In 1970, Afghanistan’s centuries-old Sikh population numbered 100,000. But by 2021, that figure had plummeted to around 240. Thousands have fled over the past five decades due to years of civil war, discrimination, poverty and general political instability. The vast majority of Sikhs fleeing Afghanistan have moved to India, primarily the northwestern region of Punjab. After the recent Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, India’s government offered exiled Sikhs priority visas and the chance to apply for long-term residency. But some Sikhs rejected the offer, choosing instead to remain. But those who’ve stayed must balance an affection for their long-term home with security concerns which leave many torn over whether to stay or go.

There are not even traces of Afgani Buddhists and Hindus, who were majority at a time , may these Sikhs be safe on their grounds
I dont think it will be as bad as 90s taliban. Back then non muslims had to put a yellow flag infront of their homes and non muslim women wear yellow to let everybody know to keep their distance. The rule that will probably remain is that no new non muslim holy sites to be allowed.
As long as nobody going to address the issue of subjugation of non believers in their book , this will go on and on . As long as those in charge believe in that book answer to nobody , this kind of thing are the end product . Look around you , any this religion majority places has a growing non believers community ? Just look around even small country like Brunei doesn't allow non believers to built new places of worship.
Yes Buddhism was the main religion but not Hinduism . Some small Hindu communities lived in preIslamic Afghanistan. Zoroastrianism was the dominant religion but After invasion of southern part of Afghanistan by Mauriyan King Ashoka .The Mauriyans started spreading of new relegion Buddhism. So Afghanistan never had Hindus as majority population .

The think which hurts is more that our sikh leadership like SGPC were doing chutiyapa and were opposing this bill and were giving Langer's during Shaheen Bagh protest. I think soon as possible government should introduce this bill in parliament.

Most of these Afghan Sikhs are the descendant of Sikh Misl that migrated to some parts in Afghanistan and most of their ancestor arrived in Afghanistan during the time of Sikh Empire rule in Afghanistan. Most of them were the descendants of Sikh Sandhuwalia Jats originating from Punjab region in modern day Pakistan and India. So, going back to Indian Punjab is the best choice for them as it was their ancestral land. They even don't belong to the main tribes in Afghanistan. While, migrating to US or Canada is more economically-backed migration rather than identity migration
You might be right, because sikh empire had its boundaries near kabul, but Sikhism was practiced in Afghanistan long before that. In Gurus Era there were many afghan sikhs. Guru Nanak dev ji went through there. Many historical gurudwaras are also situated there, Bhai nand laal jis . Guru Har rai sahib jis(one mentioned in video) are all from gurus time
Sikhs have been living in Afghanistan since 1500s way before Sikh Empire existed.

Most of them can trace their ancestor back in today Pakistan and India, before that Punjab, the birthplace of Sikh was one, but after the Indian partition, they split into two country just because of religion
