Dr. Hook was a great band. I never get tired of hearing them.
More great songs by Dr Hook. "Sexy Eyes" "Love You A Little Bit More" "Sylvia's Mother" "If Not You"........ Take ya pick. ❤
Don't forget "Baby Makes Her Blue Jeans Talk." 😊
They did Sylvia's morher and Sexy Eyes,Ibthink ,as well
Sexy Eyes is pure 70s.
@@jossetteking4967 Love that video. LOL
@@bigb6046 I think alot of people do, but for some reason it's seldom mentioned. The song itself is very catchy. The video is great --- and cute. 😊
Now you’ve got to react to the video of them doing the song:
“The Cover Of The Rolling Stone”!!
You’ll get a kick out of it!!
They will love it 🥰
I had it on 45. It was clear plastic, red I think 🤔
"Millionaire" is another great funny one
And that song got them on the cover of the Rolling Stone!
My favorite of theirs. It was actually written by Shel Silverstein, who is better known as a children's book author.
Yes!!!! Cover of the Rolling Stone!!! Please???
Amber is a beautiful woman! Such a great song from the 70s.
Indeed. Jay is a lucky man. 🙂
Always loved this song! It's a fun one. 😁
Cover of the rolling stones is a great song from them too, honestly every song from Dr. Hook is a hit! Live is always better.
They need a ❤ button here. I absolutely LOVE these guys. They actually had two lead singers, but everyone in the band took their turn. Please check out "Last Morning" and THEIR version of "The Ballad of Lucy Jordon". Then if you want something a bit funnier, "Everybody's Making it Big But Me" "The Cover of the Rolling Stone". For an absolute make-you-cry-for-days tear jerker, there's"Daddy's Little Girl"
Don't forget Sylvia's Mother and Queen Of The Silver Dollar
@@TonyM1961 I mentioned"Queen of the Silver Dollar" in another comment and I think they already did"Sylvia's Mother". I was just trying not to list every song. They'd never get through it all. Lol
@@TonyM1961 Carry me carrie
I took sign language in college and had to sign a song as my final one quarter. I chose "Last Morning" . It was well over 30 years ago but I still listen to them all the time. "Carry Me Carrie" is still a favorite.

Dr. Hook had two major phases - a hard-rocking, uproarious, occasionally drunk band in the first half of the 70s and a mellower soft rock band in the late 70s/early 80s. I genuinely like both of them!
Love Dr Hook!! "Baby makes her blue jeans talk" and "The Millionaire" are great songs to react to. Also "The cover of the Rolling Stone" will crack you up
Baby makes her blue jeans talk Video has some incredibly good looking women in it.
Blue jeans walk... can you imagine the liberal wacky feminist butthurt meltdown if they saw that video 😂
Yesss. I have never clicked sooo fast. My favourite group. Dennis's voice is just something else. ❤🎼🎶
Hook it …. Dr Hook! Cha cha time! Yeah!
Honestly.. how smashed do you think they were
He really was the voice of Dr Hook
Dr. Hook has some AMAZING stuff❤
I was fortunate enough to see Dr Hook recording a show at the BBC in London around 1980. The group chatted with the audience in between songs, a great bunch of lads. ❤
We partied with them at the hot pool in Fairmont BC circa 1980.
I am 100% certain my boy Jay can completely relate to this song😊
Absolutely 🥰 Amber is lovely😊
Love this track from the ‘70’s
I was fortunate to see them 4 times in the 70's and early 80's. They never disappointed. The live version of "Sylvia's Mother",recorded on Shel Silverstein's boat, is amazing. "Carry Me, Carrie" is another one that pulls onmy heart.
In 1978 I was 13 and THIS was my favorite song because it reminded me of a Girl I had a crush on then.
Y'all should watch them doing Sylvia's mother live on Shel Silverstein's boathouse.
Great band!! Sharing the night is my jam 🔥💙
Dr Hook are legendary talented musicians
This is Dr. Hook's contribution to disco. It has a definite dance beat.
Shel Silverstein (of kid book fame) wrote a bunch of Dr. Hook tunes
Bobby Bare recorded his lyrics too
Love Dr Hook! Every single song is awesome! ❤❤❤
Even ‘I got stoned and missed it’ 😂💙💛
I used to tell my first wife she was the most beautiful woman in the room (she was) , It was exactly like the song goes, always looking over my shoulder.. took its toll on both of us.
Hello from Brooklyn. As soon as Rob said "you know they're looking" the music gods in my head started "BACK STABBERS" by The Spinners.
This subject is presented perfectly and so groovilicious with Soul Train Style.
Trust your friend ~Red
That's a great song.
You both are such beautiful folks! And for the gentleman? Remember! You also have a beautiful woman! Be good to her. Or I'll take her away from you!.
Gotta do Dr. Hook's "Cover of the Rolling Stone" next! You two will love it!
Jay, you’ve got a beautiful woman!♥️♥️” Amber “ 🌹
Jay & Amber Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show "Cover of the Rolling Stone" The Guy with eye patch sings this fun song. You'll love it.
When I was in fourth grade, my classmate, Jessie, brought in his dad for show and tell. It was DennIs Locorriere from Dr. Hook. We all had the opportunity to ask him questions. At the time I had never heard of Dr. Hook, but I was a huge queen fan. So my brilliant question to this rock star was, “are you allowed to like queen “
Dennis graciously replied, “yes, yes we’re allowed to like Queen”
What a coincidence, I just added another Dr. Hook album "A Little Bit More" into my collection today. My mother had a great collecton of their albums so I grew up with them. It is sign of a fantastic group when 40-years after listening to the album, you find you can still sing along with all the songs. A good song from this album to checkout is the title song "A Little Bit More."
More Dr. Hook, please!!! They bring back such fun memories
Great times… Wonderful era!
UNCANNY..MY GIRL TURNED ME ON TO A RARE GEM FROM DR HOOK...3 DAYS AGO AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY A MEMORABLE PERFORMANCE..IM HOOKED...THIS BAND OOOZES PERSONALITY AND THEIR NICHE WAS UNTAPPED IN THE ROCK AND ROLL MARKET.....CARRY ME,CARRI VIDEO...WILL MAKE YOUR WEEK...AND YEAH GREAT LEAD SINGER GREAT HARMONIES AND GROOVE WITH THIS BAND...RAY SAWYER HAD NEXT LEVEL COMEDIC GENIUS LIKE DON KNOTTS....WHAT A PERFORMER.
"COVER of the Rolling Stone" is a great LIVE display of fun ! Great performers !
The one and only ... One of the best live bands I have ever seen, so much fun at their shows. You can do any of their song.Theya rea ll great. Love you to do "Carry Me Carrie" ..a real banger.
You beat me to it 👍
Must do their
"On The Cover of The Rolling Stone", a hillarious song.
Their vocal harmonies are always awsome.
Only Sixteen (1975) is another good Dr. Hook song.
The happiest band of all time. Smiling, laughing, dancing, mugging for the cameras. Ton of personality. It was a no-brainer to have them host the Midnight Special.
Yep, another band that takes me back to the 70s! Was the best time in my life & the music of that era definitely played a part.
❤
The downright, most emotional, heart-felt belting of a song is Kiss It Away! Highly recommend that one.
Jay does have a beautiful woman, but he's pretty adorable himself. A great match. And the relationship appears to be solid enough that they'll still be a great match when they're old a neither looks like they did when they were young. ❤
You guys should check out "Freakin at the Freakers Ball"...When I was about 12yrs old my mom took me kicking and screaming to see them and Commander Cody at the Circle star Theater, I sat with my arms folded at the beginning of the show totally pissed because I didn't want to go, and by then end I was standing on my seat cheering, they were great and I still dig their music today, also check out "I got stoned and I missed it", and definitely "Sharing the night together".
I remember the first time I heard 'Sylvia's Mother', I was hooked on Dr. Hook.
This reminds me of a fun time as a kid and reminds me of my dad. He loved to sing but was *awful* at it and couldn't carry a tune. He LOVED this song.
Classic sounds of the 70's. They had a lot of great songs, "The Cover Of The Rolling Stone", "A Couple More Years", "Sweetest Of All" are right up Amber's alley, especially the last two.
“A little bit more “ and “The cover of the Rolling Stone” ❤❤❤❤. Great band!! 🔥
Cover of the Rolling Stone is a must-hear song. The fictional band Stillwater sang a bit of it in the movie Almost Famous. It will make you laugh!
"I got stoned and missed it" is one of my favorites by them. The band is just having so much fun on this song. And you can see the talent of everyone in the band. Their stage presence was amazing. Check it out. A song I would not have listened to years ago is one of my favorites now.
Such an amazing live video on YT from the BBC of that song! Beyond fun!
Love this song!! Love the band
They could be smooth as silk, set a sexy mood, make you cry, or be as Mad as a box of frogs!!
'Millionaire 'Stoned and I missed it' ' A Little Bit More' 'One More Year (of Daddy's little girl)'. 'If Not You' 'Everybody's Makin It Big But Me'
Something for everyone and always brilliantly performed. Great Band!
Loved this band back when I was a teenager and still love their songs.. awesome...
They had a great sound! I remember their songs on the radio when I was in high school. Great reaction. Thanks guys. ❤️
This song was up there in top ten and Doctor Hook had his hits songs for a good while long thanks Jay and Amber love you guys bless you thanks for the memories
Saw them at the Tulsa City Limits back in the 90's. Hands down the funnest concert I've been to!
More more more! Love Dr. HOOK! any song will do, they are ALL full of hooks.
"Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show" started as a "Stoner Rock" band (My term) and made their way through light disco to easy listening.
I was a huge fan of the first album. Especially "Four Years Older than Me". Such a kick a$$ jam. Also a very sweet "Mama, I'll Sing One Song for You"
They need to do “The Freakers Ball”!!! Just needs to be kept in context of the times...
Love this song so much, loved watching you guys enjoying it ❤❤❤❤
I don't think you've done "Cover of the Rolling Stone" yet? You gotta do it, and need to do the live version! The guys are, shall we say animated, and you'll get to see Ray Sawyer, the guy with the eye patch, singing lead. I've heard it so many times, and it's still always a hoot!
F***ing Love This Song!!!
Another great classic, you guys are killing it with your song selections lately
💯% !!!!
Favorite part of my daily lately 🥰
This is one of those songs you'd think you'd done years ago. Oh bless. Bring it on!!!!
So this band were "partay" people. One of their biggest hits was "The Cover Of Rolling Stone". That song, as well as many others was written by the same person that wrote Johnny Cash's hit "A Boy named Sue". The reason I mention that is he also wrote some of the best children's books ever. Have you ever read, "Where The Sidewalk Ends?", or "The Giving Tree"? You won't find a bunch of video on this guy but he was amazing in how he saw life. His name was Shel Silverstein.
The guy with the eye patch was Ray Sawyer. He lost it in an automobile accident just before the band's debut album. He did sing lead vocals on the majority their earlier songs such as Sylvia's Mother and (my favorite) Cover of the Rolling Stone, Ray stepped back and became a background singer and percussionist on their later songs. He left the band in 83 due to musical differences. Ray was basically the face of the band because of the eye patch. Quite a few of their songs were written by humorist, songwriter, and children's author Shel Silverstein. Shel also wrote the Johnny cash song, A Boy Named Sue.
This song though was written by Even Steves who is a country singer/song writer. he has written hit like Eddie Rabbit's I love A Rainy Night and Kenny Roger's Love Will Turn You Around
Great band!!!🎉
My favorite by Dr. HOOK 🪝 ❤
One thing about Dr. Hook, you know instantly who is singing, No guessing. Love them.😊❤
I saw Dr. Hook play live at Knott's Berry Farm. I really wanted to go but I was too young to drive my mother was working and my father had already died. I asked/pleaded with my brother (who is 18 months older than me) to go and drive. He and I had a very strong a sibling rivalry and we had very different tastes in all things including music, but he relented and drove me to the show. I can't remember if I paid for his ticket or if he just waited for me, but the show was great and it was fun but it was also a wonderfully generous gesture from my brother with whom I often had a prickly relationship.
Dr. Hook was a pretty big band to be playing in that relatively small theater so it was a real once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see them, but even more than that it was a nice bridge between my brother and I.
I lived in Germany from 2011 to 2017, and this song is still hugely popular there, and anything by CCR. Shout out to all my fellow one-eyed pirates out there! ☠
Great song!! Love to see the reactions to the things I grew up on I wished that music was still around as far as being able to go to some of those concerts!! But the awesome work!! Love the channel!! Keep rockin!!🤟✌️
Love these cats !!! My youth !!! Sexy eyes, Sylvia's mother and On the cover of a Rolling Stone are great ones too !
Dennis Corriere visited my child's school last week. He spoke to the kids for an hour and sang a few songs, he lives in Worthing. What a gentleman.
Dr Hook was Ray Sawyer, the gentleman with the eye patch. R I.P. Love this song.
This song fit the R&B disco sounds of the time. Great tune. ☮🧡🎶
There’s a video on CZcams of them doing medley,It’s lovely and it shows how all of them can sing.
I can relate to this song. I am eleven years older than my wife. we have been married 40 years and I know how beautiful she is. and how men look at her!
"Carry Me Carrie" live on Shel's houseboat. You will see real Dr Hook showing what real musicians can do while stoned out of their gourds.
Awesome song , Dr Hook is amazing ... "Sexy Eyes" "Better Love Next Time" are great songs as well
They have a lot of good songs but i think this is my favorite. They were in their own lane at the time.
I saw them open for the Stones as a kid. I am still listening to them today. Here is a group of other songs in order of success. 1. A LITTLE BIT MORE. 2. SEXY EYES. 3. I DONT WANT TO BE ALONE TONITE. 4. COVER OF THE ROLLING STONE. 5. SWEETEST OF ALL. 6. ROCK ROLL MEDLEY IS HILARIOUS. 7. IF NOT YOU. You guys are the Mod Squad.
A couple of their hits were written by Shel Silverstein. Shel Silverstein also wrote hit songs for Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, He wrote songs for movies and was a playwright wrote books and had cartoons published in Playboy. He was nominated for an Oscar and Golden Globe for a song he wrote for "Postcards from the Edge"
Love this song
Sexy Eyes would be another great one to react to!
The video is more in keeping with the music, with Dr Hook having a lot of fun, beaming away in the studio. Locorriere pokes fun at the lyrics, going all starey and wild-eyed at ‘You watch your friends’, glancing edgily at Sawyer, then grinning at the camera so we know he’s just kidding. But then - oh no! Sawyer drives off at the end with not one but two beautiful women! Locorriere cannot believe it! The Alabama-born Ray Sawyer - who founded the group with Dennis Locorriere, Billy Francis and George Cummings - was a member of Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show from 1969 to 1981. A few years before the band’s formation, Sawyer lost his right eye in a car accident; Sawyer wore an eyepatch that made him resemble the Peter Pan villain Captain Hook, which served as the inspiration for the Dr. Hook moniker.
My favorite is Only Sixteen. They have some of the most beautiful, love songs, and some of the most raunchy songs too. 😆
A request I have would be Love will Find a Way by Pablo Cruise, another hit that year.
Yes !!!
They were known as the summer band, their hits always seemed to be at that time of year.
Love this song. Check their live performance on The Midnight Special, it might actually be better. Glad you 2 enjoyed this.
The Cover of the Rolling Stone is a great, fun song. I can’t wait to see your reaction to it.
Dr. Hook!
Music was sooo good back in the day!
Great reaction!
There is NO other voice like the living legend, Dennis Locorriere! I strongly suggest "Storms Never Last", "Sweetest Of All", and "Years From Now". All gorgeous showcases for Dennis' amazing voice.
I would love to hear you guys play some Hot chocolate , they are so cool 💯❣️
Dr. Hook started out as a rock band and become a disco group. But they kept on cranking out jam after jam.
Two more from them in this era: “Sexy Eyes” and “Better Love Next Time”.
I recommend "Only Sixteen." It was originally a Sam Cooke song, but Dr. Hook's version is also very good.
Jay I received a message from your boy. He said he heard you saying that he wasn’t even in your top 3 anymore. He asked me if I could tell you that he would like you to reconsider. He said that he put on the most banging performance of a life time at the River Plate. He wants you to see how he took over the show when they amped up “Let There Be Rock” He’s looking to be your number 1 boy again. You won’t be disappointed. Remember he did this just for you at the River Plate Live! Angus wants his #1 spot back!!!
Loved, loved, loved Dr Hook in their heyday 😎👍
Sylvia's Mother
Years from now are two of their great tunes.
💯👍
"Baby Makes Those Blue Jeans Talk" is a great one of their videos.
Those are actually the guys singing high pitch female backing vocals. Ray also was contemplating leaving the band before the car accident he lost his eye to in 1975. All songs after may not have been created if he didn't lose his eye!
Back in the 1970s, it was considered a huge honor for a band or performer to be on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. So Dr. Hook put out a song called "Cover of the Rolling Stone" which caused the magazine to feature the band. 🙂 Anyway, a little background because you should do "Cover of the Rolling Stone."
"Walk Right In", a cover of The Rooftop Singers, is one of my favourite Dr Hook songs.
Most of Dr. Hook's songs were written by Shel Silverstein, one of America's greatest poets and author of childrens books. His lyrics were wonderful, unique and catchy. . . Look him up.
The only song I remember by Dr. Hook is "Cover of the Rolling Stone." That was a huge hit and guess what? It got them on the cover of the Rolling Stone! Can't believe you haven't reacted to it yet.
Thomas Chong started out with DR. HOOK as a drummer before they became big. He quit the band because he thought that they would never make it in fame. But they did make it.
