She has said that the song can mean what you want it to me, but when she's discussed it, she wrote it about God.

Love this song. It helped me through so many hard times in my life. My husband almost 27 years of marriage cheated on me and left my autistic son and I for another woman. It has been really hard for my son and I to deal with. This song and God is getting us through. Thank you Lauren for this amazing song 🎵 God bless you 🙏

First time I heard this song on the radio I got tears in my eyes. I contacted the radio station to find out who sang that song and that is when I discovered Lauren.

The very first time I heard this song on the radio was minutes before the therapy session where I broke through an identity crisis that had plagued me for over a year. I credit this song for that breakthrough and for helping me through the processing of all the junk related to the crisis. Thank you Lauren. Also, my favorite memory of this song...
I was at a homeless shelter, and a church was holding a hot dog event for the homeless.
As I was in the line up and that beautiful voice singing this beautiful song came floating out the church windows over the event. I commented and thanked the volunteers for playing such "good" music for us.

I know where and when this took place. This was at Highpoint Church in my hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. I was in the audience when I first heard it for the first time. I was so into worshipping God it was so infectious. After the concert, I met her backstage and she recognized and hugged me from the last two times we’ve seen each other after two concerts. I was at that tour.. it was on A Night with Lauren Daigle. It was maybe 6 or 7 dates max. I was at the Maryland show. I am so glad I got the setlist to take home, as it has become a piece of history. Showing that in 2016, while that masterpiece was a work in progress... and feeling God work through it. Never knowing that 2-3 years later, it would become the biggest worship song of all time and shatter so many records.
