I am a beneficiary of "best house on the block" parenting. It did not fix all my social lacking but I did have lots of friends and I kept most of them from elementary school through college. Honestly we become friends with the people we see frequently and creating a welcoming environment means your kid see the other kids more often.
This has really helped me to understand ADHD, and even enforce some things I thought pertained to ADHD. My father has Tourette's Syndrome, 2 of my 4 children have it as well, combined with ADHD, and my daughter has ODD. I am raising two grand boys who also have ADHD and are being tested for other learning/ behaviour disabilities. I feel like a weight has been lifted listening to these videos. I have been told repeatedly that this was not genetic, but I know differently now. There is so much I want to say, but I better stop now.😉😉Thank-you so very much for helping me get to know ADHD better. Thank-you for giving me more to take to those horrid school meetings to advocate for my children.I will recommend theses videos to anyone who has an ADHD child!!!!!
That second question. How are you supposed to make other kids feel welcome when you have ADHD too and have a lot of trouble keeping your house clean? LMAO!
Make friends with other ADHD moms with ADHD kids... it will be a blast, it can end up with one of the houses exploding, or with a collective hyperfocus on cleaning, YOU NEVER KNOW!! XD

I really really like Barkley but I feel as though he's removing the agency of the child a little, I think helping the child understand why they are stuggling would help, I think any ADHD adult would agree looking back. Just tell them what their promary focus should be and tell them why its so hard. OK for a 5 year old maybe not but 10 and up for certain, even a bright younger child could potentially understand that they just have more trouble holding things in mind, its worth a shot.
