    I love the audience immediately starts acting like a TV bowling crowd when Dave is taking his shots

    This whole episode is classic. Dave comes out at the top, bouncing on his feet, in quite a good mood. Great monologue and this bit had just the right energy leading into it. "If Tomorrow Never Comes" is stellar, with Barry Manilow being backed by his old band. And if I recall correctly, Sarah Jessica Parker brought her dog on, who trembled terribly out of the fright of all the people in the studio, which Dave found adorable.

      @dongiller  Před rokem +2

      That wasn’t Manilow’s old band. Just Will and Sid, who both backed Barry on different tours, Will before Sid. They never played together on them.
      Will, though, was responsible for Sid getting the gig for Barry’s second tour.

    Fairly smooth editing between the main studio and the pre-recorded bits. 1993 and of course Dave really couldn't care less about Late Night anymore, he was gone to CBS come June 1993, so he could do this type of bit.

    What a great non-sequitur ending! My comics preferred polyethylene bags though and were very disappointed.

    This reminds me of the bit they did a few months into the run of Late Show where Paul is missing, and Dave runs to 30 Rock and finds Paul on their old Late Night set. Obviously they must have planned ahead and recorded that bit in 6A before leaving NBC. I always wondered if maybe they originally intended to air it earlier in the CBS run, but decided to delay it because of NBC's intellectual property threats.

      August 9, 1994. Dave actually just called Paul from his Sullivan desk. Yeah, definitely taped the year before. I'll try to date it, based on Paul's shirt.

    • @stevencoleman1386

      Yes, Dave gave me the top ten list which I still have today and I think we got on camera a few times based upon the in studio footage. I still have my LNWDL sweatshirt that I bought that day. I was 18 and in attendance with my best friend, Scott, who died unexpectedly. I am happy to share the whole story with you if you want to hear it. I set the VCR to record but my mother messed with the VCR so, it didn't record. I have never been able to watch the show and have been searching for it for 25 years.

    I guess they must have filmed this at around 4 or 5 in the morning, based on how the morning light is starting to show as they start running back towards the studio.

    • @dongiller
      @dongiller  Před 6 lety +4

      Not with the pedestrian crowd. More likely taped out of sequence -- the bowling alley exit taped before entering it.
