    This "trip" is soooo much more than just a trip! It is a VERY good look into how the transformation in how we travel (using EV`s) can be done, in a country where the geographical challenges for a useful chraging network are extreme. In addition to that, Ole really sums up (look after 20:25) the whole essence on how the future should be built for countries willing to transform private transportation. The incentives we have here in Norway (thx to the government), combined with the willingness of companies like Fortum, and all the power companies to really work together to make things happen, is just awesome! Thank you Bjørn for showing us what the future might look like, when you have people and politicians seeing "the big picture". The fututre looks bright!

    Thanks for visiting my area, and for an interesting insight into the plans of Fortum! I live in Båtsfjord, and have been dreaming about ev driving for a few years now.
    Got an Outlander PHEV to test out electric for everyday driving, while not being limited when needing to visit Kirkenes (250 km one way) or family trips to the Bodø area.
    Hearing the plans of Fortum makes me confident that our next car will be full EV!
    Great videos, and series! Thank you Bjørn and Ole! Thumbs up!

    Great video series! Are the blue 32 and 63 amp 4-pin plugs really 3 Phase or are they split-single-phase, like 2L+N+PE? If they are 3 phase, they'd have to be 3L+PE (no N), which would make the useless for a charger like the one in the Model 3....

  • @OMeuTesla
    @OMeuTesla Před 4 lety

    Hello Bjorn! Did Fortum managed to build EV Stations far North as intended? I checked their site and cannot find any charger on the map in northern Norway. I’m from Portugal and planning a trip to Norway.

    • @zedski
      @zedski Před 3 lety +1

      Nope, almost none of these chargers ended up being built. Vattenfall (inCharge) is now building some HPCs in this area. There are enough chargers to visit North Cape with relative ease though, the only charging wasteland really is the leg between Alta and North Cape where there are no fast chargers of any kind still. But this is easily mitigated by staying the night in Honningsvåg and charging there at one of the 2 hotels that have AC chargers. Visited North Cape and Tromsa this summer from southern Finland with a Model 3 and had a great time.

  • @Gerben2903
    @Gerben2903 Před 4 lety

    hi bjorn is it possible that you give a short update about the network and when it is ready? We are planning a trip to the North Cape from the Netherlands

    • @GormHornbori
      @GormHornbori Před 4 lety

      First of all. If you are only going to the North Cape, there already is a charging network since 2014. E-Route 71 has 22kW Type2 AC chargers.
      There are also some new non-Fortum Fast Chargers: In Alta there are new double 50kW CCS + Chademo + 22kW AC chargers. In Kåfjord there is a new 50kW CCS + Chademo charger + 43kW Type2. (But not operational yet?)
      If you have a Tesla: Tesla is promising a supercharger network covering all of Finnmark in 2020.
      If you don't have a Tesla and you want to go places like Mehamn or Karasjok, there is still no good solution (only slow ad-hoc charging.)
      For this project, it's delayed. Fortum was the only provider with an offer to the tender from ENOVA. But Fortum wants to build faster chargers than ENOVA asked for (and therefore wants more money). In November there was still negotiations. If you are optimistic, it'll happen summer 2020.

      @Kowalski301 Před 5 lety +1

      This was May 22, at 69-71 degree north, and spring was indeed late this year. The snow cover is mostly on mountain passes, and because there is almost no trees in Finnmark, the terrain is extremely exposed to strong wind, which create massive hardpacked snowdrifts in every terrain depression during the winter. These snowdrifts takes a long while to melt, and give the impression there is snow "everywhere" despite it melted on the steets and around peoples houses several weeks earlier.
