Recently I completed an intermediate excel test sent by the employer. The test was 30+ questions, set up by SkillCheck and it was a software simulation test (the worst kind, imo). To my surprise, about two thirds of the test was pretty simple and straight forward. It was comprised of copying and pasting cells, formatting and saving worksheets. The more difficult questions were about creating a formula to multiply different cells, creating slicers and a couple more formula questions. Hope this helps anyone taking these tests during the interview process.
@@mohddilshad5025 I don't think there was any monitoring of the assessment that I took with the exception of how many questions i answered correctly or incorrectly, of course. I don't think it was monitored for time or anything like that.

I used to have a co-worker who changed my excel work (yearly end closing) and sabotaged me. She refused me to do password protection. I ended up losing my job because of her. Its important to do password protection if your excel work is shared to other people...

ive been using excel for years and I could say im really proficient with it. But seeing your videos about excel really opened new prespectives on how dynamic this software really is and your videos taught me things that I havent even thought of using before. You are absolutely wonderful! :) Thankfully, I clicked "pause" and tried each task for each question that you asked and, luckily, I already knew most of these. That said, I must admit... I have thoroughly enjoyed watching this video! I love your teaching method & the way you go about explaining things! I have no doubt this video has helped a lot of people out. One thing that I'm most concerned with is that I know nothing about the test that I am getting ready to take (which is what lead me to your video) so even though I have been working in Excel for many years and am usually the "go-to" person at work anytime anyone has Excel questions and I've built many super awesome spreadsheets for folks that are actually still being used to this day, I still get so nervous before taking assessment tests, so I'm a bit worried that there will be trick questions or perhaps multiple methods of gathering the same info or arriving at the same answer, that I'm scared I'll get a question wrong that I actually would have gotten correct if I was working on an real Excel spreadsheet! lol Nevertheless, I do feel much more comfortable about testing my skills now that I've worked alongside you, while watching your video! And I'm super excited that I got nearly all of your questions correct. :) Thank you so much for your assistance! A good extra tip about text to column is that this is a great way to convert a column of text to numbers. You don’t even need to create another column. Highlight the column with numbers formatted as text, then run through all of the steps of text to columns without choosing anything which means you are going to stay in that one column since you only have the one number per cell. The magic of text to columns is that numbers become numbers so just by running through text to columns your whole column is numbers as numbers. If your text is the result of a formula you can use NUMBERVALUE to convert the result of that formula to a number 😊 so if you extracted text before/after delimiter and want the result to be number. Thank you for these. Can I ask if the same commands and shortcuts are applicable to Mac PC/laptops and yes I do have Microsoft 365? I'm about to have the exam and it's been over a year since I was last employed and hence lacking in confidence though I have been using excel for over 20 years for just regular tables - no pivots. graphs, or complicated comparatives.

Hi, I am sorry I didn't get your name. I am following your videos these days, which I find very instructive, to prepare for a test which is a one day exam (excel is one of the thinks I will be tested for). So my question is what kind of excel test questions do you think we can get for a 24 hour test? I was told that for all the parts of the exam the time to work on it would be about 3-4 hours, so I guess for excel only is one hour. But as i said I have a day to hand in the exam. Thank you very much for any suggestion.

I have a series of number, but i want to add prefix number to the series of number, so how do i Auto the prefix. For example 975544 i want to add 080 to the front of the different series of numbers. What formula do i use?????

If your Excel worksheet has data in a table format and you no longer want the data and its formatting, here's how you can remove the entire table. Select all the cells in the table, click Clear and pick Clear All. Tip: You can also select the table and press Delete. Please let me know if it helped. Thanks 4 watching!

If the cell is already formatted as percent and you enter "0.5", it will be 0.5%. If you enter 0.5 and then format the cell to percent, then it would be 50%. I think the answer to your question is wrong.

Recently I completed an intermediate excel test sent by the employer. The test was 30+ questions, set up by SkillCheck and it was a software simulation test (the worst kind, imo). To my surprise, about two thirds of the test was pretty simple and straight forward. It was comprised of copying and pasting cells, formatting and saving worksheets. The more difficult questions were about creating a formula to multiply different cells, creating slicers and a couple more formula questions. Hope this helps anyone taking these tests during the interview process.

@@mohddilshad5025 I don't think there was any monitoring of the assessment that I took with the exception of how many questions i answered correctly or incorrectly, of course. I don't think it was monitored for time or anything like that.

It would have been good explain why there is a random 0 at the end of the Index & Match string.
in sumif function example , why did you use B2:B11 instead of B2:B12. thank you
You are absolutely wonderful! :) Thankfully, I clicked "pause" and tried each task for each question that you asked and, luckily, I already knew most of these. That said, I must admit... I have thoroughly enjoyed watching this video! I love your teaching method & the way you go about explaining things! I have no doubt this video has helped a lot of people out. One thing that I'm most concerned with is that I know nothing about the test that I am getting ready to take (which is what lead me to your video) so even though I have been working in Excel for many years and am usually the "go-to" person at work anytime anyone has Excel questions and I've built many super awesome spreadsheets for folks that are actually still being used to this day, I still get so nervous before taking assessment tests, so I'm a bit worried that there will be trick questions or perhaps multiple methods of gathering the same info or arriving at the same answer, that I'm scared I'll get a question wrong that I actually would have gotten correct if I was working on an real Excel spreadsheet! lol Nevertheless, I do feel much more comfortable about testing my skills now that I've worked alongside you, while watching your video! And I'm super excited that I got nearly all of your questions correct. :) Thank you so much for your assistance! A good extra tip about text to column is that this is a great way to convert a column of text to numbers. You don’t even need to create another column. Highlight the column with numbers formatted as text, then run through all of the steps of text to columns without choosing anything which means you are going to stay in that one column since you only have the one number per cell. The magic of text to columns is that numbers become numbers so just by running through text to columns your whole column is numbers as numbers.
If your text is the result of a formula you can use NUMBERVALUE to convert the result of that formula to a number 😊 so if you extracted text before/after delimiter and want the result to be number. The text to columns track wood actually show the text of your formula hee hee

Thank you for these. Can I ask if the same commands and shortcuts are applicable to Mac PC/laptops and yes I do have Microsoft 365? I'm about to have the exam and it's been over a year since I was last employed and hence lacking in confidence though I have been using excel for over 20 years for just regular tables - no pivots. graphs, or complicated comparatives.

Hello. In the very first question the sumif range was b2:b11. Why is it not b2:b12? I'm not an expert at all so honestly just trying to understand....
I think it's because the last Jason ended at B10 so he just added one more to make it b11. He could've actually ended at b10 though.

Using Excel Macros can speed up work and save you a lot of time.
If you have tasks in Microsoft Excel that you do repeatedly, you can record a macro to automate those tasks. A macro is an action or a set of actions that you can run as many times as you want. When you create a macro, you are recording your mouse clicks and keystrokes.
Excel Macro Examples:
Unhide All Worksheets at One Go.
Hide All Worksheets Except the Active Sheet.
Sort Worksheets Alphabetically Using VBA.
Protect All Worksheets At One Go.
Unprotect All Worksheets At One Go.
Unhide All Rows and Columns.
Unmerge All Merged Cells.
Save Workbook With TimeStamp in Its Name.

Why did only use the range B2:11 when solving the Jason SUMIF question? Why didn't you add B12 in the range when you included C12 in the range to get the answer?

Hi, I am sorry I didn't get your name. I am following your videos these days, which I find very instructive, to prepare for a test which is a one day exam (excel is one of the thinks I will be tested for). So my question is what kind of excel test questions do you think we can get for a 24 hour test? I was told that for all the parts of the exam the time to work on it would be about 3-4 hours, so I guess for excel only is one hour. But as i said I have a day to hand in the exam. Thank you very much for any suggestion.

It's hard to say which exactly questions you'd be getting so just try to prepare as much as you can as it's usually much easier to pass tests when you're ready for them and know what to expect. Easier way to Auto Filter.-->Highlight the column headers you want to use filter feature on--> Data--> Filter. Done.
I have a series of number, but i want to add prefix number to the series of number, so how do i Auto the prefix. For example 975544 i want to add 080 to the front of the different series of numbers. What formula do i use?????
32.12 the answer is text to column but you first say 'the answer here is split to columns' that's confusing...i suppose is a mistake?

I am wondering which questions might be tested in excel assessment for purchasing analysis position. Where could I download it? Thanks
on the substitute function you put SUBSTITUTE(A1,%," ")..... are we supposed to literally type ALL of that exactly in that form? and then I assume hit "enter"? or just click onto your next column? When I try CTRL + ;, it shows the current time, rather than current date. Anyone know how to change it?
I turned down the speed of the speaker. I am NOT a speedo. A little slower?

I have an Excel and Word employment tests coming in 1 day, I have been studying but there are too many thins to learn in short time, need help.
Just try to watch as many videos as you can. Perhaps, change the speed of the video to accomodate your learning style. how to delete a pre-marked table in excel?
If your Excel worksheet has data in a table format and you no longer want the data and its formatting, here's how you can remove the entire table. Go to the Data-tab and choose "Text to Columns".
On the first screen, leave radio button on "delimited" and click Next.
Unselect any delimiter boxes (everything blank) and click Next.

Your formula on first example does not work on Excel 2013. I created the same worksheet and my result is 0. What am I doing wrong?

If the cell is already formatted as percent and you enter "0.5", it will be 0.5%. If you enter 0.5 and then format the cell to percent, then it would be 50%. I think the answer to your question is wrong.
