A little about me and this channel:
My name is James Aubrey IV and I just recently graduated college from Iowa State University. After college I decided to take a leap of faith. So I moved to San Diego California to pursue my passion for videography/ CZcams. Overall I'm a pretty chill person, outside of CZcams I like to longboard, dance, play video games, lift weights and hangout with my friends. I know that success on CZcams won't happen overnight but I'm willing to stay patient and put in the work to try to prefect my craft daily. This CZcams channel will be centered around my life after college. You will be able to see all of the ups and downs on my journey to success. So if you like the content make sure you subscribe so you can be apart of the Rome Life Family. (Let's build our own personal Rome's together.)
What is the Rome Life ? And What does it mean to be apart of it?
Rome Life is something I started during my Sophomore year of high school (one of the worst times in my life) it started off as me documenting my journey to recovery from my shoulder surgery but eventually it turned into a platform that I could use to encourage myself as well as others to chase our dreams.
Rome Life isn't just a saying it's a way of life and for the people who want to be apart of it have to realize that. Rome wasn't built in a day it took a lot of handwork time and most importantly patience. So you can't expect your dreams to be any different
This is a reaction video used to educated and give my feedback on the song and artist

This was THE party song.
You can't listen to it and not want to get up and dance.
It was😁
Still is my party song lol 👌👌
If this doesn't play at least once at the cookout, y'all ain't doing it right! Lol
Was? Lol it still is!!
This ain't just a song for the club, it's also for picnics & family reunions!! This was the jam when it first came out!! I love my era of music! ❤
The full version of this song is about 11 minutes long. It is at the end of Marvin's Live at the London Palladium album. 1977.
One of the GREAT albums of the decade!
Marvin Gayes children took Robin Thick & Pharell to court for blurred line's
Good for them
And they won.
I should bloody well think so too, plagiarisers . And I hope Beyonce paid the Chi-lites handsomely for Crazy In Love
@Frankie Gomez Not a direct copy are you tripping? I thought it was the same song. It’s called PLAGIARISM
@@tasha7726 they sued for 8 million Marvin's sister allegedly contributed to the copycat song and got mad when she didn't get any of the proceeds.
They play Marvin Gaye in Target? dang I gotta get out of the house more
😂I was thinking the same thing.
The Harbor Freight near where I live plays the BEST 80s music. I dance the whole time I'm in there while my man is looking at tools lol. Idc who sees me either. I'd die if someone stopped and busted a move with me.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. My boyfriend plays it on our jukebox all the time. Thats my signal to go down to the man cave and bust a quick move with him lol. We're dancin' fools I swear.
The first time I heard "Blurred Lines" I knew they had sampled this hook. Great song.
Wow, you just put that together for me....I knew the hook was familiar, but couldn't remember from where... Thank you!
They didn't sample it they straight out stole it. It took Marvins estate a lawsuit for them to admit it.
Yes. A Thicke Theft to be sure.
First time I heard it I thought it was he same song
@@jaygilllan7574 Go listen to the Chi-lites, Are You My Woman. If Beyoncé didn’t pay each and everyone of them handsomely there is no justice in this world
I recommend "Let's Get It On" for your next Marvin Gaye song.
Your happy dancing makes my day. Love this song and love your joyousness.
I remember they would play this as the last record of the night at the nightclub. Everyone was tired from drinking and dancing all night. Folks would get up and dance just to see if they could do it and the DJ would play the Extended Version! Looking back, he probably did it on purpose.
The real old-school of partying music by Marvin Gaye the one and only #1.

Wanna groove? React to Curtis Mayfield - Move on up
I can imagine EMT's treating a patient whose heart stopped beating. When their paddles break and they can't shock him, one of them puts on this jam, waits 60 seconds and shouts "We got a pulse!"
You picked THE JAM!! Couldn't wait to get on the dance floor when this played. I'd dance by myself if I had to...whatever! Good job
I want to see your reaction to Fire by the Ohio Players...man my landlord had to leave the building when we fired that up on some homemade JBL's...🔥
I really appreciate the way you let the song play. We couldn’t pause the radio back in the day and didn’t wanna miss anything or stop the feeling anyway! Keep Gettin yo groove on!!
marvin gaye is a drummer as well as a fantastic singer thats why a lot of his songs have such a good feel to them
All I have to say to this is Yes, Yes, Yes. I love Marvin Gaye so much. I cried the day I heard he was killed... such a loss of such a smooth voice, musical talent and beautiful soul. Maybe sometime check out "Night Train" song done in his memory by his former band.
His Father sadly killed him over some stupid argument. What a tragedy; the entire world cried when he was taken from us. Good news is heaven gained a special angel.
You could play this all night on repeat at a party and nobody would complain. Different grooves but absolutely awesome songs to look at by him, "Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)", "Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)".
We still do our family's soul train line to this song! It never gets old! All of our family breaks into dance when this song plays, no matter where we're at, even if it's Target! 😂😂
Every time they played this at the disco, you could barely find any room on the dance floor. Marvin just rules.
I said it before. In the 70s we white teens rushed home on Saturday night to see that Midnight Special, but the next day we hopped on that Soul Train. If you don't like Marvin Gaye, you -- are deaf. LOL.
Growing up all my friends older brothers and sisters who were hard core 60’s rockers loved Marvin Gaye, that’s how I first tuned in. He is one of the best from those eras.
All Marvin Gaye songs remind me of Moms. Regardless which Gaye song it is I hear. I immediately see and hear my Moms singing Diana Ross’ part of Diana and Marvins song My Mistake, while she was cleaning the house every Saturday morning.
Unfortunately, when my kids hear Marvin, they think of Target.
Got to react to Marvine Gaye
"Distant Lover" & "I Want You"
Love how you get into the songs😁Just know we're all dancing with you!
I cannot believe that you haven’t heard this song. It’s iconic. I am so glad that you got a chance to experience this wonderful song.
Try inner city blues shows nothing has changed
I was sitting waiting to see how long it took for you to start snapping your fingers, record time!! Haha, great song. Marvin was amazing
Sad to what happened to the dude. 😥A true Motown legend. R.I.P. The song "What's going on" is still relevant as of today with all the hatred that's circulating in society.
I saw this with Target Song moniker and almost fell over laughing. Lol Definitely a party jam that we used to dance around to. I loved anything Marvin Gaye did... he was always hot.
Why can't we all be as cool as Marvin?
That’s a house party jam right there come on through Marvin Gaye you need to check out-- Distant Lover, Let’s Get It On....
Only just realised after all these years, the end part is very Prince-like! 😀
Great great song. It’s my favourite from him!
One of the great things about that song is that Marvin was pressured by Motown to do a disco song. He kept saying "no no no" than he relented and did this but like most things Marvin he put his own spin on it with the song being personal to himself AND taking the conception of disco and flipping it on its ear. It's pretty disco like in the 1st half but as the song goes on it starts to sound more jazzier than anything anything else.
I also just loved the improvisation on this tune. Parts of the musical sound came from holding bottles of water/other drinks at different angles and hitting them with a spoon or stick.
I've loved this song since it first came out when I was in junior high. So fun to dance to.
I also remember the day Marvin was killed. I used to listen Casey Kasem's American Top 40 every Sundau. They had breaking news about Marvin's death, shot by his own father. I couldn't believe what I was hearing on the radio. Shockingly sad.
This song was during the disco era. Check this song out on Soul Train video. I loved your reaction and Marvin's was definitely ahead of times and will always be timeless. I love ❤ and miss me some Marvin because of his incredible music you'll never be forgotten. Thank you for leaving your legacy with us.😊❤
In my 60s and I have to say the kids of the 60s and 70s were more cultural diverse in music than today....it didn't matter what race you are ....just get up and dance just for the purest of reasons...enjoyment of the sound....the beat.....fun....my heart missing this
Also mercy mercy me
I was about 17 years old when I first heard Got To Give It Up back in the 1970s this was awesome.listening to this song now on my awesome MPOW Bluetooth professional headphones to hear every beat every hidden sound comes out.I so hated to hear the sad story of Marvin Gaye's death of his father shooting him Marvin Gaye only live to be 44 years old but he was a legend.he died from his father Marvin Sr.being shot two times with the 38 Special in the heart died April 1st 1984 .
"Right On" "Groovin" "Cool" "Out of Sight" "Boss"
Man, you are correct! I've never knew the name or who sang this song until yesterday after watching
"barbershop"
I remember hearing this song on the radio, when I was a little kid, but I had forgotten all about it. Thanks!
I clicked so fast because I just know you are going to enjoy this JAM!
I was in Target today as well and it was played. MUST be on their playlist.
No matter where I am, this song comes on, I can't help but dance
Cool man. So cool. Play "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green; "Endless Love" by Luther Vandross and "Lady" by Lionel Richie and "Missing You". I'm sure that you will enjoy them cause you got class. Thank you Soul Brother. Have a good evening. God bless you. Adios.
Told the Wifey that I want this song at my funeral party.
This song is the greatest "feel good" "boogie" song ever. My favorite overall song next to House of the rising sun.
And yes I did mention this one for you to check out BTW. Guess it went missed 😉
Conversations stop for me when this song comes on. Instantly in my own dancing world. Real talk
This was the Summer Song of 1977. He did the "Full Version" on Soul Train and it was his Last Pop #1. By 1979 he left Motown, Broke and addicted to Drugs. In 1982 he signed with Columbia who bought out his Contract with Motown and came back with Sexual Healing. He got his first and Only Grammy for Best R & B Performance in 1983. In April he tapes Motown 25 and it's Broadcasted in May and on April Fool's Day 1984 he is shot by his own Father. Smokey Robinson thought it was a joke. The Song has stood the test of time since it was featured in Movies like Boogie Nights. Also as you know Robin Thicke got sued for using the Melody for "Blurred Lines".
The man of all time ⏲ 🙌 love him. ❤.
This is one of those songs that even if ya can't dance you can dance to this
This song is a super masterpiece. The summer song of 1977.
Marvin Gaye!! 🎶🎤 made great music!!
Mr. Smooth❤️
Parliament ~ P-Funk (wants to get funked up)
There won't be any songs from Marvin that are bad. Love this song!
Ooooohhhh wow! I also just heard this same song at Target this last weekend a year after you did! And yes I couldn’t help but subtly shuffle through the store 😎. I really enjoyed it “back when” (LOL), then tonight heard it again in the background of a tv show so I just HAD to look it up. So enjoyed your joyous reaction!😊
Dancing with you! LOL! : - )
Another GREAT!!!
This song is played in the movie “This Christmas.” I did not know it was Marvin Gay singing.
The floor always got crowded when that joint played...groovy piece. Most moved to the bass line since the song was so long...lol
So "Blurred Lines" was "inspired" in this. Nice song.
So “ inspired” is a lawyer’s way of saying “stolen”
The thing that was too stupid of RT and Ph is they had the nerve to deny they had. That's when I lost all respect for both of them.
That’s my ALL TIME FAVORITE MARVIN GAYE SONG!!! Like you said every time I hear it makes me happy and want to dance 💃🏽...you’ve never seen Barbershop... it’s in one of the scenes...❌⭕️❌⭕️
the Target Song! lmao love it
One of my all time favorite songs...def top five...
Invisible mans band.... all night thing party danc song
Oh so sad that you didn't grab the "live" Soul Train version. You gotta check out this cool dude jumping off the stage to dance with the ladies😍😍 grab parts 1 and 2 please. ✌
You chose a great song, thanks, love
My graduation party song, it was the jam.
I LOVE IT1 I LOVE IT1 I love that you FEEL the music! I love your honesty!
Now this is MUSIC
Well this got me dancing on a Sunday morning with coffee in hand- thank you!
Anytime I hear this, I stop what I’m doing and dance…..
party song at IUP in the summer of 1977... at the off campus spot the white house..
Great song. It is on the soundtrack of Practical Magic.
I remember buying his catalog or at least a vast portion of it on a double cd of this back in the 90's..
it was such a great category of songs. I listened to that for years and years, and still have it but now it sits with all other cd/albums in the front room untouched for nearly 20yrs. I still listen but I have them digitally. Thanks for the memories!!
Beyond that I grew up with this in my dads garage..cheers Mate!
Come get to this is another great song by Marvin Gaye also.
Next should be (Let's groove) by earth wind and fire
Big Party Jam right there.
Maybe me an old cat, but I sure remember when you had to live in outer Iceland to say you never heard this.
If you want to get the party started play this first
Before his time .....this was a real floor filler back in the day 😂😂🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
You gonna play this at one of those get-the-family-together big outdoor parties, yes?
PLEASE "Distant Lover" live audio from Oakland KILLER!!!
This and What's Going On are imo his 2 best, both classics. Great react!
This was the song your parents played at their house party and you heard it blaring from your room.
Listen to some Marvin duets with the likes of Tammy Tyrell and Diana Ross
React to 'Come Get to This' by Marvin! Thanks!!!
This one is so awesome, it’s like a religious experience. I grew up in Philly in the 70s. This was always on the radio.
All Skate! Allllll Skate!!!!!
JUST TO KEEP YOU SATISFIED-MARVIN GAYE
I like how he has the party sound going on all through a lot of his songs - people talking and such. Not many artists would have done that!
Get it james
..get it....
Plenty of COWBELL. 💓💓
That's what I would have named the song... "Plenty of Cowbell"
Love his voice. Good looking man. Sad ending to his life. Happy to hear his music anytime. Good job.
Gotta react to Marvin Gaye - Trouble Man
this song is so dope...never get tired of it
The bee gees had wrote the song. ( Island in the stream). For Marvin. But wind up giving it to Kenny and dolly. Was going to write another one but he was killed. The same way the bee gees wrote) ( to loive somebody ). For Otis Redding and he died before he could sing it.. so bee gees did it one of their biggest hits.,. ,💞💞💞
React to Bob Marley feat Lauryn Hill Turn Your Lights Down Low
Yes, he needs to hear some Bob for sure.
Always loved this song! And that bass... Would love to hear more Marvin Gaye. Also, please check into Tower of Power, songs: You're Still A Young Man and Sparkling In The Sand.
I don't for one second believe that he had never heard this. Must have been no music in his house or lived under a rock.
Please react to MARVIN GAYES song MY LOVE IS WAITING ..you will love this. 😍😍😍
RIP Auntie
