    • @htershane
      @htershane Před 5 lety +10

      Sordel well I’d argue the same applies as far as perception goes . For all his flaws he’s got something the last 4 PMs have lacked, he engages people. Blair and Cameron were prepackaged commodities with whom one never got any sense of a genuine personality. May and Brown nuff said. I think a lot of people see the same thing. Remember whatever hysteria is whipped up by media and the doom mongers he wouldn’t be a dictator, he’s a the representative of a cabinet which chances are will be short lived. If he gets people to take an interest in how their country is run he’ll be a success on that front at least.
      America survived George W, it will survive Trump, if we get Boris we’ll survive that too, it should be interesting. Otherwise welcome Jeremy Hunt, another dull middle management type with zero charisma no doubt ready to inspire a new era of apathy and lethargy. Woo. Hoo.

    • @sordel5866

    • @htershane
      @htershane Před 5 lety +2

      I am not party political but as I say i don’t think it’ll be dull! He might even inject a bit of personality to the opposition. Corbyn almost seems viable when he’s rallying a crowd outside the confines of parliament but get him in the Commons or on a tv interview and I’d rather look at his manhole cover collection! Maybe Boris can provoke them into something resembling an effective opposition.

    • @htershane
      @htershane Před 5 lety +2

      Hannah Dyson people tend to get a bit hysterical, about these things, like the world is about to end. Apply some perspective . History invariably shows it hasn’t and I’m optimistic it won’t. I’m not happy with the whole current saga but like or loathe him Boris has some personality and it’ll be refreshing to see that in a UK leader. The term “prime minister” first among equals, he’s accountable to cabinet, parliament, his own party - who will answer to the electorate. We”re not going into camps or forced to play “wiff waff” anytime soon. London is still standing, the Foreign office is still intact I believe. I won’t be voting Tory but I’m still gonna enjoy this!

    I wish Paul wouldn't bait Boris for long stretches of the show. It is just tedious and starts to sound like bullying, not wit. At least with a video we can skip ahead, which I very much appreciate. It reminds me of when Paul was going after Angus toward the end. That isn't talking about the news in a humorous way. That is attacking someone relentlessly.

      Sadly, he attacks someone who keeps on saying foolish things.I really don't want my P.M. to keep opening himself up to ridicule. I want someone who is bright, somewhat self-aware and has some idea of how to appear normal and professional, rather than being the butt of jokes. On this show, Boris is great. Clowning around is fun, but running the country and representing us on serious and potentially life and death issues, is a totally different gig. Whilst I enjoy all 3 on HIGNFY, I don't want Merton, Hislop or Johnson running the country.

      He played this character to get popular, and yes we fell for it. He's pretty cunning as well as being a bumbling fool.

      LoneKharnivore he's smart but how long can he survive being thought / considered a fool, and that too a dangerous fool?

      Many people see him for the nasty piece of work he is, but sadly in the UK we are prone to a 2 party state, so even if you dislike him Tory voters would still vote him over the candidate. He isn't cunning, he just belongs to a party which appeals to wankers who want to blame their own misery on anyone but themselves.
