Just a little sad how the girls rejected Screech. He was so much kinder & nicer then Zack. R.I.P. Dustin Diamond. Yes he may of done some really horrible, doucheie stuff in his past but @ least he was trying to fix things before he got sick & passed !!
I agree. I think that is one thing about SBTB that would not fly today. We were expected to find it “humorous” to see Screech keep getting rejected. But if that happened to a guy or even to a girl in real life, it would not be humorous at all, it would be devastating to a young person’s sense of self esteem.

Funny I found this video today, when my brother and I were talking about this very thing this morning! I always felt bad for Dustin Diamond, not just because Screech was the perpetual punchline, but because it felt like Dustin was cast solely to be mocked. Dustin was already 3-4 years younger than everyone else.... As adults, 3-4 years makes no noticable difference. However, as pre-teens, teens, those formative years make SO MUCH difference. So already, he felt disconnected from his castmates who were roughly the same age. As awful as it sounds, his appearance was to be mocked - he wasn't even allowed to wear on-trend clothing. So here he is, several years younger than his model-beautiful coworkers.... And his character's basic purpose is to be the awkward, dorky goofball. Dustin himself said in interviews that girls would approach him...... To ask for Mark-Paul or Mario's number, to try to get to Mark-Paul or Mario, And on and on. Imagine that being your life, for YEARS. Then imagine when the nostalgia boom ushers in a whole new generation of SBTB fans.... And it's the same old same old. I can't see a way for that to NOT make someone very unhappy.

I agree also that being younger that the other cast members meant that he was more sensitive than an older person might be about being typecast as the least popular kid in the bunch. That’s true, he said that in real life he had a crush on Tori Spelling, but she was more interested in hooking up with Mark-Paul.

Looking back on it now I do cringe at those Screech moments when they go out of their way to mock him on the show. It didn't need to be a constant bit on the show. I'm not surprised with how the actor turned out when he was typecasted into that character.

So Eric brought his younger brother who, according to the actor's birthdate, was 13. An obnoxious little perv who said to Liz while they were dancing, "Woo! Work that shiny heiney!" You may remember him as the youngest brother on the sitcom "Thea."
I don't think he's undatable. His approach was off. He should have simply asked. The problem with Screech is that he's the odd ball in the group of friends so he's a mix between the "cool" guys and a bridge between the "nerds" of the school. So he's neither there or here. The other "nerds" of the show were able to find a suitable date to the prom so Screech should have simply went with his own "kind."
Also don't put yourself on a timeline. Bad idea to assume that milestones are to be met in terms of a relationship. In my class, I think only one guy married his high school sweetheart and I don't think he went to the prom with her. Also thing you have to remember is that everyone wants to go to the prom so just be brave and ask, if you haven't already.
I would say, don’t label yourself and associate with screech. He was a made-up character. Also, Lisa ends up, asking him to the prom and I thought she was the hottest character in the show. So screech won in my opinion. Also, if you are still in high school, things change once you graduate. You can become anyone that you want to be. Stop worrying about what anyone else thinks and just be yourself and the magic will happen.

Why did you ask that with hash tags? Also, the real life Mark Gosslar was going out with Lark during the show. It's not apparent at first but you can see many episodes where the two looked like they were very close in terms of how Mark would get comfortable around her.
