- We created a glass fish bridge for our pet Betta! The bridge extends between two planted tanks. We were impressed with the end results and our Betta was using this 'sky passage' in the first few minutes! If you enjoyed this video, please subscribe for more!

I love the contrasting looks of the two tanks. I imagine it will provide extra mental stimulation for the fish too.. Does he have a preference for one tank or the other?
@@jesusislord6545 sir this is a video about a fish tank.
@@Ericaaaaaaaaaa maybe he means that the fish prefers one tank, but is usually fed with the other? So fasts, and weeps to not be fed, but returns to that tank?
Maybe.

How long will it stay clean. My guess is that you would have to remove it for cleaning and then suck out all the air again...

Amazing stuff! So many people dont even give the bettafish a tank the size of the bridge 😂😂
You are a cruel individual who instead of encouraging a "better in your opinion"option, you throw that opportunity away & instead bully those who need guidance!
Some people can't afford the tanks and the the rocks so that's why much people don't do it
@@cherryandalex9400 ya true but many rlly dont care :(
@@louisecann7118 Was there a deleted comment?Because there's no bullying going on in here.
@@cherryandalex9400 Well, they shouldn't even own a betta in the first place if they can't afford at least a 2.5 gallon tank and the other necessities.
It's so rare to see a happy betta! Love what you did for him
This is so gorgeous! He has space and enrichment and foliage, making this better than most betta tanks I see. Most… are horrible. But this is great! The only thing I personally might do is add a few more plants.
If they were to add more plants the fish would not have enough room to swim.
This fish tank is amazingly creative!! I LOVE seeing that Bettas are getting tanks bigger than a simple 1-2 gallon. INCREDIBLE!! 😍
So cute to see the beta exploring their home and swimming about
Had I not come across your video, there's a chance that I would have lived out my entire life without encountering the term "fish bridge". I am forever grateful.
Me too
If I can I'm making one
I just watched a fish go from one Tank to the other and was completely "Captivated!" 😀
Bruh, I'm struggling to have one house while this fish casually swimming between two.
Your betta fish must be very happy because when ever it is bored it can go to a new world
You should've lower the water level on the bridge to give air for the betta since bettas are anabantoids. I recommend putting floating plants like duckweeds and frogbits at the bridge.
This was a concern! Thanks for this
Great point all! We have since done so and agree that adding plants would help increase oxygenation, look fantastic and give some more perspective too.
bettas only breathe air in low oxygen the more live plants the more the betta can breathe normally without taking big gulps of air for example my 20 gallon cycled tank my betta never comes up for air cuz theres enough oxygen and i watch him like a hawk never seen him gulp in air they only do it when necessary they rather high oxygen tanks its more comfortable for them.
@@starboy7722 yes they developed that because they were used to living stagnant puddles in the wild during dry seasons and what not
@@ML-ks2lj yeah and when the streams the live in become puddles they become toxic so they developed to breathe air and jump from puddle to puddle to find one less toxic to live in
I wonder if the fish feels like flying while in the tube . Must be really cute
Well dang…now I have to make my betta fish his own penthouse. 🌹love the music and your channel! Bellisima! 🌹💃🏽🌹💃🏽
Boy that is one lucky little fish to have such a Good Momma.
...Whoa! A Betta Fish Luxury Condo? Now, that's bad ass!

That fish bridge is melting my brain. I know the principle that keeps the water in there but it just looks so impossible.
@@Imcet5 I believe it has to do with atmospheric pressure, similar to if you have a soft drink, holding the top of a straw in the middle of a sip, your beverage will not spill, so long as you hold your finger at the top, the atmospheric pressure keeps the liquid in. This shouldn't work in a vacuum I assume.
The simplest way I imagine it is turning a full water bottle upside down in another body of water, the height of the water inside wont change, if we imagine many differently/oddly shaped containers doing the same, the bridge shape begins to seem less impossible if not normal. If we were to poke a hole at the top of any of these containers, it'd begin to become like a straw and spill, until you cover that hole again, the atmosphere will push the water to equalize the level.
@@sabaideebee like the paper, ruler trick. The atmospheric pressure was keeping the ruler from falling even though the weight of the paper wasn’t keeping it up. Not sure if they’re any videos of it in a vacuum, but It’ll be the same thing.
@@sabaideebee Thank goodness. I said I understood the principle, but that's different to being able to explain it coherently!
Thank you for stepping in.
@@komiismywaifu7616 I've seen videos of this becoming popular, the CZcams channel "The Action Lab" recently tested this in a vacuum, and the paper does not hold! Its pretty cool

Very cool idea but seems like it could be a nightmare to clean and would likely gradually lose water from the bridge over time.
Water-tight seals are fairly easy but since the bridge relies on negative pressure to hold the bridge water above the tank water level, it needs an air-tight seal. Otherwise you'll need to be frequently messing with the bridge, suctioning out air.
Genuine question, don't own fish: Why would it be difficult to clean?
@@stobie9063 Ever tried cleaning around a tight corner? And cleaning algae off glass requires serious elbow grease at times
@@stobie9063 also, it requires draining most of the water, and in my experience needing to swish the gravel around with a little bit of water to get as much muck out of the gravel as possible. Since they created a "gradient," from large stones to sand, it's going to be difficult to get fish poo out of as well as maintain the original gradient
Love this idea. If they don't like the set up in one tank they can go to the other.
Would love to know if he prefers a planted tank or just rocks etc.❤
I think this kind of fish is one of the rarest fishes in the world
The choice of your music has me believe that this noble fish has lost someone he truly loved and is now in forced isolation because he just can not go on another day in the company of others, being reminded of her and the memories they’ve shared.
The tank is nice, too.
This is so relaxing to watch lmfao… why am I up in 3 am watching this

Hey I'm FC from Thailand, I really like your idea and I'm following from Tik Tok.😊

That is amazing.. never seen a bridge like that before.. great job!
Thats because the bridge doesnt work they way they show. Look at the tanks on the left and right. Note the water level.
@@fjc_adventures4359 care to explain? i dont quite get what you are going on about?
@@mqegg just saying that its imposible for it to work the way its shown on the video. Also you never actually see the fish swim the entire way from one tank to th top of the bridge.
The tanks and fish are are bautifull, not taking anything away from that.
Your fish looks thrilled
watching that betta swim was so mesmerizing omg he’s so beautiful.
love watching your videos
Now I'm imagining this on a larger scale with two groups of Betta fish having a turf war on the bridge...
We will finally get to see who is the alpha...
🤪
i dont want this idea to be taken the wrong way, as i am inpressed and amazed at the project!
WELL DONE!!!
my only suggestion, would be to add some scenery to the bridge.
by adding tiny "walls" on the bottom of the bridge, you can fill it with flora adding some "pretty" to the passage :)
again - this is not a complaint by any means!
just an "oooh what if ya did this too!" suggestion.
Wow, I never thought of this idea.
OOO thats actually really clever!!
This is a brilliant idea! Would be even more dope if you can make short barriers in the bridge and plant some short plants there 😃
What do you use for your water changes when you use fine particles like sand? Do you just avoid suctioning over the sand section? Or do you have a specific product?
I've always wondered the same
Suck a load of the sand out with the muck and put it back in after rinsing it. The muck is much lighter and not much sand will come out. It needs churning up to stop anaerobic bacteria from forming and benefits from fish that burrow or move it.
Can we admire how beautiful the tank and fish is 😍😍😍😍
Beautiful tank, beautiful little fish.... Only thing missing is a little friend 🐠 + 🐠 = 💞
This is Beautiful! Now I feel like having a gorgeous fish like this.
I would love to do this kind of stuff when I'm older, but sadly I'm allergic to fish so I can't, but atleast I can watch people like you to know how I would do stuff, keep up the great work🙂
How can you be allergic to fish?
Because I was born
And your possitive that you cant be in the vicinity of a living fish, most alergies to fish require you to come into contact with fish proteins, so as long as you didnt touch the fish with your bare hands and took appropriet measures when cleaning the tank, you may be able to have a pet fish.
If its something you really want to do, you should ask your doctor if its safe at your next visit (assuming you already havent).
@@jacobhargiss3839 yes but if I do stuff like this I'm touching stuff that has been contaminated
@@jacobhargiss3839 I also set my life on other goals, i would rather do other stuff than this in my life, the only thing I like doing and would be happy with my life doing is fishing, because it means that I get to see three of my best friends often, it's how we bond very well.
But other than that I could just use gloves
My phone has been listening to my conversations, I was literally talking about Betta fish today!!
I believe the fish likes the bridge more than the actual two homes
hey! how did you determine the dimensions of your bridge? Also it looks like you used glass, what thickness did you use and is it heavy? thanks! :)
I did the calculations on pen and paper, it was a little tricky as you need to account for the thickness of the glass but overall not too hard! I made the opening 5 inches x 5 inches. I had these cut to size at Ace Hardware and I believe it was 0.125 inch glass. This is quite thin but worked well! Its very light but fragile. Would highly recommend making your own, let me know if you do!
The glass doesn't have to be very thick, there is almost no pressure on it. In fact the pressure is negative, meaning the water pressure in the bridge is even lower than the air pressure outside. If there was a hole somewhere in the bridge, air would be sucked in because the water wants to level out with the water in the tanks.
I would like to know how you keep it warm? Every beta I've ever had that has successfully grown and come to full brilliance of color and lived long lives, did so in warmer tanks. Do you have a heating system installed do you have a heating pad of some sort? I just wonder how you keep it at a healthy temperature?
A aquarium heater
I really love the music in the background 😻
I love how unique you make your tanks for your fish! I wish I was one of your fish!
Can someone explain how the bridge works, is it affected by the hydrostatic paradox? Does having air space in the bridge pull the water out?
Not a physicist but here's how i understand it:
The ends of the bridge are continuously submerged in the water. So while there still is air in the bridge, it's cut off from the rest of the air.
Next step is to guide a hose into the air in the tunnel and use a pump to suck the air out. This causes the pressure in the tunnel/bridge to drop which sucks the water up. Keep in mind that this means the water level in the tanks drops but the entrances to the bridge have to stay underwater or air will rush in. You may have to pause the pump and refill the tanks before pumping air out again.
Do this until most or all air is removed. Then you can stop the pump and remove the hose with no issue.
Forces at work: Air pressure mainly, and the suction of the pump which causes the pressure imbalance.
How do you clean this ?
Where can the bridge be purchased?
To clean this tank, I remove the bridge completely. It adds about 10 more minutes to my maintenance days, which isn't too bad imo.
I actually made the bridge! I followed a great tutorial by @thekingofdiy to build it. I'm getting the bridge made out of acrylic locally as we speak, which I'm SUPER excited about 🤗 I can't wait to share with you all!
She is kind and lovely owner, besides she's best of taking care about aquarium.
I have no idea why but I giggled when the fish went through the bridge. I guess I was happy to see him explore.
Any worries that the betta would get confused in the bridge trying to go up for air and just stay up there? Like he feels he’s at the highest point and has nowhere else to go but can’t get air there, so could drown. I’m sure some fish could figure it out but it makes me anxious 😅😂
He’s a fish..
@@FollinEmpire and?
@@FollinEmpire fun fact: fish can drown too? Especially a surface breathing fish like a beta lmao
Give the fish some credit. He's smarter than you think. (;
Seemed it had no issues exploring and immediately figuring out where the air-side entrances are
When I saw thumbnail I was really angry, i thought that connecting two 10*10 cubes is still too small. But then I saw their real size and was amazed.
The ideas i have in my mind with these bridges...
