    Liz, it's so important not to be straining your eyes. Just wear the readers. When you get up to my age (72) you'll be glad you took good care of your eyes. It's not a matter of getting dependent on them. As we grow older the need grows greater it doesn't lessen. Keep protecting your eyes. They're the only ones you have.

    Totally hear you on fabric size/magnification. I now stick to 14 and 16ct aida and light colored 28ct linens because otherwise I need magnification and I just don't want to go down that route. I have tried readers and clip-on magnifiers (I wear glasses) and it's just not something I want to deal with. I just want to sit down, stitch and relax. Enjoyed your video and am so looking forward to your framing one. I have a WIP in mind that will be my framing guinea pig. 😬

    Great video!! Boy do you look like your momma, pretty ladies. Load several needles of different colors so it is easier to grab a color and stitch a few stitches. Also try smaller lenses readers, easier to look over. Dollar Tree has some super fun framed readers for a buck 25 and at that price you could have many pairs😂

    Hi Elizabeth Ann. On the magnification topic, take a look at Mag Eyes. They have been around for ages and ages. They allow you to look down through them but you can very easily look over them for the tv. They aren’t the most attractive look, but it’s about seeing our fabric, not looking attractive, right?

  • @RedPandaHomebody
    @RedPandaHomebody Před 4 měsíci

    I’ve tried one of the magnifiers that hang around your neck and that wasn’t too bad - I couldn’t do regular magnifying readers because I do have rx glasses I ought to be wearing (problem is - my regular glasses I can’t stitch in without the magnifier, and the rx readers I can’t watch tv in) but it’s still annoying enough that I keep using my old method of just wearing neither set of glasses and accepting that it won’t be ideal for either stitching or tv, lol!

  • @dianasteiner605
    @dianasteiner605 Před 3 měsíci

    Magnification tip: I have an Ott Light magnifier that hangs around my neck for like $15 (with a coupon) at Joanns. It also has a light if you want it that is battery operated...It's easy to take with me and I only use it for smaller count fabrics. Great for on the go! And if you only occaisonally need magnification. Love your videos and tutorials!

    I buy readers that are the “half size” in the height. Forty is the normal age when our eyes change and we need magnification. The half glasses allow you to look over them with no lens there which is great for sewing and needlework. Just get them instead of the full lens type and I think you will like them so much more.

    Your love boat sampler is stunning! I guess not liking block stitching explains your love of stripey sweaters, lol. Once you hit about 40, the lens of your eye starts hardening and seeing up close gets harder. I can only stitch on linen with magnification, so I have to keep that in mind. I keep projects on easier counts/fabrics so I have some non-magnified options.

    I took a piece to Michael’s 3 weeks ago to get a quote on framing for 70% off. I went in the evening and got the store manager that didn’t have a clue. He measured the fabric not the design! He said “well, if it’s same size as one you’ve had before it’d be same price”. Duh! I brought it home and took it back when the framing manager that is awesome! I told her what happened, she wasn’t surprised. Turned out the $89 package they have was a few dollars cheaper than the 70% off. I’m hoping they call yet today or tomorrow! I started wearing glasses when I was 40, straight to bifocals. I will also be at A for Stitch Con. Haven’t decided about small exchange but right now I think doubtful.

    Hi! First off I love your flosstubes so much! You are such a talented woman and so cute and down to earth!!!! Just wanted to ask you a quick question about the “frills” spool that you used or are going to use for your seaside. Can you please share with me what size spool you need to do that? What size yours is? Thank you so much!!!! I appreciate you!!! P,s, I also watch your knitting flosstubes and I don’t even stitch!!! You are the best! Have a great day. 😊

    I went out to run an errand a while ago and my car had had a bird fly over. ERK! It wasn't bad but the season is young. I so wish I could meet you at Stitch North. I'm actually only about an eight hour drive away but alas one must pick and choose. I have a retreat later this year that will be a 17 hour drive and I'm all signed up for that. I'm in the same boat as you though about which small to stitch. Arrgghh, the choice is so difficult. Awwww, Sharon is so kind to think of all the other ladies in your family. Wait, wait, what's the punch line? 😅

    When you said you are 40, my eyes were SO WIDE. I've been watching you for a couple years and definitely thought you were 30 at most. You have lovely skin (:
