Coming from a Mexican family, I can confirm that as a kid I had to hug and kiss every person in a room of about 50 people during family gatherings. Then you also have to do it on the way out and it takes about an hour to get out the door 😂

We, Latin Americans are very passionate. However, we don't go around hugging and kissing everyone we met for the first time, most of the times it's just a "hi! *smile*". Like in every other country, there are outgoing people and others who are more introverted. So, if you happen to meet someone from South America and that person greets you with a kiss/hug, it's probably someone extroverted/outgoing.
We are all friendly, of course. But we also want to have our space.
There are plenty of stereotypes about Argentina, and all of South America but like I said, since everyone is different those things do not apply to everyone.

Well i AM from Perú, and You greet with a Kiss if someone ( friend or family) introduces to that new person, if they are both young they usually Kiss ( female with female , and female with male), but i wouldn't Say it's and affectionate or invasive Kiss ( is just cheek with cheek). Since i AM used to it, i find that less invasive than giving a hug, when a person hug me i feel it more invasive. When You 'kiss' that new person they don't usually hug You, that would be really rare and uncomfortable.

Rescato que a veces es cansador pero a la vez es cercano, amable, respetuoso, le haces notar a la persona que esta ahi sino es como si no existiera... Gracias chicas por representarnos 🇦🇷🥰

  • @whatisilyionlyknowipurpleyou

My family heritage is from Peru, so this is very true for pretty much all Latin countries not just South America. They say you don’t normally “kiss” or hug on the first meet, but I actually don’t believe that anymore. It’s very common to do so in the *first* meeting. Also, relatable to greeting EVERYONE at parities, even the strangers. It’s considered rude and “your above everyone else here” to not greet me and my family, kind of thing. It’s so funny to remember back when you enter to a party and you spend like 5-10 minutes just going around the room or yard, hugging and kissing, hugging and kissing, hugging and kissing, and “hola, Cómo estás? Bien y tu? Muy bien, hasta luego” and so on. AND THE CHANCLA! It’s always the mom (and the belt for fathers) LOL. This was too relatable 😂

So true about greeting everyone at parties… if you don’t kiss and hug everyone it’s seen as really rude and as if you think you’re better than others. Even if it’s 100 people at the party like she said, it’s a must! It’s a little funny because since often parties are really big there’s people you don’t know and while greeting them you’re both talking saying “nice to meet you! My name is ___ I’m your cousin, parent’s friend, etc” rushing to talk before you move to the next person. As a South American person though I’ve definitely made some mistakes introducing myself at parties w people from other cultures :’) I forget that it’s not common so I have be aware, like the sisters said your parents (especially your mom) really drills the greeting into you because if not your family could be seen as disrespectful!😭

Filipinos (please note we're Asians) greet the same way as how Soledad greeted Seungwoo :) although that is reserved to our family, relatives, and close friends. :) We call it "beso". We' also have to hug and kiss every person in the room (especially when we were kids). If we miss one person, our parents would call us and say "greet your tio/tia" and we'll give them a beso and a hug or "mano". That's how we also show respect to them.

@3:38 I just discussed this with my mother this morning. I'm from Southern USA (same area as previous visitor Renee), and she taught us to speak to everyone when entering a room. Hugs and kisses 😘😘. Well maybe not kisses. But it is disrepectful to not greet everyone, especially uncles and aunties. My aunties were complaining about a cousin not greeting family when he came to party yesterday. I said maybe it's because he is only 23 years old.

For putting things away in the oven I was told it is better for keeping insects/roaches away because it seals close better. Cabinets doors tend to be less tight so if you store in the oven you don't have to worry about germs of that kind.

From the Caribbean here, festivities we have to kiss and hug everyone in the party or it will be respectful not to do it and if I did something to anger my mom I had to watch out for whatever shoes she had because she will be hitting me with them regardless and if she did not had shoes on, whatever she grabbed that was near her was her weapon so I just ran for my life every single time (well tried to run cause she would just throw the shoe at me and accurately hit every single time). Plus every single weekend at 6am she was already with the broom "sweeping" the house and hitting aggressively the bottom part of my bedroom door already mad because we were oversleeping.

  • @isisribeiroaesthetics3667

it's really similar to Portugal here lol I could relate to everything especially the mom nagging before going out hahaha and the pans in the oven my family does that a lot and I gotta say I think it's convenient although you gotta take everything out to use it lol. The only difference is with the slipper, Portuguese mom can use that if she's in a hurry but if she has time she goes in the kitchen and gets the "colher de pau" (wooden spoon) to hit us lol

So yes very accurate the saying hello and goodbye to all family members but usually if they aren’t family or friends and you don’t really know them if it’s a first meeting we tend to just say a regular hello or a hand shake and then the following time we say hello and good bye with a kiss, at least that’s how it works for my family sometimes, tho sometimes they skip the awkwardness and will say hello with a kiss Anyways, but that isn’t typical. It will take forever to say hello to everyone you have to travel the room to everyone even wait for someone to get out the bathroom. Then they will stay to hangout for a long time after they said they were going to leave, then they say their good byes but then keep talking??? Tbh the only way to make them leave actually is the kids complaining to leave or the conversation finally ending 40 minutes later😭😭😭😭
