what would be awesome is if you could route the sound to each ipad wirelessly so you could actually have virtual aux sends to each ipad and each musician could just use the headphone jack on their ipad as in ear monitors.
The band members can sort out their individual monitor mix during rehearsal, or during the performance using the iPad removed from the dock or additional iPads. The DL1608 is a live performance mixer that does include recording of the main outputs into a stereo track, but does not include multitrack recording. We agree with you Chris, it's still awesome!
In other videos about the unit, when you have the IPad docked, it charges, allows playback from the IPad through dedicated channel #17, and allows main mix recording direct to the IPad.
Mackie will be building in password control over the FOH mix and each aux mix so a user can be authorized to control only a specific on stage mix or all mixes.
Save the docking station. Nobody is gonna use it. I don't have a docking station for my iPad placed on my printer either. If you can remote control the mixer, there is really no need to run the cables back and fourth from the stage to the engineer booth. You'd just leave the mixer and the power amp right on the stage with the speakers. And in a studio it's much more practical to keep the mixer in a rack and then control the mixer from a table with just the speakers on the table.
@JSprayaEntertainment this isn't anything more than your regular board. Feedback i presume could easily be handled with an analog graphic EQ. This is just the board part of your rack. You'd still need amps and such. But, this is a digital board with six outputs. Separate aux controls and compression. It was a grand on guitarcenters website...so that's pretty amazing. Any way you look at it.
To make this really user friendly you should to be able to record all the individual tracks separately and playback so band members can sort out their monitor mix ect and not have to stop mid sound check.. Then it will be truly awesome! but yer.... awesome already i know.

If 10 musicians each have their own iPad to control his/her own stage monitor mix, then is there a feature that guards against the musicians from having access to the Main Channel FOH mix??? I can just imagine each musician all having access to the Main Channel faders and turning himself/herself UP---as in MoreMe--Overriding or FaderFighting with the FOH engineer.
UMMMM Im sorry. You made the statement that no one else uses the Ipad as a control surface. Have a look at the Prosonus Studio Live. I use the Ipad to control that with wireless connection.

Same problem I've been having. This is why I HATE apple. I like full control of my systems. No one seems to know where the default files are stored. Sorry I wasn't much help. I'm just mad and frustrated at trying to find an answer.

Mackie is still refining the software, but there will be password control over access to prevent unauthorized users from signing onto the DL1608.

I wonder if you could use 2 of these mixers together , like daisy chain them or something. So you can make 12 monitor mixes.
