Inspired by Germanic folklore, a tragedy at a mysterious lake continues to haunt a family years after the incident. As Jack Coyle struggles to keep his shattered family together, a strange and powerful entity reveals itself again, opening the wounds for another tragedy to occur. As Jack deals with the consequences, he also must protect his young niece from this frightening creature which threatens to destroy everyone.

1. Of course, we all remember Dee Wallace as the mom in Steven Spielberg's classic, E.T. But horror fans also know her from Cujo, The Howling, Critters, and The Hills Have Eyes.
2. You may remember Michael Paré as a true icon of the '80s, breaking through with a supporting role in The Greatest American Hero, before taking the title role in the cult rock 'n' roll film Eddie & The Cruisers, subsequently co-starring in Streets of Fire and the TV action series Houston Knights. More recently he's had roles in such hits as Hope Floats, The Lincoln Lawyer and The Virgin Suicides. Sci-fi fans also know him from the cult series Starhunter.
3. Nix and Sharknado share the same director. - Zábava
This was a weird one, but I liked it. My mom was of German heritage, and I learned about the Nix early: when we went out to hike or fish, she told us to beware the Nix, it would drag us down in the water and drown us. We would laugh; it was just a humorous way of telling us to come back alive. This is more of a family drama, with past traumas, than a creature movie, but it's interesting to see the Nix representing past sins and traumas. It doesn't entirely work, but really interesting. Very, very well acted, especially Dee Wallace, Skylar Caleb, and young Niedha Renee Guilbot. And so great to see Michael Pare' again, still good looking and charismatic, even as an old guy. Really enjoyed watching this.

I am German and never heard of the Nix.. even though I almost drowned in a lake as child. But.. weird movie.. lol was interesting ☺️ I love horror and action movies.
Dee Wallace is such an underrated actress. She is simply amazing in all her movies..

I enjoyed this film, although I feel like something was lost in the translation of the story. It had an eerie atmosphere with a couple of decently creepy parts, as well as good acting. Dee Wallace is fantastic in every role she's given. I just love her! My favorite role she's ever played, that will probably never be topped for me, is her character in the original Howling.
She's absolutely fantastic in that movie.
She also carried the entire movie "CUJO."

I was confused about the movie 😮, but watched, because Dee Wallace was in it. Starred in many scary, shows like Cujo, the Howling...played an on set news reporter. She was bitten by a Wolf. And she made them keep her on air while she transformed. She didn't get the recognition that she deserved 😔. She still has "IT" after all these years. How sweet she got Tessa back. What a way to go 😊😊😊😊.

Thanks for the appreciation. Our advice is to definitely give the film 20-30 minutes before turning it off. Sometimes a movie surprises you within that time. Sometimes you realized you hated it. @@frightpixtv I completely agree. I read a lot of reviews when I'm not quite sure if I want to take a chance on a film or not. IMDB is my number 1 go to for that. Also, if you've only seen 5 or 10 minutes of something and aren't feeling it, move on. Maybe don't critique the entire film if you didn't even watch it. That's always kind of bugged me. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, though. I think it's nice that you replied to those who didn't care for the film, even though you really shouldn't feel obligated to.
I enjoyed every moment of the movie. It kept my attention from the beginning till the end. Different but excellent.

Dee Wallace was great as the mother in E.T. too. Good scary movie but strange. Confusing at the end but it came together quiet nicely. I don't recommend watching alone at night. 🙂 Now I have the willies. I'm going to go finish my "Joyland" book by Stephen King now.

Here's some advice, if you are looking for a peaceful, quiet time, at home or on vacation, make sure in advance that Dee Wallace is nowhere close, she has a way of summoning the damndest creatures.

that mother is not a good mother. She didn't keep an eye on her daughter in the woods with a body of water nearby for one and then she guilt trips her sons for 25 years. i'm surprised they hung around and vought into that kind of bs that puts the dead offspring above the living offspring.

Michael Pare knocked us all on our asses in Eddie and the Cruisers in the 80s. He was SUCH the perfect, smoking hot bad boy that teens dropped dead for. I was casual pals with his brother Joe for many years in the 90s. A really lovely guy. He had the Pare good looks and was man of VERY few words. I made sure to bite my tongue about Michael. I’m sure Joe had had his fill of gushing women talking about how they once crushed hard on his famous and gorgeous “kid brother” 😂

the nix/nöck and his female counterpart, the nixe, is simply a waterspirit that might drown unwary travellers. They're not monsters creeping about away from the water. The film looks a lot like the makers were tripping on bad drugs. Still worth a watch if you can stomach loads of shaky handcamera.

So you allowed your mom to walk into a lake without trying to stop her and put her in a hospital instead so she can get herself some help on a scale from one to ten this was pretty good Dee Wallace is a very good horror actress she is definitely up there with Lenea quigley or brinke Steven’s all of the other veteran horror actors and actresses including Barbara crampton she always does great work especially in the howling which I loved just watch it recently still holds up well after all of these years
