, hold it over the broken bolt and fill in the center of the nut with weld and then you have something you can put a ratchet to to remove the old bolt. Seen someone do this with broken manifold bolts (because they all break) and it worked perfectly. Kind of hoping I get to try it myself at some point. Either way keep it up brother!

Top tip, centre punch a hole and drill it out, then you can tap in a torques bit into said hole then spin out what is left of the bolt.
This is what we need. Let the “Virginia is about to have a civil war”, talk... rest for a few minutes.
On the door bolt removal you can hold a nut with pliers against the broken bolts. Mig weld through the nut center to attach it to the broken stud. This will heat the broken bolt and allow you to screw it out with the matching wrench.
Everybody: watches weston put a cummins in a ford
Weston: buys a red 2019 cummins and replaces the door.
Somebody: what about the red mustang cummins swap

@@dieselman8v923 He got butthurt when people told him they didnt care he bought his dad a new luxury car and wanted him to release an actual repair video. Since he has made only a single repair video in the last 6 months.
Chris basically spent the whole year drifting and doing meet ups with fans, which is cool, but he played all summer and doesnt work in the winter and has showed off over 100grand worth of luxury vehicles he has bought and people let him know they weren't going to continue supporting if he thought he was going to be able to make money off showing off his money (plenty of youtubers do this as they get bigger) rather than releasing the content everyone subbed to him for.
So he cried about it, deleted all the constructive criticism, made another post saying he wasnt going to release the video to trigger the fans who blindly support no matter what and they all stroked his ego until he released the video anyway because no way was he going to miss out on that paycheck.
Basically Chris has let a lot of the shit go to his head. He has never been a true mechanic, always just a shade tree guy who happened to be very good video editor and cared about camera angles unlike 99% of car channels.
But the fact that he went and bought a ready-made $$$ off road Hummer rather than buying a hummer and rigging it up himself really goes to show how he feels about the car scene. I think if Chris could snap his fingers and change the focus of his channel channel from fixing cars he would in an instant.
It's not that I blame him. He obviously makes a shit ton of money off sponsorships from car companies to advertise their products (Autozone mainly). But channels that were making bank and seemed unstoppable have dissapeared in an instant when they tried to stay from their original content before and we would hate to see him do the same.

yeah no way would I tack a small hole on a new truck sheet metal with a stick.. and I welded thin sheet metal with a stick welder, it is no fun, and it's super easy to blow holes through sheet metal with it.

Westin what you need is some left hand drill bits. It works well for removing broke bolts like that. Start drillimg through and eventually you either go am the way through and you get a easy out, or the bolt bites and the drill bit pulls it out
Takes screw out, tosses it on ground 🤾🏽♂️. Next video will be : getting screw out of tire🤷🏽♂️
Those werent screws boss, theyre bolts and almost certainly wont catch in a tire and make a hole like a screw will
