  • Join us as we dive deep into the profound and inspiring wisdom of Farid ud-Din Attar, a Persian poet, theoretician of Sufism, and hagiographer from Nishapur who lived between 1145 and 1221. Attar, whose full name means 'perfumer' in Farsi (Persian), was a pharmacist in his early life but later devoted his life to writing and religious teaching.
In this video, we present a curated collection of Attar's quotes from his celebrated work, "The Conference of the Birds" or "Mantiq at-Tayr," one of the most significant texts in Sufi literature. Written in the form of an allegorical poem, the book beautifully explores the journey of the soul's quest for truth, vividly illustrated through the metaphor of birds seeking their king, the Simurgh. Notably, Attar's influence can be found in the works of Rumi, another renowned Persian poet and Sufi mystic.
The quotes presented in this video are translated from the Shambhala version of the "Conference of the Birds." They cover a wide range of themes, from self-realization and the pursuit of truth to courage, perseverance, and the dangers of worldly attachment. The selected quotes invite us to ponder the profound depths of our spirit, the essential need for self-awareness, and the supreme unity of all existence.
Immerse yourself in the mystical ocean of Attar's wisdom and let his words guide you on your spiritual journey. His insights have the power to illuminate your path, inspire courage in the face of adversity, and provide a mirror reflecting the divine within the heart.
Remember, Attar invites us to ponder his words: "Ponder over this Secret But Do Not Reveal It." Let us seek wisdom in silence and action, embracing love, renouncing the transient, and striving for the eternal.
