I figure also its not worth is because every pickup has risks. I could slip and break my back and uber doesn't have benefits like workers comp. The base pay needs to pay for risk, gas, vehicle depreciation. So basically might as well quit driving now, every order is bullshit. Lol

Greed? Sure. Absolutely. But you forgot one very important word: “desperation”. They offer these $2-$3 orders because they know there’s enough desperate drivers out there.. clinging to any kind of hope that there’s some hidden tip. Or maybe the platform algorithm will reward them for their efforts. It’s a tough way to make an easy living.

A boycott won't work. If Uber raises the price on the customer, most ppl will stop using them. Meaning less orders to be spread around. You'll get 2x per order and 1/10 the number of orders and make even less money.
But if you can get a boycott going, please do! Myself and all the other drivers who actually understand business will highly appreciate all that extra income we would get.

For every delivery order Uber collects a booking and book keeping fee from the customer, the driver and the restaurant. They have more drivers than they need for the number of deliveries that they have. They collect three fees for every delivery. That's a lot of money. UberEATS driver support has been mediocre for me. They are definitely not paying top dollar for there driver/customer support side of the business. They've become strict and cheap with reimbursements. With tip baiting, I believe they should alert the driver of when they don't receive a tip just like they do when you actually receive a full tip or more. Doing deliveries since 2020, never had tips taken from me ever and then bam, tip baited twice in three days last month. I hope they notice and flag these tip bait customers.

I think everyone is going through rough economic times and are still addicted to having someone deliver regardless of if they have money or want to pay. The entitlement.... I can't use it, every offer is 15+ miles, I'm in a high traffic area too yet everything seems to be 17 miles for 10 dollars. Of course if you return to your starting point that's a gallon maybe even 2 depending on your miles per gallon plus around 40-55 mins total time. There's just never any orders I can take that make any sense financially, maybe 1 out of 40, 50 offers. Inflation and the economy is admittedly bad but still there's no excuse for the usury going on within these apps, and it's all of them not just Uber. It is 100% usury and it will force Government intervention at some point. These companies are using the contractor loop hole to pay some people less than minimum wage. Some of these people are young inexperienced 18 year old kids that don't realize what they are actually making. It's predatory, and there will be a reckoning.

Do you use thermal bags to keep food warm or cold? Do you use anti tamper stickers on the orders? Do you communicate with the customer through text on who you are and what's going on with their order such as slow kitchen, traffic delays? Start being professional at your job and the tips will come in. I have been driving since June 2020 with UberEats. I have a 55% acceptance ratio with 99% tip ratio too. I have noticed they seem to be pricing the base pay at about 0.50 a mile on long trips (5-20 miles) , which would only cover the gas. Except many of these orders are dead head trips making you drive back empty effectively making it 0.25 per mile. Even if that covers the gas for that trip, it does nothing for car maintenance or your time.

In the past month, the orders have gotten really really low and a lot less offers in the past 2 weeks. I have been joking about getting a blister on my finger from declining all the bad and backwards offers. Thankfully, this is just a side hustle & I don't have to rely on that income. Heather xo

For any new drivers it always takes a while before they understand that they can decline order after order. There has always been an up and down to the offers, but in the past few months it has been more down than usual. It is what it is. I would be happy if Doordash or Uber or GrubHub paid higher base fares to the drivers, but I don’t have hope that that is what is actually going to happen. Uber Eats in my area has much less orders that come through than DoorDash, however I typically make way more money on the orders (largely due to kind tippers). The trash orders occasionally come in which I don't accept. For some reason I always get the best tips on UE and many times they are increased afterwards which rarely happens on DoorDash. Ever since Ubereats made the change in base fare with this “Trip Supplement” in the beginning of this year, I’ve noticed 98% of my the orders I’ve received are like this. The best I’d get averages $1 a mile. Which doesn’t fly because you have to add the miles driving back to your zone. No kidding, when I did exclusively UE, my AR was 2%. It’s as if no one tips anymore. And trip radar is far worse. 100% are not profitable. Like less than $8 an hour bad.And IF there is a good one on radar, someone else is simultaneously getting a ping for it and it will always say it was matched with another driver. Its so bad I switched to doing rideshare only.
