First time I heard this was Christmas morning when my best friend picked me up, he played this on the long stretch of desert between Flagstaff Arizona and Quartzsite Arizona and it was the perfect music to enter the desert and look at the miles of the landscape to on that long empty road 🏜

This is the greatest song I've ever heard. Anyone who slaps the bass understands. And that funky little lead he's got going just makes me want to take LSD and I haven't done that in years. So beautiful. Claypool is a genius

It was a general phrase not relating to this song in particular! But its the way in which he can adjust his style to fit any music!
That's precisely my point, his style is very unique and not very adjustable. I think there are plenty of styles that would sound bad if he played on them

I don't really thing being able to play every style would necessarily be a good thing. As far as artistic integrity goes, having a solid style and sticking to it, being unique, is better than being able to emulate others and to be conformist. At least, in my opinion it is. Take it with a grain of salt.

Honestly I tripped last night. I prefer watching and listening to gritty stuff. Hell even requiem for a dream. But man. His voice in this. It just. Pulled at my spine. It was rough. Beautiful but rough.
To me the best "working drummer" was Herb,his style was unique,jazz,funk and a bit heavy combined with awesome technique.I still like Brain with syncopated beats and Jay Lane too but I think these guys where using "basic(sorry)syncopation jazz)"to an extreme of technical prowess but still. (These guys ARE awesome drummers),but lacked that twist of imagination Herb had melting with Claypool's craziness
.I hope that the reuniting with Herb will give something great.
