    Okay. So today we're going to do a dumbbell bicep curl. And we're going to do this together. It's a dual bicep curl. So that means both arms are going to be working together. It's not one at a time. Again, this is to work your biceps, and a bit of your forearms, and your wrists. So starting out, again, base. Always start with the base. Always start with the feet. Knees are nice and loose. Elbows, and your arms. Loose. Not locked out. Don't want to hurt that joint. Keep it loose. To start the position, you're going to start with your hands in neutral position, meaning they're sideways. They're not up. They're not down. They're by your side. To do this. Again, both dumbbells together. Come up. Squeeze. And control the negative. As you control the negative back down, you're going to rotate your hands back to the start position.
    Okay? Now, with this, breathing is very important. You always want to breathe during the part that you're working against gravity. Okay? So you're going to breathe out, and breathe in as you come back down. Again, you're controlling it. Bad habits that you see, guy's throwing the weight up, dropping the weight down. Not doing a thing to help themselves. Always keep control. Especially during the negative. It's very important to keep control during that negative. During the part where you're releasing the weight. It actually benefits you two fold to control that part of the exercise, as opposed to just the contraction.
    Another bad habit you see, guys moving their elbows all the way forward to try to get leverage. That takes away from my exercise completely. Keep those elbows locked in place. Again, up. Squeeze that bicep at the top. And release. And that's your dumbbell curl.

      @lolorval3630 Pƙed 11 měsĂci +18

      @@CardMan91 when you bring your arms down and let them sit there for a second. This goes for nearly every workout. Don’t fully extend, because you’re resting for that time extended. So when you go all the way down with bicep curls, it stops working the bicep at a certain range and is resting. Same thing going up, the higher you go up the more it starts to work shoulders.
      So when you’re benching as well for example, when you go all the ways down to your chess, you’re straining your shoulders more and resting the pectoral muscles at the same time, you want to have constant tension. When you go all the ways up, you’re not working the chest as much, should only go close to lockout, but not fully locking out your arms with bench

      First you have to reduce weight before exercise it won't make a difference just reduce all the carbs you eat meaning no more chips no more cookies and not to many fruit just eat whole wheat oatmeal for breakfast grab a apple some almonds and a Greek yogurt for lunch and eat something like a healthy sandwich with whole wheat bread then workout

    When I started I did all this correct form except one thing...I never rotated the freaking dumbbells, I just had them both facing parallel to me the whole exercise...once I broke that habit and started with them perpendicular and rotated them as I lifted like he does, it became so much easier and a good bit more effective.

    • @Itskfx
      @Itskfx Pƙed rokem +3

      If you’re OK with it, can you tell me one thing?
      I’ve done this method, and another one where the dumbbells are facing forward from the get-go, I don’t rotate them. They’re straight forward. Which one is more effective, and does it make a difference..? (Personally I’ve felt about the same, with the other technique feeling slightly more effective than the one in this vid, but that may vary from person to person)

    Thank you for this. At the gym the other day, I could overhear a couple of guys talking [mess] because my form was bad. Basically, although I was lifting moderately heavy dumbbells, I wasn't working the full range on the bicep because I was going one arm at a time, pulling the weight up to my shoulder, which basically gave me breaks both at the top, and ay thr bottom of each movement.
    Your simple explanation of proper form helped me do a far more efficient workout. Thank you!
