Roger's two guest segments are preceded by an Act 1 driving-home story and an Act 2 Top Ten list. After his appearance is a music trivia follow-up with a quick shot of Barbara Gaines running away.
Roger Moore was Bond through my entire childhood and most of my teenage years. He is Bond to me. I think that he best represents Bond's class and suave.
We'll never see anymore on screen great actors like Dalton, Moore, and Connery who thrilled the audience with their enormous talents, charm, wit, class and sophistication. Nowadays we see nothing but eye candy, muscular six pack abs individual who lack acting abilities but called themselves actors.
Love Roger Moore, I was in England when He passed, I'm from Laredo,Texas and grew up watching The Saint & 007,Love Him R.I.P. will mess Sir Roger Moore
Its funny watching these now bc you really get a sense of why we are where we are now..if theres ever someone to indistinctly portray that there are 2 classes of citizen its roger moore
He was my favourite Bond. People say he played it for laughs, but it was just an acknowledgement of how ridiculous the movies were. Bond, The Saint, The Persuaders. Loved them all!
I grew up with Roger Moore as Bond in the 70s and 80s. The spy who loved me,Moonraker,For your eyes only,Octopussy with the mesmerizing opening song themes, great childhood memories.Rogers Bond movies were entertaining with humor, gadgets etc he was every boys idol back then.
The thing I remember about Roger was how quick he was. We were having dinner with a friend whose girlfriend was Russian. But she then mentioned that her father was Russian admiral. Roger , without missing a beat, said “ Quite a butterfly then”. It was a few seconds before we got it....
"I was having a kidney polished". So great. It's fun when he does the Tony Curtis impression and Letterman really appreciates that (probably having interviewed Curtis before).
The Spy Who Loved Me was the first Bond movie i ever saw. It is still my Bond benchmark for romance, cool action ideas and a tutorial on how to behave in any circumstance. But those suits.... maan Roger Moore was a fashion model for freakin all kinds of suits.
Very good friends with David Niven, which is no surprise, as they were cut from the same cloth. Those qualities of being impeccably dressed, with being able to be self-deprecating and have lovely manners unfortunately don't seem to be respected so much nowadays.
He had the same problem I have........KIDNEY STONES!!! He had to stop filming on a few of his Bond Films because of sudden stone attacks. I understood his pain!!! RIP 007
The Dark Blue Blazer 2 bottons the French shirt the Silky Tie and the trouser and the black Shoe : definitely a man with a classy chic High elegance, RIP My Sir Roger Moore
He was 57 during filming of A View To A Kill his final appearance during 1984-1985 as James Bond and had turned 58 when retired from playing James Bond officially.
My aunt did! When Roger was very young. My aunt and her friend won a competition in England and part of the prize was lunch at one of the studios with him I have a photo of the three of them together with a large cheque, don't know what that was for. I was about 16 and I remember being very jealous as I was a huge fan of Roger as The Saint. Long before his fame as Bond.
Thank you so much for posting this. I remember watching it originally, I believe on 3rd June, 1992, and taping it. Glad it is around for posterity now as I lost the tape!
I remember that fare war in the summer of '92. I was working at American Airlines that year and it was Northwest (which we don't have anymore) who started the fare war when they had their "Adults fly free with one child" promo. Calls were coming in 24/7 one after the other at the reservation centers. One victim of that fare war was that Braniff Airlines III went out of business after just one year of operations.
You expect a bad ass lead actor like a James Bond to be a little more serious and guarded. Roger Moore was hardly that. Carefree, whimsical even. Generous and self effacing. Shows what a good actor he really was. I always thought Sean Connery was the best partly because he was the first. But Roger Moore made a great Bond as well. Funny and ironic. Brought a new dimension to the character. Loved seeing Moonraker at the theater as a kid. Obviously a wonderful man.
"Sean Connor"?!!! C'mon, research dept.! I think Roger, having just corrected Dave over the number of Bond films he'd appeared in, just couldn't correct him again so soon!
Always been a fan of Roger but never seen him interviewed before since I assumed he would be a little dull - but surprised to find he's actually really entertaining.
Roger was perhaps the classiest man ever.
..and a great storyteller and humanitarian
Nobody can look as good in a Safari suit as Roger Moore.
CaptainCritical the best along with Niven
You could say that again!
Yeah!
I enjoyed all he did, never boring. He was one of the stars I would have liked to meet.
I always feel a sense of calm when watching a roger moore interview. Almost like anti-anxiety medication lol.
So true!!
Why didn't you capitalize his name?🤔🙉😬🙈😫
@jamest4198 he's too relaxed.
I'll miss my childhood Bond - such a classy and funny guy.
Speedy Gonzales me too + love THE THING (remake) too!
Me too. A childhood heroe.
Without a doubt Sir Roger Moore, was a terrific James Bond. R.I.P
Simon Templar, Lord Brett Sinclair and James Bond, thank you for all the memories Sir Roger.
So much charisma from Sir Roger. And Letterman.
I wish I had 1% of Rogers charm.
Grigori Rasputin1990 Why the nasty response?
Glenn Murphie because nobody loves him in real life.

I liked Sean Connery the best...but Roger Moore was good too, and your right about the Suave that he brought to the character.
Right there with you.
@@JakeBayCity That's rare to get agreement on this. Haha. Connery was great as Bond, but I think Connery's later work was much more impressive.
The best Bond ever and Rest In Peace Sir Roger 🙏🏻
One of the deep regrets of my life is not meeting and having a chat with Sir Roger Moore. The man was pure class.
yeah---he said the same thing about you
@@MrDaiseymay lmao
Me too. Always thought I would meet him one day. No chance now.
The man oozed class. As far as I'm concerned, he was James Bond.

If I was to be a butler to any man, it would be Sir Roger Moore.
The Saint back to heaven...RIP Sir Roger and thanks for the wonderful memories!
Roger Moore, George Sanders and David Niven will always be the epitome of British class to me.
I would add Stewart Granger ( Roger’s childhood hero) to that mix too

Roger Moore was a classy guy. Love his Tony Curtis impersonation 😂😊😍👍
Episodes of The Persuaders are on CZcams. You ever watched any? Great seeing him co-star with Tony Curtis.
@RepentingMan Yes. I've seen some episodes of The Persuaders. I love Tony Curtis, too. They worked well together.. Thank you.
@@elizabethgalligan1805 It was one of my favourite shows when I was a kid. I was sad when it ended.

Good old times before the internet.
Great to see my favorite Bond here, with his great sense of humor. Goodbye Roger. Nice to see the late Hiram Bullock too. Thanks.
That was Hiram's last appearance on any of Dave's shows. I'll put together all of his guest appearances after he left the band in '84.
On one episode, he sang a cover of "Funky Broadway."
Roger Moore was the best James Bond ever. Just period.
I miss him so much, great man and actor, rest in peace.
Love him since I first saw him at 11.
I first saw him at 10:30. Got you beat.

Roger had total recall could remember every detail and share it as though it happened yesterday
Thanks for posting the video, Don. I was born the same year The Spy Who Loved Me came out. May Roger Moore rest in peace.

It's mad to think he's 65 in this video

Exactly. All that hair dye he uses doesn't make him look a day over 75!
He was 57 during filming of A View To A Kill his final appearance during 1984-1985 as James Bond and had turned 58 when retired from playing James Bond officially.
Still looks good for 65 dyed hair regardless
Nice!
