I decided to trek out to Chester for this year's Chester on Track festival, complete with a parade and other activities, but also with a focus on the trains, past and present, that have graced Chester over the years. It is located in the Berkshire Mountains, with the tracks located on a significant incline.
The star of the day had to be the eastbound CSX manifest M426, as it had the Chessie heritage unit trailing third. I had no idea it would be coming back to MA so this was a heck of a treat since I hadn't seen it in person before. Rumor has it that the CSX crews of M426 (EB) and X425 (WB) planned it so that the Chessie-laden M426 would stop at Chester during the festival for ample photos, etc. of the striking livery on the # 1973 (its number a nod to the year the Chessie System railroad was formed from the merger of the Chesapeake and Ohio, Baltimore and Ohio, and a couple of other smaller railroads). It was awesome for me, as I got great videos and photos of the train and its superstar locomotive.
    Enjoy!
