The large group musical performed at the 2013 District X Competition was "Revolting Children" from Matilda the Musical. It received a ranking of Critic's Choice, the highest possible ranking.
I read the comments before watching the video, so I didn't have very high expectations. But I was pleasantly surprised when I actually watched the video. It was pretty good. I enjoyed it.
This is a really hard song to sing, but I think they did pretty good at it. There is a lot of room for improvement though. That thank you at the end though. 😂
Trust me its really exhausting, I'm in sixth grade and me and my thestee camp group are performing this number and its so tiring to sing and dance and the same time. But these people look way older than sixth grade so it must've been even tiring for them and the dance was way harder I domt know how they did all that, im usual exhausted and gasping for air 30 seconds in the dance and its 2 x harder for me as I have to sing soprano in the song
It wasn't the best but instead of hating I'll leave constructive critisism: 1. If someone's singing by themselves with a mic, don't make them dance. They'll run out of breath and have a shakey voice unless they're professionally trined (Yes, it' possible) 2. Being dramatic is good and I like the attempt but try not to be way over dramatic. 3. The singers (who aren't Bruce) should sing louder because a mic is a lot louder than your voices and we can only hear Bruce.
Dude with a mic you have to dance instead of just standing there I’m in a play called Matilda my dude is Bruce and I have to dance while singing the woah so shut up
you probably dont care but if you're bored like me during the covid times then you can watch all the new movies and series on instaflixxer. Been binge watching with my gf these days xD
I expected this to be horrible but that was very good, definitely not perfect but if I saw that live I would still enjoy it. And the description directly says they got the highest award possible. (which I don't know about this competition but I know some performing arts competition will give the highest rank to half the contestants but I don't know for sure.)
you guys did a pretty good job, i think it would've been better if you took out a majority of the tricks out because tends be to look sloppy or incredibly distracting, especially when those two guys were throwing that chair in the background. Some vocal points tended to lose its diction and you can hear the strained vocals near the end of the song, that plays into the less tricks comment, it gives you time to stabilize your breathing and have a stronger and dynamic sound. I'm currently a choir competition singer and also a show choir singer so these critics weren't meant to hurt but rather give you advice if you were to do this performance again :)
All the Advanced theatre nerds have heard this call for help. 1. They are clearly running out of breathe quickly. For a routine like this you need to practice having a steady voice at home not just at rehearsals. For an example: Jog and sing the the song how you would for rehearsals. 2. Bruce's vocals slay but they need to stay that way. So I would recommend having the actor not dance as much as the ensemble. 3. DICTION. I get that it's a hard song to do when there's so much dancing but that's what practice is for. Most of the time I couldn't understand what the ensemble was singing same with Bruce when his vocals are suppose to stand out at times. 4. BRUCE YOU HAVE GOOD VOCALS SO PROJECT IT AND LET ME HEAR IT. 5. What is the choreography going on with the two boys in the back it seems so separated and awkward from everyone else. 6. The chairs are so noisy over everyone singing. Overall it's not terrible it just needed more work.
I really don't mean to be rude but they were not harmonizing at all. They didn't enunciate or use diction at all. Then towards the end they were all starting and stopping at different times and this is not a round song..... Also the dance was so random and cringey...
This was really good! I have a few suggestions for next time coming from a performer- -practice singing whilst doing something energetic, for example jogging on the spot, so that your voice gets used to using a lot of breath and energy whilst moving, and remains steady. -try not to include distractions like the people fighting upstage and the acrobatic tricks halfway through downstage. People tend to be drawn to the ‘odd ones out’, which distracts an audience. For example, if you went to see a show at your local theatre, you naturally can tell which performers are in the zone and which ones are thinking about what they are having for dinner, which can really downplay a whole sequence or scene. -Instead, if you want to have a really clean dance, ensure everyone does the same choreography and knows what they are doing. This means there are a lot less things to look at and the whole sequence will be easier to look at, as your eyes won’t be wandering to the dancer doing fouettés stage left in contrast to everyone else performing aggressive choreography. -another suggestion is to watch the West End or Broadway choreography for revolting children. Obviously, don’t copy their exact choreography, but something I really enjoy watching about it is halfway through, maybe 3 children will be singing one part doing their own thing whilst all the other children are frozen for a few seconds, so all the focus is primarily on one group. I think it’s in the “We can S-P-L how we like...” sequence. My point is, your choreography is really good, you have all of the gists and tones, but it just needs cleaning up.
Some of the senior girls in my troupe did this for their IE at ThesCon and they sounded wonderful (mainly bceause it was only 7 extremely talented girls)
Oof were doing this song for a competition and holly heck is it hard so props to you guys and you were able to do intense choreography and for those of you who don't know dancing and singing is really hard and it really drains your energy
No offence but when I was 10 we did it better then this... Tbh we were quite an advanced group bc it involved like flips off chairs and stuff but stilllll
This is actually pretty good. Though the slapping on the floor and the extra noise of the chairs drained out the singers voices quite a bit since they were out of breath. Even though they were extremely out of breath, I don’t blame them since this song is pretty difficult to sing
The last couple of verses sounded really tired (can’t blame you guys, it’s tough choreography) and a bit sharp, but otherwise, i really really liked this!
I feel like the choreography could have been a lot better due to the age and they were really out of tune but the energy levels of the performance was great
To be honest as a dancer i think the dancing was pretty messy and the fight in the background was sort of distracting. Also i think that using the only dancer to do flips across the room and do turns while the whole dance was pretty low level looked like a bit of a cheat and sort of unbalanced. Doing flips and turns shouldn’t really be the only thing really flashy about the dance but it is okay if you decided to do that. but also their poor feet when they were stomping in the jazz shoes (i just had to make the comment, it isn’t really important). It was good in all and i enjoyed it and i know it’s been like six years but just some constructive criticism.
Yeah... It doesn't look that great when you just copy the entire Broadway choreography... And even then don't do it as well as the literal 9 year olds in the show. :/
They do all that and get a little “thank you” at the end lol 😂😂
That leg slap reminds me of the dance from Mean Girls
LS Kath ikr xx
That's literally what I was thinking lol
I know the song
The best parts of this whole routine were the "woah's" sung by Bruce😂
When the teacher leaves for 1 minute
AAHHAHAHAHAAHAHA

Me too

Watch this at 2x speed, you'll like it.
Is it bad that I found this so funny

thankyou so fucking much
They started to sound tired near the end

At a different time I was Matilda for this it was AWESOME
This was really good. I loved the girl how played Bruce and their faces were great

They started too loud at the beginning and should’ve gotten louder and more aggressive at the end
The amount of genuine energy she put Into 4942 was way more than the acting she did for the performance
ahaha after all that and the end they just go : “thank you”
this makes me uncomfortable. but eh it’s okay I guess
They are really good
*very impressive and intense performance ends*
"...thank you"
The facial expressions are everything 😂😂

Yah the woahhh at the beginning was kinda worse then how the kids did it sorry but the little kids are better
I’d rather them just sing it as a choir lol
"WE ARE REVOLTING!" "thank you"
Love the choreography to the chorus - grand job guys!
When they started throwing chairs 😭
The chair throwing at the end be like: 👁️ 👄 👁️
not the best not the worst
It was the "Thank You" at the end for me😂💀
I’m doing this play at my school. This is so good!
Wow I like the face they also give me goosebumps though
So awesome nice job
In love this song
omg you guys were totally awesome
Their British accents on their solo parts were horrific
Well done this is really hard to do. Usually people go to fast. I could tell y'all were out of breath but still I enjoyed it.
So good
amazing
I like this

why are people so negative in the comments. this was really well done! i especially liked the acrobatic tricks and the purple haired person!
Alberte Solveig Bækgaard Mortensen because this song should be done by younger kids and people who can perform (aka not them)
Alberte Solveig Bækgaard Mortensen and it's a musical not a acrobatic performance
Some of the senior girls in my troupe did this for their IE at ThesCon and they sounded wonderful (mainly bceause it was only 7 extremely talented girls)
That was amazing 😮😮
The end “thank you” tho

@@rondospectacle Hi bee
They are ok but have a lot of room for improvement

Bruhhh y'all are so fucking rude in the comments here. I really liked it.

I actually find this pretty good
This wasn’t the best, it needed more energy
ive seen better.
Alot better
my choir song Ivy World School 👌👌👍
WHY ARE SO MANY PEOPLE BRINGING HATE?!?!?!?!
The last couple of verses sounded really tired (can’t blame you guys, it’s tough choreography) and a bit sharp, but otherwise, i really really liked this!
My only criticism is that when they were singing fast, the pronunciation wasn't the best, but I can't really blame them. This was really good
You haters in the comments I bet you couldn't do half as good
Who said your bet is real. I've been doing musical theatre since I was 5. TRY ME😂
@@madisonbarkley9199 :o
Somehow i find this beautiful instead of beautiful.
hope you made it to the talent show if thats why that guy had a pencil
I really want to act in this show
When they said about the violent Waring they say leave the room....
*me*: k
how did this get so many views i'm screaming.
Awesome
An improvement is not using u-s-i-n-g 2 times. It's different.
For all the haters look at the description. Read it and weep
They managed to downgrade the performance meant for 9 year olds.
was a nice performance but i don't know the elements of the routine don't fix each other.
Why is this funny😂lmao
1:07 your welcome
Who’s doing the woah?
That girl can't even sing better than me
They just shout
Teribol singing and Teribol drntsing and what are those fasis

😊
I feel bad for laughing-

I feel like the choreography could have been a lot better due to the age and they were really out of tune but the energy levels of the performance was great

Umm... ok
Not good at all try better 😬
Bruce is a girl, who played Tommy when it said WE WILL BECOME A SCREAMING HOARDE!
I’ve seen much better.
In order to do this you have to be a child about the third or fourth grade
The girl doing Bruce is to overdramatic
What the absolute fuck is wrong with this comment section??

it was good but i definitely think the majority of them are overacting. they just need to find the line, especially for this song.
Ummmmmmm who's deaf after hearing this. Sorry but this was really bad but Bruce was amazing
Stop it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice but it's sooo cringe... maybe primary kids are more suitable lol
They just ruined Matilda the musical for me
Yeah... It doesn't look that great when you just copy the entire Broadway choreography... And even then don't do it as well as the literal 9 year olds in the show. :/
Those aren’t even the right moves plus
They can dance but just don't sing
