The Nutcracker is a piece of home for me. I'm sure I'm not alone in this... but I'm so grateful to Tchaikovsky for creating such a wonderful ballet that has touched the lives of so many.
This piece is pure magic. I can't help but picture a beautiful snow-covered forest whenever I hear this, and I always feel a strange sense of longing... Tchaikovsky is a true genius
I agree with you, because the mood of this piece really takes you away to a place filled with snow (e.g. Pine forest). Have you been to pine forests before?
Agreed. I think of my children and when they were very young. Especially my youngest son when he was two or three years old and watching this scene in the Tom and Jerry Nutcracker cartoon on television. My heart aches with longing for those early years when I hear this music.
I remember watching Tom and Jerry: The Nutcracker as a kid and hearing this piece. I remember crying when Jerry broke through the ice at 2:06 and nearly drowned. Hearing this today still brings those tears to my eyes.
i've had a similar experience too. only that i watched a recording of the theatre performance of The Nutcracker when i was very young and immediately cried to this sequence. hearing this and pas de deux still moves me to tears. the ballet performances make them all the more heartfelt.
This piece would be an excellent choice for a winter playlist that anyone can create on Spotify as long as their iPhones have access to the Internet. 👍🏼 if you agree and have a smart phone that connects to the Internet.
dana simpson that’s understandable. but try to look at the good in the song too. think of it as a new beginning, though there is feelings of wanting to give up.
I feel something similar to yours too. Despite it is named pine forest, for me it's more about lifetime. It sounds sad, emotional, kind of nostalgic...Not only for what already been (and gone),but also for anything that will happen sooner or later and i can't do nothing about it. I'm thinking about how time flies and it getting faster with the years. My beloved mother is still alive just like me,but she got much older. Listening to this movement i had a thought,if she will leave this earth sooner than me,how it will be painful and devastating for me. But until those sad days to appear,i'm glad that she's here and appreciate it as much as possible. I must say, that only this scene from a whole ballet gives me these melancholic feelings. The other pieces are much positive, romantic for my mind and imagination.
This is my favorite movement, tied with the pas de deux.
Maxwell Lowery same as for me!
Yessss! Absolutely gorgeous!
Same!!!
Agreed!
They are tied with Waltz of the Flowers and The Last Waltz Apotheosis for me.

Yes, it makes me homesick for a place I have never seen and never will see, outside of my imagination.
