When japaneses create stories different to the average shonen, seinen or romcom they do beautiful things like this. Thanks to those mangakas that still don't just want money but let their imagination fly.
A lot of the times it's usually the publisher or editor who has to steer the mangakas into following trends, that's pretty much why there are a lot of baffling changes, but yes can't deny that some mangakas really do just follow trends on their own or make strange decisions to the end of their series i.e. domestic na kanojo

I thought it lasted a bit longer in the manga unless multiple chapters had been released at once recently since last I checked Grandma and Granpa as they were trying to fall back in love was checking a shrine and I think the daughter noticed that grandma had black hair and that's I think where the manga left off . If its following the original source material then maybe it is much further a long in the story or already ended. Then it will make sense since I think usually a manga of the LN /WN can take a little longer to catch up.
