I met him in March 2020 when he took me (a solo woman traveler) around for a magical few days in Agra just before global lockdown. We kept in touch, and I returned to Agra for an extended visit in December 2023. Again, Azeem has taken care of all my transportation and tourism needs. He is honest, gentle, reliable, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable about his home town of Agra. He is unquestionably my favorite driver from all of my world travels - the only one I consider a good friend and even a brother.
This video is an ad for Azeem's services as well as for visiting Agra. Tourism is way down after COVID, which makes it an excellent time to go. There are lots of services available without the crowds that were present earlier. And the Taj Mahal, Agra Red Fort, Mehtab Bagh (gardens), Itimad-ud-Daulah (Baby Taj), Akbar's Tomb, and Fatehpur Sikri (palace and mosque complex) are all so worth exploring.
And the food is amazing. Azeem helped me explore the diversity of local food including street snacks. Some of the things we've eaten together include many many cups of masala chai, jalebi, kebabs, parathas, bhel puri, puri bhaii, dahi puri, pani puri, dosas, idli, sandige, rotis, chapatis, chana masala, paneer bhatura, many chat mixes, freshly roasted peanuts, fruit and vegetable salads cut up at the cart, and more.
