"Hello! Ma Baby" (Hello My Baby) is a Tin Pan Alley song written in 1899 by the team of Joseph E. Howard and Ida Emerson ("Howard and Emerson"). Its subject is a man who has a girlfriend he knows only through the telephone.
Its chorus is far better known than its verse, as the introductory song in the famous Warner Bros. cartoon One Froggy Evening (1955), sung by the character later dubbed Michigan J. Frog and high-stepping in the style of Bert Williams:
-- LYRICS --
Hello, hello, hello!
I've got a little baby but she's out of sight
I talk to her across the telephone
I've never seen my honey but she's mine alright
So take my tip and leave his gal alone
Every single morning you will hear me yell
"Hey Central fix me up along the line"
He connects me with my honey and I ring the bell
And this what I say to baby mine:
Hello! ma baby
Hello! ma honey
Hello! ma ragtime gal
Send me a kiss by wire
Baby, ma heart's on fire!
If you refuse me
Honey, you'll lose me
Then you'll be left alone
Oh, baby, telephone
And tell me I'm your own!
-- DID YOU KNOW? --
"Hello My Baby" was sung in the movie "Spaceballs" by an alien that emerges from a man's chest in the diner. This version by Michigan J. Frog originally aired in "Looney Tunes" several times, including in "Looney Tunes: Back in Action", when Bugs Bunny tells Kate Houghton that he plays the female co-star and dresses as a female. Michigan J. Frog, sitting at a table behind Kate and Bugs, starts singing the song.
In the "South Park" episode "Cancelled" (2003), the likeness of Saddam Hussein (briefly assumed by an alien) sings the song while dancing. - Zábava
It took me the whole song to realise it's two guys singing this
We've released many other such collabs, you'll find them all on my channel.
I'm releasing a new one today. :)
I didn't realize until reading your comment

For some reason, that "frog song" in the title makes me laugh. I mean I doubt anybody listening to this hasn't seen the cartoon at least once, but I just imagine how confused somebody who'd never seen it would be. "What? What does this have to do with frogs? Is this what frogs do in your country!?"
+Bob Woggle Yes, before I saw the cartoon I thought frogs actually did this(True Story)
Looney Tunes Rules ^^
It is what frogs do when you're not looking, did you even watch the cartoon?
I understood that reference :))
Back In Action
The last few seconds of the tenor I can relate to on a spiritual level.
Being a tenor myself, I can agree with that.😆XD
That's what y'all get for striking a match
this is so amazing. I love the sound of quartet. there is just something classy about it. when I hear you guys I feel like my life is worth few Shillings more
Try doing it on 1.25x
Even though it’s technically a dipper since it’s two people
2 bits more specifically
Put this at 1.25x speed
Its so much better
Try 1.5
Someone bless this man
Ok, x2. Help!
no
This is so beautiful I cried especially when the tenor guy held that note at the end
Jesus Sonny has the lung capacity of a bounce house
+matthew burgess Indeed.
+matthew burgess You've clearly never heard Tim Waurick sing barbershop...
PockASqueeno I'm curious now.
+matthew burgess Bouncy castle
"Check please."
The King of the Penguins all of the Spaceballs references
Oh no, not again.
beautiful ;0;
Yes ✋
I think what this song means is:
"Ok so I got a girlfriend, but she's from another school and it's complicated."
This razor sharp harmony literally makes me tear all up. It cuts right to the bone, you know? Man this is good.
Indeed. :)
PS: This song is actually an 1899 hit, it goes way back.
Awesome!
Michigan J. Frog, eat your heart out! :)
Nobel Prize right there!
And Bass & Lead are the same too.
Jeremy jahns and Mathew santoro........cool
+leroy shabkebab LOL The resemblance isn't that great, I think.
+leroy shabkebab Slightly...two balde guys and stubble...but that means so does my Grandfather...
Hahahahahahahaha!
I didn't know I needed this until now
Tfw you realize its only 2 guys *facepalm*
The audio sounds so...perfect...are the audio and video done separately, and you synced them together later?
Yes, we lip sang.
*****
I thought so. Sounds AMAZING though!
Bryan Moore, yes, seriously, they sang with their lips.
Considering that they’re only two people, they had to do at least two recordings, say one doing the left two parts and one doing the right two, for example. Then they mix them together to make the final product. Of course, if they get the timing, pitch, and everything else perfect on the first try both times, that would be truly incredible!
@@DennisKovacich a bit too late, you think?
A Cappella Trudbol sexy!
Wow, that last note was pure perfection. Brilliant!
Omfg I thought Tenor and Bari were twins and I didn't know that Lead and Bass were the same person either 😂😂
exactly the saaame here 😂😂😂
Bass, from an angle, looks like David Tennant.
Grace Kelley-Ann Larsen true so true
I feel like you’re a brony/doctor who fan and somehow made it here from hello my ditzy hello my derpy, am I right?
Bass and lead are the same person
"One Froggy Evening" was from 1955 - turns out is spans all living generations. Like Flintstones vitamins.
It's like a commercial for telephones
+Greg Koc In 1899 I am sure Bell was happy to hear this song come along.
Lol I would buy it after watching this.
Sonny acting like he is going to die holding that last tenor note makes me laugh so hard! By the way, both of you are absolutely incredible and NEVER stop singing!
Glad you're enjoying my work. Do share what you like with friends! :)
Mega props to that Tenor for holding that note! And amazing job to all of you as a whole!
Did he just throw a recently lit match on the floor? haha wow
That's what it takes to get attention man. :)
Simply Delightful!!! One of my favorite tunes of this type.. Speaking of which.. You two definitely can not only carry a tune in more than one million buckets, but could easily be heard, in neigh perfect pitch, from atop even K7.. I can hear as little as 1.5 semitones difference in pitch on any day of the week.. heh.. and was never more glad to be rid of cassettes.. can tell you that.. Thank you very much for this delightful song..
Namaste.....
THAT WAS AMAZING! It sounded utterly perfect, the harmonies could have not sounded better, the last note was beautiful, and that tenor is amazing for having the ability to hold that note so long!
@TanteA Thank you Anette, delighted you enjoyed our little show. This was a fun and ambitious project that turned out quite nicely, I'm looking forward to more! ;-)

Thank you, I appreciate it. Song suggestions are welcome! There's been a strong demand for Beatles' songs & classic old barbershop tunes lately.
Still holds up 11 years later, truly a barbershop classic
How many people do you know that can sing all four ranges and still sound so good?!? You Go Julienne!!
Palmas!!!
Isso sim é música de verdade.
SPACEBALLS
+Lorenz Starke eh, looney tunes did it first.
+MrKlausbaudelaire eh, Spaceballs did it better. You can't beat an alien with a boater hat.
Joey Lock
how about a frog with a tophat and cane singing to one guy, but everytime he tries to show it to other people, it behaves like a normal frog xD
Check plase
Thanks to the two of you and a certain dancing frog, I have had this song stuck in my head for about a week.
Love this HARMONY!
*chestburster appears*
Check please!
Oh No, not again!
My friends and I actually did this with some slight changes at our high school, but I've always loved listening to your barbershop renditions of songs. Could you post these to a place like spotify, or something, for people to listen to in a playlist?
perfect timing, great vocals, and awesome show!!!!!! hats off to you both for your performances
@FreewayLots Thanks for the kind words, delighted you enjoy these barbershop videos. Feel free to share a few with friends, and spread some good humor around. ;-)
Thanks! Share this video if you liked it! It's Barbershop Day! ;)
PS: Plenty more barbershop on my channel.
Doesn't SgtSonny look just like Matthew Santoro?!
YASSSSSS
Gumball Watterson Exactly, so I am not the only one? LOL
+SomeGoomba533 ikr. :P
He does!!! I hadn't noticed until you pointed that out.
Different facial structure, but yea
Simply amazing... The Intro was just perfect... Speechless...
One of your best, and my favorite of your collaborations to date. I love the way you two harmonize, and the fun you both appear to be having! I've already shown it to 3 people, and it's made our day. Thanks for sharing this with us, and please, please, do more!
Listen at 1.5 for proper Michigan J. Frog speed.
Any chance i could use this audio in a video? I'm not sure what your policy is, if i buy and credit is that enough?
Thanks for asking, I appreciate it. Yes, that'll work for me. :)
Absolute banger, it’s always in my head
I listened to this on repeat for a good 3 hours straight. still can't get enough!
Do the halo theme
"Oh no, not again!"
the acapella is done very well, and the humor inside the video's make it complete 9/10!
I must say you gents did an amazing job with this song.
This song sounds like a telephone advert
+Greg Koc I'm sure that back at the time of horse-drawn buggies and the Titanic this song was welcomed with open arms by Bell. Not even 10% of the country had telephones in 1900.
Dallas K but see, after this commercial, everyone bought one! :D
Don't kill the tenor!!! :o
Brilliant as always!
Thank you for covering this song. You do it very well.
Hey Ninjago fans, this is Zane's funny switch!

They should do sha boom life could be a dream
What an incredible way to start my day. Thanks again Julien.
This guys are amazing... Oh my gosh... What a breath
weird that tenor wasn't the highest note on the final chord
+Jpeazify That'd be pretty awful for Sonny, don't you think?
Jp: Good catch! That was a baritone post!

Mitchell Lundrigan Yes.
That was amazing!
Hey julien I just wanted to say that this was amazing and I hope with that perfect voice of yours u go places 😊
+A Cappella Trudbol (Julien Neel) I'm a new fan of yours and have really been enjoying your videos. I'm a writer. I just blogged a story excerpt from a mystery comedy short story or novella I hope to release around Valentine's Day. My two main characters, Jack Donegal and Andy Westin, are in the toy business together, amateur sleuths, best friends and roommates. In this story segment, Jack has invited his barbershop quartet buddies over. They bug Andy (the roommate and narrator) by following him around and coming up with songs for every mundane occasion. My blog links to this video and one of your other videos. www.goodreads.com/author_blog_posts/9450790-story-excerpt----barbershop-on-espresso-double-shots-or-life-is-not-a
And another goes in the favorites! Never ceases to impress! Great job, guys, keep it up!
I can't express how much I enjoyed this.

Sheer delight -- immediately resurrected my first experience with this song, sung by the frog whom you mentioned, and refreshed me with an aching joy for times past and memories cherished. You've freely offered an incredible gift of bittersweet nostalgia and completely delicious immersion in your intricately-woven web of harmony. Thank you!
I love this so much
That was GREAT! Looking forward to hearing the rest.
I never imagined there would an A Cappella of this song but this shows that anything is possible
Love listening to your singing! It's so beautiful!

Utterley stupendous.
