When you are looking for something specific it makes really hard to see other things. This is why Pickpocketing works, because its all about a diversion, so your brain is focused on the other thing, while they take your stuff.

when you are a diguised npc, walk in lines for 3 seconds, then stop for 4 seconds and look around, then walk in lines again for 3 seconds, trust me it'll work.
