  • We regularly give Patrons the opportunity to ask Jimmy Akin and Dom Bettinelli their mysterious questions and make them available exclusively to Patrons first and then later to the whole audience. This time the questions cover Frankenstein's monster; the Piedmont UFO flap; pyramids and floods; and more.

Howdy, folks! Sorry for the video problem with the other version of this week's episode. Not sure what happened. Dom is not around at the moment, so I caught the problem early and re-uploaded the file here with fixed video. 😊

Maybe another reason Israelists fell away and followed the false gods was that the Jewish faith had so many rules whereas maybe by believing in false gods you could do whatever you wanted.
Plus look at how pro-abortion people are today. They are proud of their abortions and they are able to virtue-signal to others how much they "care" about women's "rights".
Maybe in the ancient world sacrificing your child was "the "responsible" thing to do for the good of the community" and you could then get sympathy points and bragging rights/social credit for doing so.
In short, People followed the false gods (even going as far as to sacrifice their children) because it "justified" and empowered their selfishness.

If diet drinks or "another commonly taken substance" were dangerous we would see people dropping dead or collapsing on the spot, young people getting heart attacks, many people getting myocarditis, people's immune systems being compromised, or any number of other horrible side effects. Thankfully "nothing" 😉🙄🤐 in recent history has had those side effects on people. (Trust the science 💲💸💰)

I wanted to point out a connection between Frankenstein's Monster and Van Hohenheim, since you mentioned both in this podcast. Paracelsus was one of Dr. Frankenstein's primary sources in his research in Mary Shelley's novel. In fact, there's no mention of grave-robbing in the book; the implication is Frankenstein's creation was made from scratch via a combination of 16th century alchemy and modern (at the time, 19th century) technology: Frankenstein's monster was an artificial human - a homonculus, not a reanimated corpse.

"Natural" ... In high school a friend asked our Science teacher why marijuana was considered so bad if it was "natural"? I'll never forget his reply. "Well, arsenic, lead and mercury are all 'natural,' but I wouldn't recommend ingesting them."

The thing with the Frankenstein monster is it is basically a reanimated corpse/or parts of multiple corpses. The souls that inhabited those would have already faced a particular judgement after death. The same would apply for people who are cryogenically frozen. Their soul would have already moved on upon death. If they managed to reanimate the body and let's say upload some form of memory backup on a computer chip, wouldn't they essentially just be like a type of robot or cyborg without an actual spiritual soul? I just don't get how it would be the same soul if death/judgement has already occurred.

Hope Dom and family enjoy their time away. Editing after watching to mention that I'm allergic to every artificial sweetener, and can't bear the aftertaste of the alternative natural ones. I'm not diabetic, though, so I looked for other ways to decrease my sugar intake. I've found that raw sugar, a.k.a. turbinado sugar, is much sweeter, so I use half as much in my coffee and on non-sugary cereal. I also use half as much for baking, so I try to stick to homemade pastries, cakes and cookies when I want a snack. I also use 100% whole wheat, since I don't have any gluten issues. However, it takes a little more whole wheat flour to provide the same amount of gluten that's necessary to make baked goods turn out right, so it may just be a slight shifting of total carbs by using less sugar and more ww flour.

I had been taught that levites who had been set on watch during the passover days wore only a linen robe. If one was caught having fallen asleep they were stripped of their robe and forced to run home naked and in shame. The disciples had been asked to keep watch with Jesus, but had fallen asleep. I was taught that the Man who ran away naked was a place holder or symbol for the failure of the disciples who failed in their duty.

Following on your talk about Frankenstein's monster, I would love an episode on the moral implications of AI. Isn't AI potentially similar to Frankenstein's monster? Some AI's have described themselves as self-aware, having feelings and opinions...but coming across as naive and child-like. Can some AI programs become sentient? I don't think they would have anything like a human soul...but what do I know? That's up to God!

@JimmyAkin, thank you! You just made my day!
When you said that Stevia was "natural" I groaned inwardly a bit, having long held that "natural" as a synonym for "good for you" is a vacuous slogan. I'd have been disappointed to hear it from you. But THEN, you proceeded to say almost _exactly_ what I always say about stuff "natural": "Being bitten by a rattlesnake is natural; it doesn't mean it's good for you." (I also often add, "Were you expecting it your all-natural processed-diet-food-bar to be something other than natural? Supernatural? Preternatural? What would it mean if it weren't all-natural? Was it blessed by the pope, or excreted by a demon?")

    • @shepherddog1199

I burst out laughing after reading "excreted by a demon". And it could be synthetic instead of natural, in the common sense

Although there will be a renovated Earth, if our resurrected bodies have the power of agility (unbound by time and space), wouldn't we also be able to settle on other planets?
Also, why do you get blood work done every three months if everything is fine?
I have seen the unicorn video from ten years ago, but I am still looking forward to the unicorn episodes. Also, seeing Dom squee like a little girl is priceless.
May God heap many blessings upon you guys.

Unicorns were always real, they're still in Africa. We call them rhinoceros now. They had wooly ancestors and now-extinct cousins within the lifetime of anatomically modern humans, I always assumed that accounted for most of the myths. Well, that plus an ancient game of 'telephone' as the stories get from Africa to Europe and artists depict animals they've never seen.

If a Gigantopithicus had at least an animal soul, might appearances of sasquatch-type encounters be their ghosts? I know that explaining an unexplained phenomena with another unproven theory is not sound, but ... (voice drops in wonder) just imagine!

    • @nightyew2160
      @nightyew2160 Před 27 dny

Yeah, that would be cool, but "it would be cool if it worked that way," also doesn't make sound theory. 😉

@@nightyew2160 Well, I didn't say "it would be cool", and my saying 'just imagine' at the end was itself a mockery of the theory.
