What is the difference between the son of God and the son of man? Some say the son of God speaks of his deity, which it does, and that son of man speaks of his humanity. And Jesus was 100% man and 100% God. And the word son of man literally means a human. Ah, human male is what it means. But when Jesus referred to the son of man, there is a Jewish setting. There is a scriptural old Testament context to the son of man that actually makes it speak of his deity. Why did Jesus speak of himself as the son of man today on hot topics and the answer might surprise you?
Hi. This is Robert Furrow, and this is hot topics. If you're new here, consider subscribing and ringing the bell so you can get all of our new videos. The comments section is open below. We would love to hear from you. Son of man is used rarely in the Old Testament, but it is used and it's used most often when it speaks of Ezekiel.
Ezekiel often is called the Son of man. A few of the other profits are called that rarely, but Ezekiel often and some believe, that there is a comparison between Ezekiel and the Messiah. But certainly, this is a favorite reference that Jesus made about himself. Let me give you an example, Matthew, 6 13, says. When Jesus came to the region of Sensory of Phillippi, he asked his disciples, Who do people say the son of man is from there? They said, Well, some say you're John the Baptist. Some say you're Elijah. Some say you're Jeremiah and Jesus said, Who do you say that I am? And Peter spoke up and he said, You are the Christ, which is to be messiah. You are the Christ the son of the living God. And here we have all three of these references together. Jesus, calling himself the son of man Peter, calling him the Messiah and the son of God. And Jesus says to Peter, Flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, Peter. But my father, who is in heaven so Jesus there affirms that he is the Messiah, and he is the son of God, but also makes a reference to him being the son of man. Now let's go to the end of Jesus's ministry, and he's brought before the San Hedren. He stands before the high priest Caiaphas. They had looked for witnesses against Jesus, but they could find none that agree. And this was really important because by two or three witnesses someone was condemned and they had to be able to bring these charges to pilot because they didn't have the power to execute someone Onley Rome dead.
And so, being frustrated that they couldn't find any witnesses, he turns to Jesus and says, In Mark 14, 61 62 again, the high priest asked him, saying to him, Are you the Christ? The son of the Blessed?
Jesus said, I am. And this is another example of him affirming that he is the Messiah. And he is the son of God, or the son of the Blessed, as Caiaphas calls him. But then he goes on to say, and you will see the son of man sitting at the right hand of power and coming in the clouds of heaven. This is another example of Jesus referring to himself as the son of man. But here he puts it in the Jewish context and the text goes on to tell us that Caiaphas tears his clothes and screams out. What further need do we have of witnesses? This man has committed blasphemy, and they all agree with him. Then he said, we have no need of witnesses tor his clothes and condemned him of blasphemy. Why did they get so upset? We'll find that out. You've got to go back to the context. You go back to Daniel, Chapter seven, which is such an interesting passage because it shows someone who is God, who is distinct from God. And in Daniel, Chapter seven, he's talking about these four beasts that come out of the Black Sea, and they all represent powers that are in control upon the Earth. But in the middle of it, he sees a vision of the ultimate power. It says. In Daniel 79 and 10,

    Kindly clarify my question, pastor🙏
    In Ezekial 2:8-10 & 3:1-5 and Revelation 10: 8-11
    Seems to be similar.
Ezekial ate the scroll in OT, and John ate the scroll in NT.
The sealed book was opened and given it to both of them.
Both had to testify about the revealed/open word that they had received.
It seems like Ezekial didn't testify, but Jesus fulfilled the prophecy in the OT.
Which means did Ezekial ate or Jesus ate the scroll 📜? HAS JESUS BEEN MENTIONED AS A SON OF MAN in Ezekial 3?
As per Hosea 12:10, God uses prophets' names as a similitudes. Which means was Messiah represented as an Ezekial in this context?
Hope my question makes sense 😊
Also, Ezekial 2 has the S upper case. There are upper cases and lower cases.
Do the upper cases (Son of man) represent Jesus or messiah in the OT, and the smaller cases (son of man) represent Ezekial?
    Why is there a difference?
    Thank you 😊

      Praise the Lord, pastor 🙏
I found my answer. It's not a coincidence, but the Holy Spirit made me watch this video at the right time.
The Chairman of Zion Christian Mission Center South Korea has mentioned that Jesus has eaten the scroll in Ezekial.
He is our new promised shepherd John as per Revelation 10:8-11.
      Thank you 😊

I struggle to see where people gets this, as I still do not understand why people believe Jesus calls himself the son of man?
These three examples given here, I do not read where Jesus says he is the son of man?
I am paraphrasing, it is not word for word, I am not quoting. I don't have my Bible right at hand.
1st example: Mathew 6:13 Jesus didn't claim to be the son of man. He ask the disciples, "Who do people say that I am?"
proceeds to tell him who they believed he was, but Jesus says: Who do you say that I am?" Peter spoke up and said, You are the Christ, the Messiah, the son of the living God.
Because you could not be born again as Jesus had not yet been crucified, they had to believe upon God and follow him for their salvation. I believe that's why Jesus told Peter that man did not revealed that understanding to him, that only God the Father could that. But I don't read where Jesus claimed to be the son of man?
    Example 2: Mark 14:61-62
High priest ask if he was the Christ, the son of the BLESSED, the Messiah. Jesus affirms he is the son of the blessed(virgin Mary) but not a son of man?
    Example 3:Daniel 17:8-10
After his vision in Daniel 13-14 Behold I see one "LIKE" the son of man in the clouds of heaven.
Even if it was stated THE son of man and not LIKE the son of man, it still was not Jesus saying that he is the son of man?
I do hope someone can explain it to me. Thank You
Make God Almighty bless you all

Thanks Tonya, Jesus refers to himself most often as the son of man let me give you and example.“saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.””
      ‭‭Luke‬ ‭9:22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
He does this often, the reason he uses the term "son of man" is in this video thanks.

I am not try to be negative here, nor be argumentative (I don't belive in arguing about Gods Word)I am only explaining it the way I read and understand it. If you disagree, can you kindly explain why?
The bible doesn't say Jesus took 100% man. It says he took "part" man.
He will not be GIVEN the Kingdoms when he comes, he will TAKE them by FORCE. They are his, they belong to him. No man will freely just give up the Kingdoms of this earth, but they will be forced to by Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Take away the Christ is God lie and it makes sense.
The Son of man is a man of the seed of David, the Davidic Messiah King.
      His Father is God.
