- The North Hollywood shootout was a confrontation between two heavily armed and armored bank robbers, Larry Phillips Jr. and Emil Mătăsăreanu, and police officers in the North Hollywood district of Los Angeles on February 28, 1997. Both robbers perished, twelve police officers and eight civilians were injured, and numerous vehicles and other property were damaged or destroyed by the nearly 2,000 rounds of ammunition fired by the robbers and police. At 9:16 a.m., Phillips and Mătăsăreanu entered and robbed Bank of America's North branch. The robbers were confronted by Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers when they exited the bank and a shootout between the officers and robbers ensued. The robbers attempted to flee the scene, Phillips on foot and Mătăsăreanu in their getaway vehicle, while continuing to exchange fire with the officers. The battle continued onto a residential street adjacent to the bank until Phillips, mortally wounded, fell; Mătăsăreanu was incapacitated by officers three blocks away and bled-out before the arrival of paramedics more than an hour later.

That'd be an awesome game, I was thinking of using one of the balaclava masks and the AK 762 rifle with iron man, and the ammo perks on harvest & trustee to kinda try to recreate this.

My dad told me about this. He said the cops had to go to a gun store to get more ammo because the suspects armor was just no-selling everything up to the point they ran out.
They had to "commandeer" some mini-14s as well. This is why cops all have ar-15s in their cruisers now instead of shotguns.

@@joecamel4006 Some police still carry shotguns, or at least in the trunk. Or at least around the area I live in, I saw some having to report to a possible shootout near where I was, and some grabbed shotguns out of their trunks, but they could have gotten that before they went out.

@@jayzgaming3952 I believe their shotguns are more commonly used for beanbags/less lethal nowadays instead of buckshot rounds (although I'm sure they always have lethal ammunition available if they need it).
This happened like ten miles from where I grew up. Insane. It changed the LAPD and American policing at large forever.
Literally the biggest reason departments started getting rifle rated armor and patrol rifles.

Oh man. The Payday 2 80s music? Hells yeah.
To think, the two men were practically unstoppable and if I remember somewhere even one of the officers said "They have automatic weapons. There is nothing we can do to stop them" since the officers were primarily armed with .38 Special, .357 and 9mm with some 12 or 8 gauge shotguns. Imagine being an officer, your guns barely effective against two robbers who haven't been stopped - armed with automatic rifles you lack peppering at you, must've be a frightening experience.
I recently watched a documentary about this. One of the officers who was on scene claimed he shot one of the suspects in the back with his 12 gauge shotgun from 20 yards away (if I'm remembering that distance correctly) and the robber just turned around and aimed his rifle at him. Absolutely terrifying.
According to another comment at another video. One of the responders were actually having their first ever day on duty.
Imagine being a fresh grad outta police school and you gotta subdue two juggernauts spraying rounds down a highway.

Yes, Larry was mortally wounded but he ultimatly died because he took his own life with his M9. He knew it was hopeless but we didn´t want to go to jail.
Heli footage was insane, around 1100 shots were fired by the robbers, yet only wounded 20 people, 12 of them officers.
Makes me happy I’m in a world where History Feels, Major Sam, and War Aesthetics exist.
Its crazy how you can follow the events of the whole shootout from them getting into the bank to getting caught hiding behind the vehicle

When people ask why cops are more armed nowadays, I tell them about this event
I got no clue how police stuff works, but I oughta assume there’s some kind of gauge that tells police what kind of equipment to bring, right? For stuff like this, I totally understand bringing lethal force, but I just don’t understand why they can use stuff like gas at riots is all. There should just be a general idea that police shouldn’t be able to bring god damn WMD’s when whatever suspect has a pistol and nothing else.
I dunno, I’m really not an expert of anything, and I’m especially no authority on weapons. I just think there oughta be *something* that prevents police from using gas and such

@Clarkamadorian idk too but for the gas, it's usually just tear gas which is just pepper spray deployed in a smoke grenade format. It's non-lethal which is probably the legal definition that allows cops to use it during riots which is better than firing rubber bullets or just plain using their batons

The same page also stated that the short and long term effect of Tear gas hasn't been researched properly and what Research does exist seems to all be low in quality and doesn't establish a proper conclusion
The 2016 Dallas Police shootout with Drakes “Hotline Bling” from an officer’s perspective would be wild. If you never heard of the event, it’s the only time police used C4 on a barricaded shooter. Ironically using and EOD bot to do so

The brazilian expeditionary force had around 25.900 men, and they lost less than a thousand in the war, the germans saw them as ruthless forces that would never stop, and rumour says that they stole an american tank once.
The Smoking snakes were involved in some battles, the biggest ones being Monte Castello and Collecchio-Fornovo.

crazy how i can recognize where some of these sounds clips are from. i think quite a few are actually from Need For Speed Most Wanted 2005 and a lot of them are obviously gonna be from Payday 2. also heard the warzone armor break sound somewhere there. hell the sound of the automatic rifle is probably from Payday 2 as well.
