If I didn't make myself clear enough on how to do this, you need to go into a battle with pet slots full. Try to catch an evolved pet and it will tell you to buy pet slots. Buy the pet slots and you will be able to catch the pets. You don't have to go to firefly forest, you can go to any area and do this.
I can't do it because I have 160 slots from when I was a member. I think it is because you get 60 slots for free when you become a member. At that point I would have gone over max, so yeah.
