- Welcome back to more warhammer lore. In this video we get into the lore of Morathi mother of Malekith and one of the founders of the Dark Elves. You gave a good delivery regarding Morathi. Morathi is arguably the greatest/deepest character of Warhammer. A strong reason why is that she is such a paradox. An elf who is so proud and arrogant yet will commit such shameful acts to achieve her goals. An elf who can be both dominated by her emotions and be a cold, unfeeling/uncaring person. She loved Aenarion and loves Malekith, however she is willing to hurt Malekith and the elven people if she feels that it is for the best. During the time of/before Aenarion, Morathi tried to save the elves from Chaos, only to succumb when the elves refused to fight.
Morathi is an elf who may follow gods, yet (arguably) has reverence for none. Almost playing with the gods, for her benefit. Morathi is a truly great character. I would suggest reading "The Sundering" by Gav Thorpe and the "Tyrion and Teclis" books by William King, I'm sure that you'll enjoy reading them.
Morathi is a brilliant character and you did a good job. I have (rightful) bitching below that you may want to avoid....
You are (obviously) not at fault for this, but when lore changes were made for 8th edition and afterwards, it forced Warhammer (fantasy) and its lore/characters into the foulest mud. Huge lore/character changes were made so people would be more likely to accept AoS. (I would strongly suggest avoiding the 8th edition/End times lore rubbish entirely) Malekith and Morathi (and the Dark Elves as a whole) were assaulted and corrupted by these idiocies. An example would be suddenly creating a wood elf wife (Allisara) for Malekith so people would relate to him and accept that he would become Malerion in AoS, that Malekith was supposed to be in the Asuryan's flame for three seconds longer to become Phoenix King, simplifying Malekith etc. Allisara (and all of the rubbish around her) and clumsily changing the "Battle of Finuval Plain" was Mat Ward spitting in the face of William King who created the Warhammer elves. Back to Morathi, her new actions such as losing her mind, falling in love for Tyrion and saving his life, the whole matter of those stupid bloodwrack/medusa shrines. Morathi was also forced to do a more idiotic actions by idiot writers but I could no longer read the greasy material. Its a pity that these things happened.....
Morathi does have Chaos corruption in the game
It would make sense if the Dark Elves could ally the Skaven and other Forces of Chaos...

@@christiandauz3742 Not really, Malekith is still the son of his dad and hates Chaos...the Druchii overall hate Chaos as much as the Empire, since they had them in the North and have to deal with constant raids. Morathi's relationship with Slaanesh is also very different to, let's say, Sigvald. She sees Slaanesh as a means to an end.
How so? Malekith finally was accepted as the Eternity King and unified the three elven races under his banner, something not seen since the War of the Beard. Morathi just got outwitted by Chaos, somethin everybody knew would happen. Her falling in love with Aenarion obsesively and loving Makekith strenghthens her character IMO, not the opposite. The way I've always seen her is as a tragic figure because if those cunts in Ulthuan hadn't been so ungrateful, Malekith would have been the greatest Phoenix King and Morathi would have done everything in her hand to allow elvenkind enter into an everlasting Golden Era, but alas they played Ulthuan politics, she got impatient and screwed everything up.

the story of morathi is a very sad one if you read the books (it almost brought to me to tears)
in the books it is heavily implied that aenarion and morathi may have in fact loved each other.
The books imply that it was a one sided love. aenarion never loved morathi

It's even worse when you realize that she had been trying to warn and prepare her people for the Chaos invasion before the Pole Gates collapsed and she got laughed off.
Naggarythe was very much how she wanted every elven society to be because she genuinelly though that was the only way to stop Chaos since she still had visions from her former self.
She really is a tragic character.

All elves are very ambiguous about there sexuality and will often partner with who ever they feel attracted to at the time regardless of sex, but dark elves tend to be even more likely to give in to their desires than the other elves and so are much more commonly engaged in homosexual activity
I don't get why Morathi and Malekith did not turn to Chaos during the Sundering
Morathi would become a Chaos Champion, Daemon Princess and well alive after the world is eaten by Chaos
Malekith could have become the Everchosen
As Everchosen, Malekith would have become the most powerful Legendary Lord in WF
Dark Elves would have survived as the favored mortal worshippers of Chaos instead of the Northmen/Warriors of Chaos
Imagine how dangerous the Dark Elves would be if their basic units have the same armor that Chaos Warriors wear
(Chaos Armor is so tough that only the best Dwarven Armor can match it)
(Chaos Armor allows its wielder to go without food and sleep, he/she cannot get tired even in battle)
Chaos Darkshards, Bleakswords and Dreadspears would wreck their High Elf counterparts
Malekith would have become a god himself after End Times
I don't think chaos armour would suit the strengths of elves (speed over brute strength). Remember, in the tabletop, elves have a toughness of 2, they rely on evasion and attacking first.
Maybe just allowed for some of their units?
Name one other armor in Warhammer that allows its user to live without food, water or sleep?
We are talking about an armor that is cheaper than what the dwarves make BUT OFFERS THE SAME LEVEL OF PROTECTION!

Channel Suggestion to help your channel grow, instead of just narrating over still pictures for various lengths of time try adding clips of whoever/whatever you're informing your viewers about. I could see people who are wanting to learn more of the lore getting tired or uninterested not seeing them in action. I only say this because I want your channel to grow after helping me learn so much of the lore. Keep up the great work man, regardless of what I said you got yourself a fan man (: Thanks!

@@vornamenachname884 Fantasy's had become stagnant by 8th Edition, it had started going downhill since Storm of Chaos.
@@seanMmaguire1 I got myself in the lore after buying Warhammer Total War 1, after being a bit frustrated that I was missing so much content and being clearly aware, that there have to by much background lore. So basicly endtimes were already established.
I just wonder why gamesworkshop put so much effort into an already dead setting. Yes, there is also vermetide, which is kind of the link to age of sigmar. Non the less it seems strange and I'm also thinking of getting into some other fantasy settings. Lord of the rings has little new to offer and ends with the Films. Battle for middle-earth was quite fun, but the rest seems a bit... meh.
Maybe Elder Scrolls/...? Would be nice to have a good medivel/fantasy setting for future gameplay.

I plan on hitting all the major factions in the future. I am working on a Malekith video and after that will be moving on to the Skaven.
