I used to do this type of work with a pitch fork. Then eventually with a tractor that had a blade attachment. The improvement/ROI from tractor to this seems pretty marginal. But we do all love some good automation.

a few spots there where the cows cant eat, you have to get one of these for every feeding area and its just to low if there is a lot of feed

Seems cool, just worried about the last three stalls when the pusher lifts up. Could be a possible pinch point. Hopefully, there is a safety clutch, otherwise block those last few stalls.

This pusher fails for a couple reasons. First there is no way it could push feed for cows that are over 60 pounds of DMI and feeding one time a day. Research shows pushing feed 2 hours after feeding gains butterfat. This pusher sits too low to the ground to get over the top of the feed when feeding for high intake cows. Also, no way does this pusher look like it would hold up well. Secondly, cleaning the manger out would be difficult as the feed pusher is in the way. The rail sits right along the curb. Terrible idea.

+COWS lol this is just one configuration. We have a barn with a alley 9 feet wide with feed on both sides we have one of these but with a custom diamond shape to push both sides simultaneously. There is a lot of feed but his cows push it all to the middle very fast. The length is about 80 meters. After 2 months of recording data his production is up almost 18% but that is due to the cows eating all the feed there is almost no waste. Before at the end of every night they went in with wheel barrels and picked up the remaining feed. now they just clean the floor.
for the rail issue, this was a challenge at the barn in the video as the barn is 20 years old so we had to get creative. The other barn just has a bar no head.locks and the cement wall is 4 inches taller so cows don't really interact with the pusher other than watching it.
there are some benifits to this type of pusher
      1 no batteries
2 can push as many times as (you) want
      3 fully programmable
4 can start it with a computer this is optional but we only allow it if cameras present
5 built in safety to prevent crushing someone or objects.
      6 its blue :)
7 powder coat paint and Teflon so extremely easy to clean
8 because its on a rail its consistent (never changes unless you tell it to)
9 different parking configs can be completely vertical if needed
10 no noise this thing only beeps for 5 seconds to say its starting then it is completely silent ( it will also beep 5 seconds before parking for safety) this is adjustable you can tell it to beep when you want
11 much cheaper to install and can go up to 1000 feet per drive and up to 2 plows at that length on 2 sides
if you have questions on it il be happy to answer them this was just a quick video but there's a lot this pusher can do that isn't shown :)

      I am a DeLaval technician
I service both Conventional systems and full robotic systems as well
this is just a easy cheap way to push feed but fun none the less :) saves your back

Raging_Geek what does this system retail for? My barn does not have enough feed bunk space for the number of cows I can hold in the bedding area. I know this is less of an issue if you can push the feed up several times a day. I know this, but yet I still find that we don't push the feed up enough throughout the day. I think something like this would be a good solution.
