This album sounds like a love album for the most part....still a pretty nice album

Depends on the success of this album. If it's successful, next album will probably be even more pop - lex Maroon 5. If it however fails, we can probably expect an actual TOADM album in 2019-20 instead of this pop shit

Oh god, don't let the next TOADM album be like the last Shinedown album where one song is good and the rest is mediocre to horrible... yes, it's better than making a pure pop album like this but it's not good. By "actual TOADM" album I mean Savages-style, or the "Bad Girlfriend" era, for example

People are "bitching" about HU, TOADM because they're sellouts.
People are "bitching" about 5FDP because they've become stale and recycle ideas. (Though I'll say I definitely prefer that over turning to pop for money).
Other bands like A7X, who change without selling out, or Breaking Benjamin who remain themselves without sounding stale, get no hate. There's a reason for that.

So many people saying it’s sad that the band is trying something new. No, what’s sad is the fact that so many people are boycotting a band they claim to be fans of just because they release an experimental album to see how they go with a different sound. Just look at Queen’s Bohemian Rapsody, Green Day’s Good Riddance, Disturbed’s Cover of Sound of Silence, or even Metallica with Nothing else matters. All of those songs are brilliant, and all of them are very different from the band’s “usual” sound. Another good example, on this very album is ToaD’s Rx. That song has a great sound, the lyrics are great and it’s catchy asf. If Theory didn’t experiment that song wouldn’t have been written. Give them time. You could be surprised what they come up with once they get it together.

nick supreme Not comparing the songs based on merit or quality, Queen will always be a far more recognisable and superior band but I was more or less comparing the situation not the quality of the music. My apologies if I worded my comment in a way that could cause confusion.

nick supreme I made the assumption is was an experiment because they are trying something completely different with no idea how it would turn out. Which is very similar to my interpretation of an experiment. So in my opinion, the album by very definition is an experiment. Once again, I apologise if I’ve caused any confusion though I will comment I feel I made most of this quite clear in the original comment.
nick supreme The type of music or how it sounds is quite irrelevant. They are trying a new approach with no certainty of success so that is an experiment by nature.

Muse/Oasis? Maroon 5's actually good era and something along the lines of 80's synth-pop-rock is what comes to mind here, together with weak modern garage-rock influences. To each his own though.

Theory or Theory of a Deadman whatever you guys are called now, I am actually very sad to see your sound change so much. I know you guys are probably getting a lot of shit for changing so much but if you guys are still happy with what you're putting out then keep on keeping on, I just really hope that you guys aren't changing just because that's what people are gonna listen to. Says a lot that the closest thing to rock is a garage-rock bridge on one song... from a former hard rock band with metal songs... but I agree, this is easily the best here, and it's certainly not terrible

That's the worst part, these songs _still_ go on rock radio and charts when they're not rock! Like having Imagine Dragons, Lorde, 21 Pilots etc on there wasn't enough... rx is number one on mainstream rock (which is the last actual rock chart that's got no pop in it...)

This is still poprock, but with its weak garage-rock influences, it's the closest thing to rock on this album and that says quite a lot. The difference is astronomical compared to Savages and certainly not in a good way. This isn't that bad though, quite fun listen
