Okay. So today we're going to do a dumbbell bicep curl. And we're going to do this together. It's a dual bicep curl. So that means both arms are going to be working together. It's not one at a time. Again, this is to work your biceps, and a bit of your forearms, and your wrists. So starting out, again, base. Always start with the base. Always start with the feet. Knees are nice and loose. Elbows, and your arms. Loose. Not locked out. Don't want to hurt that joint. Keep it loose. To start the position, you're going to start with your hands in neutral position, meaning they're sideways. They're not up. They're not down. They're by your side. To do this. Again, both dumbbells together. Come up. Squeeze. And control the negative. As you control the negative back down, you're going to rotate your hands back to the start position.
Okay? Now, with this, breathing is very important. You always want to breathe during the part that you're working against gravity. Okay? So you're going to breathe out, and breathe in as you come back down. Again, you're controlling it. Bad habits that you see, guy's throwing the weight up, dropping the weight down. Not doing a thing to help themselves. Always keep control. Especially during the negative. It's very important to keep control during that negative. During the part where you're releasing the weight. It actually benefits you two fold to control that part of the exercise, as opposed to just the contraction.
Another bad habit you see, guys moving their elbows all the way forward to try to get leverage. That takes away from my exercise completely. Keep those elbows locked in place. Again, up. Squeeze that bicep at the top. And release. And that's your dumbbell curl.

the link leads us to a different adjustable dumbbell. I'd prefer one that shortens on lower weights

@@i_observe9846 same
This same thing happened to me I wonder why it happened
@@masonsunday3222 because your muscles are used to lifting a heavier weight
Same here, itâs probably my favorite part of curling
Good video. I wish more people would make good simple videos like this. Simple information that doesnât go on for 15 minutes. Good man!
So true,,, amen
camera man did horrible job though..
Dropped 5kgs off both dumbbells and worked with your method, i've never felt such a good ache and pump before in such lighter dumbbells. Excellent. Absolutely excellent!
for real, I usually do 10s and never felt such ache with 5s
Same. Dropped the weight in favour of better technique, and the hit is far better.

@@thundercuck1779 Hi mate, nice to know that you are alive x)))
What does he mean by squeeze? Squeeze the handle bar?
At first I didn't feel anything, then I remembered to quit taking tiny breaks when I bring my arms down. Now I can feel it a lot in my biceps, thanks!
Tiny breaks?
@@CardMan91 when you bring your arms down and let them sit there for a second. This goes for nearly every workout. Donât fully extend, because youâre resting for that time extended. So when you go all the way down with bicep curls, it stops working the bicep at a certain range and is resting. Same thing going up, the higher you go up the more it starts to work shoulders.
So when youâre benching as well for example, when you go all the ways down to your chess, youâre straining your shoulders more and resting the pectoral muscles at the same time, you want to have constant tension. When you go all the ways up, youâre not working the chest as much, should only go close to lockout, but not fully locking out your arms with bench
@@lolorval3630 I was told you can extend them since their tension at the bicep

â@@w.n5504 you got time lil bro, so if you wanna be even more forward-thinking, I'd say it's even better to start trying to develop good habits overall, especially ones that play into working out, like time management, eating habits, taking advantage of motivation, etc etc. Regardless, gl homie, be careful if you ever do squats, and don't deadlift ââ
@@w.n5504 Well been there, I was like 5'8 while starting
it's hard tbh

Same, I've been doing the whole "throw it up then let it drop." This video was a huge help
As a fat man.. this is very hard to do, but I won't give up.. đȘđ

First you have to reduce weight before exercise it won't make a difference just reduce all the carbs you eat meaning no more chips no more cookies and not to many fruit just eat whole wheat oatmeal for breakfast grab a apple some almonds and a Greek yogurt for lunch and eat something like a healthy sandwich with whole wheat bread then workout
Xavier Qader Nope, he can do it without "reducing" weight, and its better to start while he's fat than start after losing weight (which means losing fat AND muscle). Fat people have more muscle than skinny ones.
When I started I did all this correct form except one thing...I never rotated the freaking dumbbells, I just had them both facing parallel to me the whole exercise...once I broke that habit and started with them perpendicular and rotated them as I lifted like he does, it became so much easier and a good bit more effective.
If youâre OK with it, can you tell me one thing?
Iâve done this method, and another one where the dumbbells are facing forward from the get-go, I donât rotate them. Theyâre straight forward. Which one is more effective, and does it make a difference..? (Personally Iâve felt about the same, with the other technique feeling slightly more effective than the one in this vid, but that may vary from person to person)
â@@Itskfx I'm wondering the same thing bro đđ
I also keep dumbbells parallel. I'll try to rotate and see if I notice a difference.
@@David_R922any difference?
â@@beet158I think so. Getting stronger.
Thank you so much sir. You taught the basic very clearly almost like a personal trainer in just 2 minutes. Amazing video and amazing clarity in teaching. Keep it up and I owe you a lot.
I've got autism and can understand this thanks man đ
Short and simple, with nice pointers to avoid common pitfalls. Fantastic video, thank you.
You are the Moto Moto human's version bro
but in a good way
I was gonna do this exercise at the gym today with the intention of alternating between each arm, not realizing it was advisable to engage them simultaneously. Cheers!
Thank you for this. At the gym the other day, I could overhear a couple of guys talking [mess] because my form was bad. Basically, although I was lifting moderately heavy dumbbells, I wasn't working the full range on the bicep because I was going one arm at a time, pulling the weight up to my shoulder, which basically gave me breaks both at the top, and ay thr bottom of each movement.
Your simple explanation of proper form helped me do a far more efficient workout. Thank you!
OKay thanks! This showed me I have been doing the curls right all along.
